"Remie" is doing well and they tell us that she should pull through!

The emergency vet bill estimate at The Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas. was for $2000.00, just from Friday Night through this morning. That doesn't include any of her aftercare or her regular vetting that we will need to do when she is better.

I'm estimating her entire bill will be around $3500.00 IF she is heartworm negative.

Lately, it seems that anytime we turn around in Texas we are seeing Heartworm disease!

I spoke with the emergency vet last night and Remie is now able to be returned to the Colleyville Animal Hospital in Colleyville Texas.

When she is ready, she will be fostered by Small Paws Volunteer, Molly Smith. Thanks everyone for helping her!

Ok, we didn't get a break between Remie and the next life or death emergency.

Sunday afternoon, Sara Pace called me.

There are FOUR very Bichonly looking dogs in danger of being euthanized at a shelter near Chicago.

Sara is going to call me from the shelter this morning.

If we can raise funds to rescue these four, it will cost an average of $600.00 each to vet and quarantine each of them in this area. That's if nothing else is wrong with them.

That's an additional $2400.00 that we weren't expecting.

Since neither of these two matching challenge donations have been met yet for Remie, I'm going to leave them up in hopes that we can raise the rest of what we will need for her vet bill.

Then we also need to raise funds for these four in immediate danger.

From Byron Byrne, we have this generous challenge that he will match up to $2000.00.! Thank you Byron, so very much!

I will match all other challenges up to the total cost of Remie's needs up to 2000.00 (my share). It's been a while since I have given to this GREAT CHARITY but this little one got me off my butt. THIS CONTRIBUTION IS IN MEMORY OF "SHADOW" (6/28/92-5/29/02) who was not a bichon but a toy poodle. I found Small Paws Rescue while looking for a tombstone for shadow after his death from lymphoma. I still miss him.
Thanks,
Byron>

Then we have a second generous challenge for $1000.00 from Mike Bush in North Texas! Thank you Mike, again!

Robin,

I'll match Sue's challenge and also match any amount up to $1000 for Remie.
That little girl is in my neck of the woods and I want her to have a chance at a
forever.home.

Mike Bush>

I'm sorry this is all hitting at once!

When it rains it pours!

All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
