If you missed our last newsletter, here it is.
We have one more
matching donation challenge
to issue. It is below.
Guys, we aren't keeping up. They are falling
faster than we can vet them.
Funds have been coming in very slowly this
week, while the number of Bichons in death
row in shelters has risen.
We have been able to catch everyone so far,
but paying their vet bills is something for
which we need your help.
This is from Sara
Pace., our Team Leader
to IN. and IL.

Robin,

Nelson
It is raining bichons in IL and IN again
(3 more fluffs in 3 days)!!
This is Nelson. He is a bichon-maltese mix
and is estimated at 3-4 yrs old. He was at
a shelter in the Chicago suburbs that is
a very high kill facility. I think he just
needs quarantine, dental, HW and fecal. Estimated
costs $500.00.
He is very sweet
and in need of a
bath and
groom.
I also just got a
owner turn in from
Janet
for a 10 yr old male,
in FT Wayne, IN.
I
will call the owner
tomorrow.

Ricky
We also got a 2 yr old male, we named Ricky
from a high kill shelter. Yes, another one
on death row. He will need dental, quarantine,
HW and fecal. I think he is up to date on
vaccinations. Estimate us $500.00.

This is what was
on the owner surrender
for
the 10 year old.

<Your City and State?: Fort Wayne, IN
Name of Bichon/BichonMix in need of rescue::
XXXX
Is this dog a Bichon
or Bichon Mix?: Yes
Dog's age:: 10
Sex of dog:: Male
Has this dog been
Spayed or Neutered?:
Yes
Can you tell us why this dogs needs to be
rehomed?: I have had XXXX since he was a
puppy. He is my best friend and this is killing
me that I have to contact a rescue organization
for help. I am going through a divorce. I
am a student, working part-time, and a mother
of 5 year old twins. XXXX is a wonderful
animal; this is breaking my heart, but I
feel I have no choice. I refuse to take him
to the animal shelter because I know they
will put him down and it scares me to think
of him sitting in a cage all by himself.
I have thought hard about taking him to the
vet to be put down because I feel that at
least then I know it is over, I will be with
him, and he will not be sitting in an animal
shelter alone and scared and placed with
God knows what kind of people. I would feel
comfortable giving him to an organization
that is dedicated to Bichons and appreciates
the breed. I also know that you would never
place him in a home that would not treat
him properly. If he can not be placed in
this type of organization, I am afraid that
I may not have a choice but to contact the
vet. This has been weighing very heavily
on my heart.>
So, you can see that
without us, this
little
guy will not survive.
This is why we are
here, as a last line
of
defense.
We need to be the
ones who are standing
between
a Bichon and death.
It's as simple as
that.
I don't even know
if I'm even explaining
it right, about how
important it is that
we be able to afford
to to take in Bichons
like the ones listed
above.
It is simply life
or death.
No exaggeration.
Just the facts.
Bonnie Margolis (openingstar@aol.com ) from CT has issued 3 matching $25 challenges.
One for Rosie, 13
yrs. 5 months and
one for
Gabriel, 8 yrs 5
months, and one for
her
beloved angel Sammy
MOE at The Rainbow
Bridge.
who all wish that
every Bichon had
a loving
and safe home.
I'm leaving for CT.,
first thing in the
morning
for the CT. Small
Paws Bichon Bash.
I've got to start packing but I am praying
that some of you are online and can help.
They are coming out
of the woodwork. Without
us, they die.
We can't keep taking
them if we can't
pay
for their care.
Thank you so much
for supporting this
rescue
effort.
All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
