Dear Small Pawsers,
Welcome to our newest members of our Small Paws® Rescue Online Newsletter, especially to those of
you who have seen us on Fox and Friends in New York City, or on Animal Planet on "Dogs 101."
Welcome! We hope
you enjoy reading
about
the Bichons and the
people who love them!
If you missed our last newsletter, here it
is

Baby Furby is about 9 months old and he is
presently being fostered with one of our
Ohio Team Leaders, Sharon King, near Worthington
Ohio.
He needs PDA heart murmur repair surgery
before he goes into congestive heart failure
because his heart is overworking and has
grown to large for his chest.
Susan tells me we have raised only $680.00
of the needed 2000.00 for his surgery which
is scheduled for tomorrow.
I don't want to have to postpone this as
his cardiologists says Furby's heart is enlarged
and he could start going downhill at any
moment. He wants to go in now.
We still have these matching donation challenges
for Baby Furby's heart.
As far as I know,
none of them have
been
met yet.
If you can help baby
Furby, this is how to
do it.
If you can't help, please pray that someone
is reading this who can. All My Love, Robin
First, from Sue Hodges in Southern California,
we have this matching donation challenge.
Thank you again Sue! Is there anyone who
can match Sue? If so that will be $200.00
more towards the $2000.00 needed to save
this little guys life.

Subject: Baby Furby

Hi,
This cold morning I read about Baby Furby's
heart issue. I got on the heart reunion page
to see what was written about our Pansy SPR,
who had heart surgery two years ago! The
initial outlook wasn't totally optimistic,
so I am super happy to say her outlook for
Christmas 2010 is GLOWING! If she could speak
she would say Thank you!! So, with our fingers
and paws crossed for this baby, we would
like to issue a $50 challenge for Furby's
heart surgery.
Keep up the good
work, Jackie Richard>
And from Claire, the lazy quilter we have
this challenge for $25.00! Thank you Claire!

Dearest friends that
I haven't met yet. But
you all know who
you are. Christmas is coming,
but all of my children
and grand children
are over 21 yrs of
age.. that makes me..
old.
Susan, all of us
are running on fumes, we
all know that. But
do we really need to spend
that much more on
grand children? They're
not going to know
who gave what anyway. So
please issue a $25.00
challenge.
To all a Good Night,
and as they say in
the
military, everyone
comes back to table
for
a meal. As for Small
Paws and other rescues,
again from the military..
every morning we
wake up, it's boots
on the ground. May
God
help us as we try
so hard to "bring"
these little ones
to a loving home.
hugs
Claire with Tatter
& Junie>
And we have this
challenge for $35.00. Thank
you Melissa!

Dear Robin,
Buffy needs to take
a medication every
month
now, and it cost
$35 a month, so please
issue
a matching challenge
of $35 for Baby Furby.
Thank heavens for
Dr. Nguyenba!

And one new one from Jim Jorgenson. His last
challenge for Chester was never answered.
Is there someone who can match Jim? (I don't
want him to get a complex here..ha..)

Yes. If Chester's challenge was not met,
then please issue my challenge for $100 for
Furby's surgery. I'm so glad that Chester
is doing well. Now it is time for Furby to
excel. And thank you for all that you do.

Prayer Requests and Reports
From Robin:
If you don't have time to read the rest of
this, this is the short version. I'm going
to be ok regarding recent findings about
my thyroid! Thank you for praying for me!
The results of my eight thyroid biopsies
just came back as BENIGN and THANK YOU JESUS!
If there if going to be some rare medical
thing, you know that I'm going to be the
one with it. (That's because I'm special
I guess. Some people would say "weird",
by I digress.)
The endocrinologist believes that I have
something called "Seasonal Thyroid Something"
(the "Something is something that I
can't remember, and maybe that's a symptom..
not being able to remember the name of your
diagnoses, but I digress again.)
It's basically when your body flip flops
from making to much thyroid hormone to not
enough, coinciding with the seasons, yet
your body reacts as if it is hypothyroid,
which means it acts like it's not making
enough thyroid, all year round.
So is that clear
as mud?
I have four cold "nodules", growths,
two on each side of my thyroid gland, and
all of them, even the largest one he was
most concerned about, are benign, but he
does still want to shrink them. In order
to do that I will begin taking a synthetic
thyroid hormone replacement.
Then I'll go in after
30 days to check
blood
levels to make sure
it's the right amount.
Here is more about
what I have. Life
is good!
Thank you for praying
for me! I love each
one of you! Robin
Change of Seasons
Many thyroid patients
aren't aware that
TSH
can change along
with the seasons.
The research
shows that TSH can
naturally rise during
colder months, and
drop to low normal
or
even hyperthyroid
levels in the warmest
months.
Some doctors will
adjust for this by
prescribing
slightly increased
dosages during colder
months, and reducing
dosage during warm
periods.
Most, however, are
not aware of this
seasonal
fluctuation, leaving
patients increasingly
hypothyroid during
cold months, or going
through warmer months
more hyperthyroid.
This seasonal fluctuation
can be more pronounced
in older people,
and in particularly
cold
climates.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
