Foster home needed for Max!!

Maximillan is an 18-24 month old fluff that
came to us as a stray. He was featured in
the SPR newsletter because he needed surgery
to remove old yucky stuff from his stomach
that had been there a long time. We are not
sure he was eating the yucky stuff because
he was starving or if he just likes to eat
“stuff”. He needs a foster home who can watch
and observe which it is then we can place
him properly. He is currently in Florida
but we can fly him to you if you can foster
Max!

Items are still needed for our upcoming Small Paws Rescue Holiday Auction which is
set to start on November 2, 2012.
We have only 121 Items so far, and we need
300 in order to hold the auction!
Help! Auction items are needed! This auction
raises about $12,000.00 for the Bichons!
Ok! We have some updates for you as well
as news of some other Bichons we have rescued.
One of them is in Sara Pace's Team.
"Claire"
has been attacked
by a
coyote.
Se was rescued during
the attack, so we
know
that it was a coyote.
But first, we have updates on little "Remie",
in the Dallas area, who was also attacked
by something.
The vets believe it was either a pack of
dogs or a coyote. :(
Thanks to all of you, we patched her up and
she is now in foster care with SPR Volunteer,
Molly Smith.
From Molly: "Remie and I stopped off
at my Mom's on way home from vet. She acts
like she has been here 100 times before!
So calm, sweet, balanced."
I have a feeling that little Magnum Smith
may be having a new sister named "Remie".
Ha!
Then, we also rescued a little Bichon that
was already named, "Claire" from
the Chicago area.
Claire was taken
to the shelter after
a coyote
attacked her and
her owners could
not afford
medical care for
her.
We do not yet know the extent of her vet
bills.
She has three broken ribs, corneal ulcers,
and bite wounds in her groin and neck areas.
She was viciously attacked.

into Small Paws yesterday

Good Morning,

Attached are photos of Claire our newest
rescue at Small Paws.
Claire was viciously
attacked by a coyote
but thankfully survived.
Claire is beginning
to heal on the outside,but
the wounds on
the inside are still
very painful. Claire
was grabbed by the
coyote in various
areas
of her body, her
throat being the
worst.
The coyote grabbed
her by the throat
and
shook her which not
only resulted on
severe
bites and punctures
but she now has corneal
ulcers on her eyes
and has torn ligament
in her neck and upper
spinal area.
When Dr Chestnut
tried to look in
her mouth,
Claire cried in pain
due to having to
turn
her neck. This prompted
the vet to take X-rays
to further investigate
the damage. He found
that Claire also
has 3 broken ribs
in addition
to bite wounds in
her groin and upper
thigh.
Despite this tragic
event, 3 year old
Claire
is the sweetest little
girl I have ever
met.
She is very affectionate
and wants nothing
more then to be next
to you and be held.
I can't begin to
think what emotional
scars
she feels, but her
demeanor is such
that
you would never imagine
what this little
girl has gone through.
The vet is giving
her a good prognosis
which will hopefully
mean another happy
ending to a horrible
story.
Thanks, kathymac>
And, Miss Scarlett!
We have babies!
You may remember
"Tara",
the little
shelter Bichon who
delivered three premature
babies. Sadly, they
all died.
We got her out of
the shelter and found that
she had six MORE
babies inside of her and
they were very much
alive!
We have babies!
Baby what's we don't
know, but their Mama
is a Bichon!
They are all being
fostered by Kathy
MacPherson
in IL. Thank you
Kathy and Tom!
There are three boys
and three girls.

Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought
it was truly the epitome of what we do, and
why we do it. I wanted to use this black
and white picture of Humphrey, taken only
days before his death due to congestive heart
failure, to let those who may be new to Small
Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known
love. He would have died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
