As you know, we have a medical emergency regarding a pair of Bichons in Tarpon Springs, Fl.

They are being cared for at the Westlake Animal Hospital.

Maximillan is around 18 Months old.

Max was found with his friend, Tina, as strays in South Florida. Both are about 18 months old.

Tina, is the other half of the bonded pair.

Maximillan got very sick from ingesting the items below.

This is what was retrieved from Max's tummy in an emergency surgery.

We are only 2/3 of the way there to be able to pay vet bills for just these two Bichons.

It is costing us an average of $1285.07 per day just for our vet bills across the country.

Vet Bills Paid by Small Paws Rescue For The First 18 Days of September, 2012,
Totalling $23,131.17, An Average of $1,285.07 Per Day.

Then, as if this wasn't enough, we received an owner surrender for for two Bichons, another bonded pair that are in trouble. :(

There was a divorce and the owner has lost her home.

Both of these Bichons have not seen a vet in years. One has bladder stones and both have severe dental disease.

Nellie and Hubble are both nine years old.

We need to take these two Bichons in West Virginia.

I don't know how to commit to these two, when we aren't able to yet pay for Max and Tina in Florida. And we have a host of other new Bichons in rescue right now.

We truly need your help to be able to keep helping Bichons with no one to help them but us.

We didn't have any matching donation challenges to offer this time.

I am happy to issue them if they come in.

I don't mean to make it sound so dramatic, but when you have Bichons needing help, and they are in pain, and their owners have no home any longer, it IS dramatic.

Thank you all so much for supporting this rescue effort. We appreciate you!

All My Love, Robin

Dear Robin,

Although I would love to help out with some rescues this month, maybe next month. I got a third job to help pay off the bills faster. Please surround my family with Small Pawser's prayers. My 26 year old son passed away from an undetected blood clot in July and then last Friday we had to send our 12 year old Scottish terrier over the rainbow bridge. She was filled with tumors and there was nothing they could do for her except put her out of her pain. Our two bichon mixes are very sad. Not to mention her three human companions whom are also suffering greatly!

Susie

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
