If you missed our last newsletter, here it
is
Well, it finally happened.
Someone abandoned their dogs in a shopping
cart, in the hot sun, in a Walmart parking
lot near Phoenix AZ.
This is their story. These precious little
ones need our help. The little girl has a
nasty abscess in her mouth which needs attention
as soon as possible.
As usually, we told them that their parents
were kidnapped by aliens and that's the only
reason they were left alone. (I figure there's
no reason for them to know the truth because
it's too terrible.)
This is from our AZ Team Leader, Derek Phelps.

Hi Robin:
I have attached a photo of Samson and Delilah,
approximately 3 yrs. old
each.
The Bonded pair of
Pups that we took
in this
past week here in
Phoenix, AZ.. (Editor's Note: The Vet said
they "freaked out" when one was
taken from the sight of the other. They are
definitely bonded.)
They were found abandoned in a shopping cart
in the middle of a
WalMart parking lot out in the hot sun, scared
and dehydrated.
A good Samaritan
that found them called me.
They are now safe
and part of our Small Paws
Family.
It is estimated that it will cost around
$800.00 for their vet exams,
vaccinations, heart worm testing, grooming,
quarantine boarding, and dentals.
Poor little Delilah's'
front teeth are "ground
down" to almost
the gum
line, with a very
large abscess that will
need attention right
away.
I am hoping our Small
Paws Warriors can
come
together to help
out Samson and
Delilah.
They are absolutely
super sweet and precious
and so deserving
of
the best life we can provide them with.

We have this matching
challenge to get us
started for Sampson
and Delilah, LIVE from
Manhattan, in New
York City, from Deborah
Berger and Boris,
the Celebrity Bichon!
Click here to hear their matching donation
challenge for $100.00. Is there anyone out
there who can match them?
We're expecting a matching grant from Pepsi,
that we thought would have been here by now,
and and it will get us up to having about
a $1000.00 balance but at least we would
be in the black.
It may not be here until the next quarter,
so as we wait or it, Samson and Delilah need
our help. Especially since their parents
have left the planet, suddenly, against their
will and all. ((sigh))
If you can help us
to help this darling
pair,
this is how to do
that.
Bless their little hearts. Left alone in
a basket like Moses.
He ended up doing
pretty well and with
your
help, these guys
will too. All My
Love, Robin

Hi: I thought I would send a note and ask for prayers for my 8 yr old bichon. She was attacked by a large pit bull yesterday afternoon (Saturday) on our way home from visiting a friend next door. This dog was running loose, it belongs down the street. Before we could get in the house, this dog ran across the street and literally tore into my bichon. After screaming and hitting and kicking the dog as hard as I could, I screamed into its ear and it finally let go of my Peaches. I took her to the vets and she is in the ICU. The doctor told me after surgery, she was waking up and doing well. They had to sew he back together. It was almost torn off, she has large bites on her neck, head and under both of her front legs. She may have damage to a nerve to her right eye. I could not believe the damage this dog has done. In process of talking to its owners. I have a vet bill of $3,000 and depending on any other procedures, might be higher. If my baby will get better, I would pay anything. As anyone else in this economy, financially this will hurt, but we do what we can do for our baby's. Please ask for prayers, to help my Peaches heal both physically and mentally. I have been a donor in the past and appreciate all the wonderful things you are doing for our bichon friends. Thank you. Jane Gardner, Aurora, IL>

Got a rather nasty bout of breast cancer
going on since September. They tried to shrink
it with a drug called Femara. Started out
as a 9 cm tumor in my right breast and it
shrunk down to 7 cm. Initially had a partial
mastectomy Feb. 11th then had a full mastectomy
March 4th. Went for a check up and doc said
I had a 2" high swath of skin that had
died and needed to be cut away (full width
of the breast). So he did that and said I
had enough healthy skin to pull over and
stitch together. Just got that checked today
and got out all my nasty drainage tubes and
"grenades" .. that's the worst
part. You feel like a robot connected to
plugs and cords, etc. LOL Stitches come out
in about 10 days.
So with the surgery
out of the way, I
have
to start chemo for
6 months and then
radiation
for 3 months after
that is over. First
infusion
will be this Monday.
I have to go back
to
work Monday too as
they keep making
snide
remarks like "my
time is all used
up"
etc. We'll see if
I get to keep my
job in
the next month or
two.
Oh well ... my spirits
are up. Please put
me in the Small Paws
Prayer Circle. I
promise
to keep in touch.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
