Thursday Afternoon January 27, 2011
Gem of the Day: One of our beloved volunteers
from Redford, MI. passed away this morning
after complications from heart surgery.
Gary Thuss, Jane
Cameron's (Janeway59@aol.com)
husband, died early
this morning.
Jane is a charter member of SPR and was there
from day one when we started out on the old
AOL Bichon Message Board, before we even
had a name.
Jane has been a loyal supporter, foster home
and adopter for almost 13 years now.
I would like to be able to attend Gary's
memorial service which will be help sometime
next week, to represent Small Paws Rescue,
whom he loved with his whole heart.
If anyone has enough miles on Delta Airlines,
to donate a round trip ticket, there are
non-stop flights out of Tulsa to Detroit.
Please let me know
if you can help in
this
way.
Jane asked me to thank everyone who has called
and sent cards to Gary. She said he got a
big kick out of hearing from people all over
the world whom he had never met in person.
Godspeed Gary. You will be missed.
Jane, we are praying
for you. We love
you.

If you missed our last newsletter, here it
is.
As you know we have a couple of high priority
rescues going on
right now.

McDreamy needs to stay an extra weekend in
the ER in OKC.
One is little McDreamy who was hit by a car.
He had a urethra graft done in Oklahoma City.
He was supposed to come home tomorrow, but
the Dogtors want him to stay there and stay
still until Monday to give that graft a better
chance of taking hold.
We are still not
there yet to be able
to
pay his vet bill
and to spring him
on Monday.
Help is still needed
for him as well as
a
foster home within
driving distance
of OKC.
Krista, Dr. Skips's nurse told me that McDreamy
is just a living doll and just loves everyone.
We sure don't want to move him too soon.
Then, we have another heart murmur Bichon
and we have only raised about 1/4 of what
we need for her surgery which is $2000.00.

2 year old "Christmas Eve" is one
of the Bichons that a good Samaritan stopped
from being shot by her commercial kennel
owner in Missouri, back in December.

Linda Fausey, one of our Ohio Team Leaders,
and Eve's foster Mom,
took this picture last night.
We have the following matching donation challenges
for little Eve's heart.
She needs this surgery as her heart is enlarged
and there isn't much room left in there for
it to keep beating. It is working overtime
and then some, as it is right now.
I hope there are
some of you who can answer
some of these challenges
for our little girl,
Christmas Eve.
First, from our friend Sue Hodges, in Southern
California, we have this challenge. If someone
will match Sue, she will donate $100.00.
That would be $200.00 towards Eve's surgery!
Thank you again, Sue!

we have this challenge for $100.00 from Deborah
Berger and the B-man, Boris, the celebrity Bichon. Thank you both!

Hi Robin,
Don't worry about the story, just ask as
you always do.
I'm sure everyone
knows what is in
your heart.
With that the Big B would like to issue a
$100.00 challenge. After all he was from
one of the puppy mills from the state of
Missouri, oops, I mean misery. Deborah and
Boris>
And from another of our heart babies, Sue
Rambin and Johnny in Washington State, we
have this challenge for $10.00. Thank you
Sue! I just love that Edgar!

Good morning Robin.
Johnny, our heart
murmur baby, is challenging
all of the heart
murmur babies who
have received
this life saving
surgery to have their
people
pledge $10.00. With
all of the heart
murmur
babies sending in
$10.00 we will raised
more
than enough, and
maybe some extra
for the
next baby that needs
to fix it's heart.
Edgar and Louie say
hi too.
Sue<
And from Sherry Keller we have this challenge
for $100.00 for little Eve's surgery! Thank
you Sherry!

Hi Robin, Bless her
heart, she looks
so pitiful.
Please issue a challenge
for $100.00 for
little Eve.
Hang in there, looks
like SPR has had
one
emergency after another
while I was out of
touch.
Love to all, Sherry
Keller<
So that's where we are on this fine Thursday
afternoon.
If any of you are inside, escaping a snow
storm, it will warm your heart to assist
one of these two precious babies, McDreamy
and our little heart girl, Christmas Eve.
They want to do her
surgery tomorrow.
HELP.
All My love, Robin

Hi Robin, I was planning
to write you in
a few minutes about
a friend's dog when
your
newsletter popped
up. Those little
eyes of
Eve's really got
to me. I'll have
a $25.00
check in the mail
tomorrow to help
pay for
her medical expenses.
I have a request.
My
very good friend
has an English Setter
who
is almost 18 years
old. Her name is
Kirbie. Kirbie has
developed
some very serious
health issues and
needs
your mighty prayer
warriors to pray
for her.
If ever there was
a perfect dog, this
girl
is the one. In the
almost 18 years I've
known
her she has been
the perfect lady---so
gentle
and sweet. Like I
said the health problems
are serious and her
mom is quite upset.
So
please remember Kirbie
and her mom, Claudia
on your next prayer
list. I told Claudia
I was going to do
this and she is fine
with
it. Kerry Ruffner

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
