Gem of the Day: "Love of animals is a universal impulse, a common ground on which all of us may meet. By loving and understanding animals, perhaps we humans shall come to understand each other."

We have some matching donation challenges for Lady, in Florida, who needs surgery to remove a tumor.

We have raised only about $300.00 so far. This is only about a third of the way there.

Small Pawser, Kathy Fritz, and 9 year old "Lady".
She was rescued from a certain death in a shelter in Florida.
(Lady, not Kathy)

I imagine Lady was left at the shelter because she has this golf ball sized mass on her hip/leg area. The vet wants to remove it and to biopsy it.
It is NOT a lipoma. (fatty tumor)
It is hard and immovable.

First, from our friend Sue Hodges, in Southern California, we have this matching challenge for $100.00. Thank you again Sue! Is there anyone who can match Sue?

Robin, Please issue a $100.00 matching challenge to help with these emergencies. Best of luck!

Hi Robin,
All of this breaks my heart to read and yet you have to write all of this. So many thanks to the volunteers who are on the front lines like yourself, Sara and all the rest. With that please issue a $100.00 challenge. Also, many thanks
to the folks who have met my past challenges. I'm hoping that the goodwill continues. Best, Deborah and Boris>

And from Dr. Shelly Selph in Washington state, we have this memorial challenge,
Shelly, we are so sorry about the loss of your friend. Thank you for making this challenge in his honor.

In memory of my friend, Ken, who passed away this morning, but who loves his little yorkie-poo, Buddy, I would like to issue a $100.00 challenge. Ken was a wonderful man.

Thanks, Shelley>

And From Sindy Parsons, Mom to little Starbucks, we have this challenge.

Starbucks was one of our heart babies who was not a surgical candidate.

"Buck Boy" passed away recently, at home. in his sleep.

Sindy, thank you for this challenge in little Buck's name.

Buck Boy Parsons

I would like to do a matching challenge for $250 for the needed surgery in memory of our Buck Boy. I know he would want this little girl to have a chance just like the opportunity he had, to have some good years. Sindy>

That's where we are.

The need is high and our funds are not.

We need it to be able to provide what these Bichons need, in order for them to be able to be adopted, so they can give and receive love, to a human being.

All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
