Gem Of The Day: No time for a gem today.
Emergency rescue happening now.
Sara Pace went to the shelter near Chicago,
expecting to bring
home the five Bichons
that I told you about
yesterday.
Right now, in her
car, she has SIXTEEN Bichons.
There were FOUR more Bichons than we expected,
who were all scheduled to be euthanized.
They all came in from different owners. They
are all young.
One is only four
months old!
ONE OF THE ADDITIONAL FOUR IS A MAMA AND
SHE HAS SIX 2 WEEK OLD BICHON PUPPIES WHO
WERE WET, COLD AND SHIVERING. THERE WERE
SEVEN BABIES BUT ONE DIED AT THE SHELTER.
HELP IS NEEDED!

If you missed our last newsletter, here it is.
This is a special
Saturday Edition of the
Small Paws Rescue
Newsletter.
This is urgent.
Sara Pace, our IN.
and IL. Team Leader
just
called me.
This woman is a nurse
in a neo-natal unit
at a hospital.
She doesn't get rattled.
Normally.
She told me about
an unbelievable rescue
she is doing right
now.
We need your support
and help.
She went to the shelter
expecting to pull
FIVE more Bichons,
which would have brought
the number up to
eight in her area over the
past two days.
I told you about
all eight of those, yesterday
and we tried raising
funds for them.
We needed around
$5000.00 to vet all of those
eight and one of
them is heartworm positive,
so that will cost
a bit more.
At last count, we had raised "$2,090
at 9:00 PM for the 8 in kill shelters."
So we were already $3000.00 short.
That was before what
happened this morning.
Sara went there expecting to bring home the
five Bichons we told you about yesterday.
In her car, right now, she has SIXTEEN Bichons.
They all came in
from different owners
or
were strays.
ONE OF THEM IS A MAMA AND SHE HAS SIX 2 WEEK
OLD BICHON PUPPIES.
There were seven
babies and one of then died
at the shelter before
we got there.
This morning, when
Sara found them, the babies
were wet and shivering.
I imagine they were
probably cleaning the
kennels at the shelter
and they all got wet.
Becoming chilled
can kill a tiny puppy
like
that!
Sara put her nursing
skills to task and covered
them with warm blankets
and they are in the
car with her now,
with the heater on them.
THIS LADY KNOWS HOW TO TAKE CARE OF BABIES!
There are FOUR additional
adults, other than
the ones we were
planning for.
This means an additional
$2500.00 in vet
costs.
We need help.
It will costs $5500.00 more than we have
right now just to vet these shelter Bichons.
We need foster homes
IN THE CHICAGO area
if at all possible
to keep from having
to
pay airfare to fly
them.
The babies will stay with their Mama, in
foster care, (Sara already has a foster home
for the Mom and babies) until they are 10
weeks old, at which time they will be placed
in homes. Applicants who are grieving will
move to the top of the list, and they can
be located anywhere in the country.
My heart is beating pretty fast at this miraculous
save and I know that yours are too.
ALL of these Bichons rescued today are young.
There is one who is only four month old.
Help. We need your
help.
The hurricane is coming down hard on many
of our people, causing them to be otherwise
occupied. (Well I reckon so!)
I'm here today staring at the screen and
will issue matching challenges is any come
in.
I don't know. I may be typing to no one this
morning. I just don't know if anyone is even
around.
We have this challenge from yesterday that
hasn't been issued yet. This one if for $100.00
from Sandy. Thank you Sandy!

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
