Gem of the Day: "I am only one, but
still I am one. I cannot do everything, but
still I can do something; and because I cannot
do everything, I will not refuse to do something
I can do. "
~Edward Everett Hale~

"Nala" in Ohio needs a growth removed
from her little back leg. After paying our vet bills last Monday night,
our bookkeeper, Dave Hagadorn, told us that
we were in the red by $631.00. :( See more

Ok, we have a little one in Ohio who needs
surgery to remove
a tumor on her little foot.
Her vet bill will
be between $660-$800.00.
Normally, I would try not to come to you
with a bill this size but after paying our
vet bills last Monday night, Dave Hagadorn
told us that we were in the red by $631.00.
:(

which is an average
of $2237.37 per day.
It is costing us an average of over $2000.00
a day, to pay our
vet bills.
And it's August. So many people are away
during the month of August it seems, and
yet the needs of the Bichons we have in rescue,
seem to be up.

Robin,

Nala came to us 1
wk ago from a KY.
kill
shelter. (She too
came with the help
of
Pilots-N-Paws:) ) Nala is estimated to be 12-14. Her owners
dumped her at the
shelter because they "didn't
want her any more."
:( She is being
quarantined at Groveport
Animal Clinic and
when the vet examined
her yesterday she noted
a growth (approx
2 in.) on Nala's back foot.
Dr. Franklin needs
to know whether to take
it off when she does
the spay and dental,
which is currently
scheduled for Friday.
The additional cost
would be about $415
including
sending off for a
pathology report.
That would bring
the total for spay,
dental
and growth removal
to between $660 and
$800
(the difference being
whether she needs
teeth
removed or not).
Another option would
be to do a needle aspirate
and send it of for
pathology ($140) before
deciding whether
or not to remove the growth,
but that doesn't
sound like something you
would want to do.
If it's any consolation,
she came to us
with ALL her shots
and a hw test. The
only
thing she needed
(we thought) was
a spay
and dental.
Please let us know
if it's ok to proceed
with her surgery
on Friday.

We need to remove that growth, so that she
will be adoptable.
A Bichon this age can have a lot of zip left!
Below is a recent short video of our Reagan
Pressnall, who is almost two and acts like
a puppy, and our Spunky the Monkey Pressnall,
who is 12 1/2 and acts like a puppy since
Reagan came! Ha! Chipper Pressnall, the one
in the video caught stealing a dead kleenex,
is 13 1/2 and he loves his toys and loves
to play with Reagan and Spunky the Monkey!
They all walk a mile a day in the mornings
with their Dad.
See the video. (Reagan is in the blue collar and 12 1/2
year old Monkey Man
is in the red one. This
goes on all day at
our house!)
We need help for
this little one who
lost
her home and everyone
she knew because
she
had the nerve to
get older.
She needs your help
so we can authorize this
surgery.
I am here and will
issue all matching challenge
donations.
Nala needs us. She needs you.

update Cookie in

Just had to get on
here and tell you
about
our visit with Cookie
tonight. After all
of the “not so good
news” last night
we got
good news tonight.
They want to send
her
home tomorrow if
nothing changes tonight.
Cookie’s platelets went from 44,000 to 87,000
in one night and her RBCs went up 2%. The
doctor said that shows that her bone marrow
is working and they found evidence of new
RBCs being made. She still isn’t eating for
them but she took a pill pocket from me and
2 spoonfuls of turkey meat. We might have
to syringe feed her when she comes home but
we will gladly do that and she will probably
start eating a little better after she comes
back home.
We are just so excited that she might be
coming home tomorrow.
Suppose to have some storms coming possibly
so better get off of here. Just wanted to
let you know that GOD is great and the power
of prayer is real.
Thanks again for
all of your prayers
and
for your support.
Just can’t thank
everyone
enough.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
