Dear Small Pawsers,
Welcome to our newest members of our Small Paws® Rescue Online Newsletter, especially to those of
you who have seen us on Fox and Friends in New York City, or on Animal Planet on "Dogs 101."
Welcome! We hope you enjoy reading about
the Bichons and the people who love them!
If you missed our last newsletter, here it
is.
Well, it's December the 20th and there are
five days left before Christmas.
We had already battened down the hatches,
in preparation for the Christmas Holidays,
making sure that every Bichon currently in
rescue with Small Paws, had a safe place
to be.
Bonnie Ferguson and I were looking forward
to taking some time off to rest and spend
with our own dogs and our families as we
try to do each Christmas season.
Then it happened. Boom from out of no-where.
We got an e-mail from an Humane Society in
MO. It is NOT a no-kill shelter.
This is what the shelter worker told me.
Yesterday, a man heard quite a commotion
going on yesterday next door to his house.
He went to see what was going on. It was
his neighbor, a commercial
kennel, and he was out gathering up 13 Bichons,
which were to be shot.
The neighbor took these Bichons back home
with him and called the Humane
Society which is NOT a no-kill shelter.
This is in the middle
of an area with so
many commercial kennels.
She said they have
no cage space for them,
even for them to
be kept there for a short
time. Everyone is
so very full.
They contacted us.
One of these Bichons is supposedly very pregnant
and "about to pop". Six are
pups ( I don't have ages or sizes yet) and
the other six are adults.
There was no one else that can take these
dogs. We asked.
So we have committed
to them now.
I will go to pick them up in MO tomorrow
and will bring them back to Tulsa tomorrow
afternoon or early evening.
I thought I wasn't going to need to send
out another newsletter until after Christmas.
You guys, I am so very sorry!
Is there anyone who can help us to pay the
vet bills for these 13? Is anyone even online?
We need your help. I have no idea what kind
of shape they are in, ages, sexes, nothing.
I only know they were about to be euthanized
with a gun by their owner when a neighbor
stepped in and stopped it.
Yes, this is a legal method of euthanization
in Mo.
That is all of the info I have right now.
It runs about $500-600 to vet and quarantine
each adult from a commercial kennel, and
that's if nothing else is wrong.
Pregnant females can mean an emergency C-section.
I have no idea who or what the Daddy is,
what size he was, nothing.
It seems that these 13 found weren't wanted.
Now, they have been
guided to us.
Our inn is pretty
full too.
Can you find a place
in your hearts to
help
us to help them?
If I know we can pay for their vet care I
will be able to drive there and back, to
get them and bring them on home, without
wondering, "What in the world have we
done, here?"
This is how you can help. We do need your
help! They need you. I thank God for each
of you, especially at times like this. All
My Love, Robin

Dear Robin,
My Grandson Arthur
is in pre op as I
type
to get a second central
line put in.
He will be starting
chemo tomorrow and
will
be having a bone
marrow transplant
on Monday
December 20th.
Arthur just turned seven last month and has
a combined imunodefiency disorder and a lung
disease Bronchiectasis.
He is smaller than
his 20 month old
brother
and this may be his
only chance to grow
up.
Please ask the prayer
warriors and all
of
the Small Paws family
to pray for Arthur.
Thank You

Hi Robin,
I know it has been
awhile since I have
e-mailed
you but SPR and you
are always in my
prayers. I will try
to keep
this short as I know
you are very busy.
I am asking you to
please keep Chris
and
I in your prayers.
Last
year at this time,
Chris was told that
his
salary was being
cut by
$68,000. He kept
this from me until
about
3 weeks ago as he
wanted to
protect me. Our entire
life's savings is
gone and we have
just
filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.
We will know
on January 10th whether
our
filing has been approved.
I ask that you
pray it is approved.
We
are going to keep
the cabin in GA and
hope
to move there in
April. We
told Brant and Edith
about it and they
have
been very supportive.
I
know they are excited
that we are moving
closer to them as
are we. We
love them as they
are family to us.
We have
not been happy since
moving to Wisconsin.
The first thing was
the situation of
having
three Bichons and
having to move out
of our
condo because of
the two
dog limit and as
a result of all this
I ended
up in the hospital
twice because of
stress but the insurance
wasn't paying my
bills
because Chris's boss
did not change us
from
the Florida network
to
Wisconsin so we had
to pay for most.
We are
still trying to get
this
settled. Even though
we are losing almost
everything and probably
would not be in this
bad of a situation
if
it hadn't been for
having
the problems with
the condo, Chris
and I
would not change
our
decision. We love
our three Bichons
and having
them and each other
means more than any
material things in
this
world. Their
unconditional love is priceless!! As long
as they are happy and
taken care of, that
is all that matters
to
us. Our cabin is
only
12x24 but we will
make it work as long
as
we are together.
The Fluff
Brigade love being
at the cabin and
I am
sure they will have
no
trouble adjusting.
Again, please keep
us
in prayer and as
soon as
this is settled and
we move, I hope to
become
more involved for
SPR
in GA. We continue
to keep SPR and you
in
prayer and we will
pray
that all the little
ones that need to
be
placed in foster
homes will
be there by the new
year. We wish you
a VERY
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND
A
WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!! MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS
SPR AND YOU ALWAYS!!
Love,

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
