Gem of the Day:

The Hidden Power of the Heart
"You may not always be able to feel a deeper heart feeling right away, but stay focused in the heart. The sincerity of your effort can reconnect you to your heart current and start the juices flowing. To plug in, think of someone you love or remember what feels good, maybe a fulfilling experience. Feelings help you remember."
~Sara Paddison,~

The Heart Murmur Bichons

"Macy" will be our 77th Heart Murmur Surgery
7 month old "Macy" has a grade SIX out of a possible SIX heart murmur.
Discounted cost to repair her heart murmur will run right at $2000.00 at MedVet in Worthington, Ohio, if we can get her there and raise funds for her.
World renown cardiologist, Dr. Thaibinh Nguyenba, would be doing her surgery.

Click here to see a short movie of little Munchkin.
Three year old "Munchkin" has both a torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) AND a Grade 5 out of 5 Luxating Patella. He is in pain. He needs surgery in OKC , where he is being fostered. The surgery would be done by Dr. Skip Tangner at the Veterinary Surgical Center in OKC, as soon as we can raise the funding.
Discounted cost of torn ACL surgery, which is the most crucial of his two surgeries and is the one needing to be done first, is $1087.00.

My new puppy mill girl is doing SO well. With my first SPR fluff, Sachi, I missed the fact that I didn't get to experience her puppyhood as she was over a year old when I got her. I missed seeing her make new discoveries and acquire new skills and learning to play and all the stuff that puppies do. Well this week, my 8-year old puppy mill girl, Tia, (who I've had for 6 weeks) has really blossomed! I just love watching her discover new things and grow in trust and playfullness and love. She is so sweet and gives gentle little kisses.

Just now, Tial let me know that she would like to make a challenge of $25 for each week she's been here for $150 for the two fluffs who are hurting because she is so grateful to not be hurting anymore.

Shelley, Sachi, Tia, and Benedict>

And we have this challenge from Judy Parker we have this challenge for $100.00. I hope someone can match this one too!

And from Heather we have this challenge for $10.00. Thank you Heather!

HI Robin: Please issue a $10.00 challenge to all of who have had a Bichon in need of emergency medical care. I issue this challenge in memory of my Little Zoe who had inflammatory bowel disease and needed constant medical care, even though my challenge is a small amount, every $10.00 helps.

God Bless you Robin.

And from The Villagesss Florida's Friendliest Home Town, we have this challenge for $100.00 from Lynn McGibney. Thank you Lynn!

Robin,

Please issue a $100 matching for Munchkin and Macy or you can use my $100 to match someone else. Please use the funds so you can get the most money for Munchkin and Macy.

I know I do not tell you enough how much I appreciate what you do for all the bichons everywhere. Thank-you for all your hard work and the fundraising you do as you have saved so many lives.

Please issue a matching challenge from Minnie & Sadie for $50 each and hope there are lots who can give that amount! Janet>

And LIVE from Manhattan, in New York City, this is a talking E-card matching challenge with a message from Deborah Berger herself.. It's for $100.00. Thank you again Deb. So much.

Ok, those are our challenges for little Munchkin and Macy.

I'm off to speak to a group of students about responsible pet ownership, at Thoreau Academy here in Tulsa. I'm taking one of our foster dogs. The teacher is a Bichon Dad and asked me to come be a guest speaker today in a class called "Dogs 101."

I'm going to tell the kids to go home and tell their parents that they were all signed up to be volunteers for SPR and that it's required for their kid to graduate.

Hey. That could work. All My Love, Robin

Robin,

In your last newsletter you said you hated asking us for money again and
again. Please don't apologize for asking for money for vet bills. Think of it
this way instead: you are offering us the chance to help and to be a part of
making a small piece of the world a better place:-)

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
