We have an emergency surgery which needs
to be done IN THE MORNING in Tarpon Springs,
Florida.
Florida Co- Team Leader, Vickie Inglee, wrote
this about an owner surrender named "Daisy"
who came in only yesterday.
The estimate for what the vet did today and
for surgery tomorrow. It is for $1039.60
which already includes a rescue discount.

These are the x-rays for Daisy Small Paws.
As you can see her bladder is plum full of
stones. Doc says they need to come out asap.
The estimate for the surgery is for $749.60.
That includes our discount, and we spent
$290.00 today. She was scheduled to go to
her foster home today (day of rescue and
exam) but that is on hold until we get these
stones out. I will keep her until that is
done. Doc also says she is a keeper and so
sweet. She is only 6 yrs old. I will send
a photo right after this email but I wanted
you to see the x-ray.
What worried me is that Doctor Hassle told
me about a dog that new clients brought in
for an autopsy this morning because they
feared the neighborhood bully next door had
kicked their dog and that is why he died.
What really happened is that the dogs bladder
ruptured from stones. When I saw Daisy’s
x-ray I have to say my heart sank into my
stomach. I hope we can get her funded asap.
Thanks, Vickie>
Now normally, bladder stone removal surgery
isn't a life threatening emergency, and can
usually wait a few days, depending on the
size of the stones.
So I asked for a letter from the vet's office,
confirming that this is an actual emergency.
It is.

To Whom It May Concern:
Today, Vicki Inglee, a representative of
Small Paws Rescue, brought in a newly surrendered
bichon named "Daisy" to be evaluated
by our clinic. Upon examination, Dr. Hassell
palpated the abdominal wall and could feel
bladder stones. For confirmation of his findings,
we took abdominal radiographs, and found
the bladder to be full of "bladder stones."
If these stones are not removed with emergency
surgery, they could in fact rupture her bladder.
We are highly recommending cystotomy surgery
first thing tomorrow to keep from any further
discomfort . If there are any questions concerning
her recommended medical treatment, please
do not hesitate to call our office.

"Daisy" Flynn
Thank you for praying for our Small Paws
Rescue Online Auction model, Sally Flynn's
13 year old "Daisy"!
Daisy came home from
the hospital last night
after three days
in ICU. She went from being
"limp and unresponsive"
to coming
home with her Mama
after catching a virus
from a visiting friend's
sick dogs. They
recovered, but little
Daisy almost died.
Thank you for praying!

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
