Jane, (janeway59@aol.com) we love you and
please know that our prayers are with you.
Next, we have an update on our precious little
McDreamy who was hit by a car back in January,
prior to coming into rescue with SPR.
Now he is doing great
now, but we did have
some complications,
and again, we need your
help for this darling
little guy.

"Dreamy"
Folks, this little one is just under a year
old and according to everyone who has been
around him, he has personality plus.
When he was hit by the car near Arlington
TX., his pelvic bone was broken. which cause
his urethra to be crushed and all but severed
clean into.
Dr. Skip Tangner, (click to see a short video of Dr. Skip
speaking) our Board Certified Surgeon, located
in OKC, OK., has gone above and beyond in
little Dreamy's case. (They call him "Dreamy."
they already love him!)
Skip went in and took out the dead portion
of the urethra and connected the two live
portions, hoping the graft would "take"
and that this would take care of the problem
of Dreamy's inability to urinate.
Unfortunately, there
was a "stricture"
and the graft failed.
Skip called and said he wanted to do a Pre-pubic
Urethrostomy, which is a surgical formation
of a permanent opening of the urethra at
the perineal surface.
Basically, there is another opening that
was created for him to be able to urinate,
and the surgery was a success.
There is still a
slight chance of
it failing
but nothing like
the chances of the
other
surgery not taking.
This little guy had
a serious injury
to his
urinary tract.
He is now on the
way back to health,
barking,
wagging his tail,
etc.
He should be able
to come home from
the hospital
on Monday.
Even with two surgeries,
and over 3 weeks
of care, our bill
is below what it
would
be in most areas
of the country.
Right now it's at
$3,645.00. We have
raised
already for him right
at $2200.00, leaving
a $1445.00 deficit.
Besides McDreamy (his name was taken from
one of the main characters on the hit TV
show, "Grey's Anatomy"), we have
many other Bichons coming into rescue daily
from kill shelters.
"Smudge",
Doesn't he look like
a "Smudge"?
Smudge is a little Bichon Mix that we took
in, in Indiana and his hips are both unable
to stay in their sockets. He is needing FHO surgery done on both sides. Yowser.

From "Sara Pace" <pacess4@att.net>
Hi Robin,
Smudge's foster mom, Heather took him to
see Dr Andrea Hayes, an orthopedic surgeon
today. Both of his hips are out of socket
and he is basically unable to walk. He needs
a bilateral FHO. They will only do one hip
at a time. He also has arthritis and is on
glucosomine and NSAIDS. The FHO for one hip/leg
is $1800-2000, they will give us a 25% discount,
so it would be $1350-1500 for each side.
That includes the surgery and post-op follow
up visits. He is in pain when he tries to
walk. His foster mom has to carry him most
of the time. He is really unbelievable, with
all this going on, he does not have accidents
and is potty-trained. He is other wise a
healthy senior dog and very sweet. He loves
to be held, sit and sleep with his foster
mom.
Can we authorize the surgery on his hips?
I included a picture
of him. He was scheduled
to be euthanized
at animal control
until
SPR rescued him.
Thank you,
Sara Pace, SPR teamleader

So just for these two fluffs, we need $4400.00
to get them finished with their vetting so
they will be ready to be adopted.
Can you help us to help them? I am happy
to issue matching challenges for Dreamy and
for Smudge! All My Love, Robin

Please add my Dad to the prayer list in newsletter
whenever one comes out.
My dad is still inpatient
at rehab hospital
after having brain
surgery. Biopsy came
back
today that it is
cancer. He had a
PET scan
done and it showed
some possible in
the lymph
nodes. But its not
brain cancer per
say as
they said it has
originated from somewhere
else in the body.
They don't have full
report
of PET scan yet so
they are hoping it
shows
where as they couldn't
give us a prognosis
cause of that. He
will have 10 radiation
treatments of the
entire brain for
now .
My dad is 82 yrs
old.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
