Gem of the Day: "Warning to Prevent Chocolate Overdose in
Pets this Easter"
"We encourage everyone to keep chocolate
and baked goods containing chocolate out
of reach of their pets.”
Chocolate contains
chemicals, such as
caffeine
and theobromine to
which dogs are particularly
sensitive. Theobromine
is a naturally-occurring
stimulant in the
cocoa bean, used
to make
chocolate.

Happy Easter to everyone!
First, we have an
update on little Mia who
was HBC (hit by car)
and left for four days
to lie in a cage
at a kill shelter without
pain meds, with a
pelvis that was broken
in three places.
She is doing so much
better now that she
is with us!
This is from our
Team Leader for IL. and
IN. ,Sara Pace.

We have raised under $2400.00 so far of the
needed $3500.00 to be able to take care of
Robbie, Finnegan, Mia and Smudge, in Sara's
Pace's team of IN.
and IL.
And now we have another one. It's little
12 year old Chauncey. This one needs us all.
Bless his little heart.

Chauncey Small Paws and Sara Pace
Hi Robin,
Kathy called. The
12 year old is in awful
condition. Urine
and stool covered. Nails
are so long he could
hardly walk. He has
age related cataracts
and a skin tag on his
right eye, they will
remove the skin tag
when the do the dental.
Here are some more
pics of 12 yr old Chauncey.
He is a sweet ball
of (dirty) fur!
He was sitting in
his own urine and stool
at animal control.
His nails probably
haven't been trimmed in
a very long time,
or has his hair. He is
scheduled for dental,
groom, nail trim and
what looks to be
a skin tag by his right
eye.
He will be quarantined
for 16 days. His
estimated
cost is $600. He
was pulled today
by Kathy
Macpherson (thank
goodness for her).
He would
have been euthanized
this week.
He is safe and awaiting
his new life!
Some of you may have
missed this yesterday.
A 12 year old can
have a lot of life
left
to live.
My own Spunky Monkey
is proof of this. A
12 year old Bichon
isn't the same as a 12
year old large breed
dog. Click below to

See the video taken on Wednesday of my own
12 year old "Spunky
Monkey" being
chased by"Reagan",
our foster dog,
while Chipper, age
13, referees. (Can you tell who is the 1 year old and
who is the 12 year
old?? Little Reagan is
the one chasing Spunky
Monkey!)
We are now $1600.00
short of being able to
pay the vet bills
for hit by car Mia, long
legged Finnegan,
Smudge's hip surgery, Robbie
named after yours
truly, thank you very much,
I think, and now
little 12 year old Chauncey.
We need $4100.00
just to pay for these
five
vet bills.
We have raised under
$2400.00
Heading into a Holiday
weekend, I am praying
some of you are still
here and able to
help
these little ones.
We can't continue
to take them in if
we can't
raise funding for
them.
They can't type so
they asked me to tell
you that they need
help.
Here they are again,
one more time.

Mia Small Paws was hit by a car and left
in a crate at a kill shelter where she sat
for four days without pain meds. Estimate
for vetting is $500-600.

Robbie Small Paws 2-3 years old rescued from
a high kill shelter. Estimate for vetting
is $500.00. Very sweet boy.

Finnegan and Sara. 1.5 years old. Very tall,
Vet Estimate is for $500.00.

Smudge when we first rescued him from the
shelter.
He could not walk,
his hips were so
bad,
and he was in pain.

Smudge after his first hip surgery. He felt
so much better.
His second FHO surgery was done on Tuesday.
$1800.00 - 20% rescue discount.
Thank you all so much. Have a wonderful Easter
weekend and keep the chocolate away from
the fuzzballs! All My Love, Robin

Prayer Reports and

Thanks Robin for putting the prayer request
out and for your prayers! He is in ICU. They
could not get it all out without Jeff sustaining
facial paralysis so the doctor followed Jeff's
request to not do that. It doesn't look malignant
to the doctor. I read these can grow back
and am praying that his will not. He was
shivering but they finally got him blankets
and because they had to cut some bone by
his ear and retract his brain, he had a terrific
headache. He got medicine and I am praying
they will keep him warm and comfortable with
no complications. Cerebrospinal fluid can
and does leak fairly commonly and then they
have to fix that, but I am praying his doesn't.
Your concern and prayers are so appreciated
! He really is a good man. Bonnie Margolis

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
