Welcome! We hope you enjoy reading about
the Bichons and the people who love them!
If you missed our last newsletter, here it is.
These are the latest Ohio Bichons that we
rescued last week from a small county shelter
where a backyard breeder had taken several
small breed dogs.
Remember, there were
supposed to have
been
seven, but three
of the seven turned
out
to be Maltese and
went to another rescue
group.
This is from Sharon
King, one of our Ohio
Team Leaders.
Thank you Sharon
for getting these
pictures
for us at the vet's
office, there!
And, thankfully,
we do have local Ohio foster
homes for these three
girls and one boy!

Amos, Alexa, Alice and Alaina. They all seem
nice. We won't know their approximate ages
until next week.

Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Mustain. I
don't know why.)

And we have one more interesting matching
donation challenge for these recent ones.
If up to eight of you are able to donate
$30.00, each, Carol Ronk will match all eight
of you!
Thank you Carol!

challenge
Hi Robin,
I just got this link
from a friend and
would
like to share it
with this group of
amazing
people that have
hearts for helping
all these
little bichons that
cannot help themselves.
Now That's God!
Thank you for all
that you have started and
all that you do.
I'd also like to offer a
matching challenge
for the Shelby and the
new bichons that
came in and I will match
up to 8 people's
donations of $30 each.

And we have this
update about our
little
amputee, Shelby.
Shelby was in a GA.
shelter with a broken
leg that was broken
some time ago.
He was dragging it
on the pavement.

We got Shelby out of the shelter and to the
vet where they told
us that leg would have
to be amputated.
It has been done
now, and Connie Mitchell
gives us this update.

Shelby is out of
surgery and beginning
to
wake up. Dr. Amy
said that he did
very well
even though we agreed
that he lost everything
on him that dangled.
:) He is groggy due
to large amounts
of painkillers. Dr.
Amy
said I could call
again tonight and
in the
morning to check
on him. Of course,
I just
want to go out and
hold him in my arms
for
two weeks but I am
sure that he will
have
the entire staff
wrapped around his
little
paw. He is a charmer!
I will keep you posted
when I know anything.
Thanks so much for
being there for all
these
wonderful little
guys and girls. God
sure
knew what he was
doing when he put
you in
charge of all his
fluffs. But doesn't
He
always.
Love, ~C.

Thought you could
use a little good
news
with all the sadness
that has happened
lately.
Just talked to Shelby’s
vet tech. He is doing
great! Wonderful
appetite this morning.
Will
not do his business
in his cage, waits
to
be walked outside.
Perfect recovery
so far.
They will call me
if anything changes
over
the weekend and,
of course, I will
call for
updates Monday morning.
I know that you are
very busy so you
will
only hear from me
if there are major
changes
in his condition.
No news from me will
indeed
be good news.
I hope it’s not as
hot out there as
it is
here. Just another
day in, um, Paradise.
I heard the other
day that Satan called
and
he wants his weather
back. Kisses from
me,
Sam, Baxter SPR and
Charlie (formerly
Neddie)
SPR. I’m sure PD
SPR sends her best
greetings
from Colleen’s house
as well. I am sitting
on the floor typing,
surrounded by walls
and walls of moving
boxes that are waiting
to be unpacked. Sam
keeps dropping his
ball
on the keyboard so
I guess he is trying
to
tell you something
special, probably
that
he is a good Bichon
boy who loves you,
too,
even though Small
Paws didn’t rescue
him.
He is grateful for
the seemingly endless
string of brothers
that you have sent
his
way.
All the best, C~

Shelby continues
to do well. He spent
some
time with Dr. Amy
in her office today
“just
hanging out.” I have
a feeling he will
be
wearing a little
white coat, a stethoscope
and be seeing patients
by the time his quarantine
is over.
They said that we
could come visit
him but
I am conflicted about
that. He has been
through
so much and I don’t
want to upset him
if
he thinks he might
be able to leave
and he
can’t leave yet.
He was not very happy
with
us when we left him
last week although
he
went on down the
hall with his vet
tech,
Cori, without being
carried. If you have
time to let me know
your feelings about
this
I would welcome you
input. I will go
out
to see him every
day if you think
that it
is in his best interest.
So sorry to hear
about Daisy. Praying.
Love from all to
all of you.

So that's a day in the life of this magnificent
obsession we call Small Paws Rescue.
All My Love, Robin
P.S. Dave Hagadorn said to tell you that
the vet bills for this week would be ready
this evening. He has to make some calls today,
to get a couple of things on some of the
bills clarified. Some of the bills from some
of these vets are sometimes hard to interpret!
Like they are in a completely different language,
it seems!
See Vet Bills Paid by Small Paws Rescue in July
of 2011 Totalling
$31, 208.99 for the First
Eighteen Days of
July, which is an average
of $1, 733.83 per

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
