Gem of the Day: "Hope is necessary in
every condition. The miseries of poverty,
sickness and captivity would, without this
comfort, be insupportable."

we need

for
the Bichons! Thank
you in advance!
The final days are dwindling down before
the 2012 Small Paws Rescue Okie Bash Weekend which begins next week!
You are all invited!
Please R.S.V.P. to Bonnie
Ferguson at bonnie@smallpawsrescue.org
if
you can come to any
or all of the events.
(We will be accepting
credit cards for the
various meals at
Post Oaks Lodge.)
It's a very busy time here at the home office
and next week will be even busier with Small
Pawser's arriving, here in Tulsa, from all
over the country.
That's why Dave Hagadorn's
email to me last
night, telling me
that our bank balance was
dangerously low,
was so concerning!
He said we are down to $1,386.00 left over
after paying our vet bills, which isn't even
a full day for us.

See vet Bills Paid By Small Paws Rescue in
October of 2012 totalling
$22, 093.45
for the first 15
days of October. This is
an average of $1,472.90
per day.
And we have SIX Bichons who need for us to
come for them from
a Chicago area shelter
or they will be killed,
dead. And no I am
not kidding.
It's never a good
time for this to happen.
If we can raise funds, we will go for them
on Friday, but it will take an estimated
$3600.00 to vet and quarantine them all.
This is causing me
not to be able to even
think of anything
else but raising funds
for these six Bichons
in danger.
They used to be somebody's
babies. :(
Now, through no fault of their own, they
are on death row.
We have to be able to pay for their care.
I can't authorize them to come in without
funds to vet them.
There are two bonded
pairs and two single
Bichons. All at once.
I'm probably rambling
because I'm stressing.
Did I mention they
are scheduled to
go down
without us??
I know these pictures
are bad pics, but they
came from a shelter
volunteer's cell phone.
They are all we have
to determine if these
are Bichons.
I say YES. They are
all Bichons. And
yes,
I would know. (I'm
doing it again, aren't
I? )

A pair of owner surrender Bichons. The owner's
couldn't afford to keep them. Can you imagine
if your Bichons were in a cage at a shelter
where they are having to euthanize dogs in
the next room? Mine would be in shock.

A pair of Bichons found as strays. Together
on the streets. Mine would be in shock without
their Mom and Dad. They wouldn't know what
a car is or how to find food. They would
be lost.

I know the picture is blurry but I know this
is a
Bichon like I know
the back of my hand.
Found
as a stray.
Another stray. The picture isn't good but
I'm not going to
leave him there over
a bad
picture. He's either
a Bichon or "pert-near".
(Southern slang used
by my Grandmother,
meaning
"Pretty Near."
All of these are young Bichons.
So you see the problem.
And that's just in
Illinois.
They are also coming in in VA., in GA., in
LA., in Dallas, TX. They are coming in from
all over.
We want to be there
to catch them before
they assume room
temperature, but we need
your help.
We need your matching challenges to issue.
We have this first matching challenge for
$500.00 in honor of "Tessie" Gellar,
who has passed away.
We got this from her Mom, Sue.
Sue, our prayers
are with you at this
difficult
time.

We would like to donate $500.00 in loving
memory of our Tessie.
We would challenge
anyone with a Velcro
dog
to do the same in
hopes of saving a
future
Velcro dog to enrich
someone else's life.
Thanks, Sue>
It's one of those
things where you think,
"What if my
Bichon had no one?"
You wonder if your
Bichons would have made
it out, if someone's
else hadn't donated
funds for his or
her medical care.
This is as serious
as it gets. They
need
us and we need you,
in order to save
them.
I will issue all
matching donation
challenges.
Sorry for rambling.
NOT a good time for this
to happen. It never
is! All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought
it was truly the epitome of what we do, and
why we do it. I wanted to use this black
and white picture of Humphrey, taken only
days before his death due to congestive heart
failure, to let those who may be new to Small
Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known
love. He would have died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
