Gem Of The Day: Still no time for a gem today.
Emergency help needed!

This is the one we were told had been euthanized
but when we checked again to be sure, he
wasn't gone yet! We have him now! He is SAFE!
All of the Bichons we rescued today are socialized
and friendly!
The shelter miscounted! There are SEVEN not
SIX babies and they appear to be five weeks
old, not two weeks old, according to the
shelter's intake papers!
The mama is a very young female, with white
teeth, and very friendly!
She let them hold
each of her babies!
This means that Sara Pace and Kathy Macpherson
rescued SEVENTEEN Bichons today from a kill
shelter! (The sound you hear is of me hyperventalating.)
We will always remember this rescue as they
all came in with the Hurricane.
This makes this be one GOOD thing about this
stormy day!
We desperately need your help!
Scroll down for the latest pictures of them
at the vet's office!

Welcome! We hope you enjoy reading about
the Bichons and the people who love them!
If you missed our last newsletter, here it is.
At last count, we had raised "$2,090
at 9:00 PM for the 8 in kill shelters."
So we were already
$3000.00 short before
rescuing an additional
four Bichons from
the same kill shelter
as well as SEVEN babies.
The babies are FIVE
weeks old, not two weeks.
The shelter has had
them for two weeks, but
they were three weeks
old when they came
in, according to
paperwork.
There are five boys and two little girls.
This means we rescued SEVENTEEN Bichons this
morning, Lord help us!
It will costs $5500.00
more than we have
right now just to
vet these shelter
Bichons.
We have this challenge
for $250.00 if anyone
can match it, Thank
you Sherry!

Hi Robin - I'm issuing a $50 challenge in
honor of little Moses, my SPR foster who
died very suddenly and unexpectedly when
a blood clot went to his lungs after heartworm
treatment. Here's hoping that none of these
newly found rescues is infected with heartworms.
With all the hurricane rain on the east coast
the mosquitoes will be right there, so everyone,
please remember to give dogs the monthly
preventative. When it comes to heartworms,
an ounce of prevention is worth a TON of
cure!

And from Sue Hodges
in Southern California,
we have this "Chapter
Two" challenge
for $100.00! Thank
you Sue!

Hi there Robin,
With the numbers in Illinois increasing I
cannot keep up with them but God Bless Sara
and her team in the Midwest putting these
fluffs in safe places. In loving memory of
my sweet girl Lexi who was taken from us
suddenly at the end of June due to Hemangiosarcoma,
I would like to send a challenge of $100
as Lexi’s 13th Birthday would have been on
9/8/11. God Bless you Lexi I still miss you
everyday!!

Robin, .the best gem of the day would be
more people stepping up to the plate, I look
at my four and my biggest concern is how
to get them outside today to do their business,
the rain has started, it will be a belly
band day.
I digress, what is
happening in Chicago
is
reprehensible, where
is the humanity,
oh,
I forgot that falls
on you and the rest
of
the team, I just
want everyone to
know that
I love Sara Pace,
her heart has no
boundaries
when it comes to
all fluffs
or anything else
-- she exemplifies
humanity.
Thank goodness for
her husband Scott,
what
a giving and supportive
husband. Please,
I ask everyone especially,
my fellow New
Yorkers to give,
I'm sure everyone
is still
on their computers
checking the storm
etc.
we are so lucky that
are pets are loved
and
safe, so many thanks
to those who always
step up to the plate.
For those who are
new
or haven't, please
if you can go out
of your
comfort zone and
give, with that another
$100.00 challenge
to one and all. Deborah
and Boris>

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
