I pledged $5 for
every

sent
to me for my blog?

Welcome! We hope

about
the Bichons and the
people who love them!
If you missed our last newsletter, here it
is.
You all know our
Sara Pace. She is our team
Leader in IL. and
IN.
We all love Sara. She is a Super-Woman, working
two jobs as a neonatal nurse, while also
being a wife, and our Team Leader.
I'm going to tell
you about the three Bichons
who came in, just
in her area alone, since
late last week.
Also about a surgery that we missed coming
to tell you about, so we missed fundraising
for this little one, Smudge, in Sara's area.
The surgery happened today and Sara has written
a letter to you all, explaining about Smudge
and why he needs your help.
I'm hoping that some of you can come through
for little Smudge, who had his second FHO
surgery done today, even if we missed coming
to tell you about it in time.
First of all, these are the newest Bichons
needing your help in Sara's Team.
We took in a little
female Bichon that was
hit by a car, and
was left in a crate on
the porch of a shelter,
with a fractured
pelvis.
then, she went without pain meds for four
days, in the shelter.
The shelter shaved
her due to heavy
matting
and I can only imagine
how painful that
was
for her.

Mia Small Paws
Hi Robin,
Here is a picture of Mia Small Paws. She
was hit by a car and taken to a shelter.
Tom and Kathy went to pick her up tonight.
I just found out that she was hit by a car
on April 7th and just left in a cage at the
shelter, with no pain medication. (how awful)
Dr Fitzgerald examined her and took x-rays
of her pelvis. Her pelvis is fractured in
3 places. Dr Fitzgerald does not feel that
she will need surgery but does recommend
a second opinion from the specialist.
She was placed on
antibiotics and pain
medication
ASAP! I am getting
her x-rays to our
orthopedic
specialist tomorrow
for her to review.
Currently she is
resting peacefully
in her
crate. She will need
a 16 day quarantine,
vaccinations, fecal,
heartworm test,(
spay
and dental once the
fracture is healed).
Mia is 9 lbs and
estimated to be 2
yrs old.
Her current estimated
cost are 500-600
dollars.
Sincerely,
Sara Pace, SPR teamleader IL and IN
P.S. Mia, who thank goodness, does not need
surgery. The ortho surgeon will see her in
1 month. She is being treated with cage rest
and pain meds. She was hit by a car on April
7th and left to sit at a high kill shelter
with no pain meds or antibiotics. She was
in pain when we picked her up. She is doing
so much better and is has very comfy blankets
in her crate. She is just a sweet doll and
will be adorable, once healed and groomed.
Sara<
>
Our Surgeon agreed
that no surgery is needed
at this time for
Mia. That she will heal
with cage rest.
Next, while the McPherson's
were at the shelter
getting Mia, they
came across this boy, who
needed to be rescued.
they went after one
and came out with
two.

Robbie Small Paws
This little guy Tom and Kathy picked up for
me at the same time we got Mia. His name
is now Bobby. He is 2-3 yrs old. I don't
think he had been groomed for a real long
time so we had to shave him. He will need
a 16 day quarantine, along with vaccinations,fecal,
heartworm and dental. His estimated vetting
cost is $500-600. Very sweet boy and just
happy to be out of that shelter!
Sara>
And number three
is Finnegan:

Time
From: pacess4@att.net

Finnegan and Sara
New Illinois rescue pulled from animal control.
The vet checked him.
Estimated age 1.5 yrs
old. He weighs 14
lbs. He will need quarantine,
vaccinations, neuter
and heartworm test.
His teeth are pearly
white, so no dental.
I named him Finnegan.
Estimated vetting cost
is 500.00 dollars.
He is a long legged bichon!
Sara>
So, these three Bichons alone will need $1500-$2000.00
of vetting.
Then there is little
Smudge.
Sara wanted to write this to you all to let
you know why his surgery happened without
us being able to raise funds for him first.
(He is very tiny. I can see how we missed
him.)
It's a miracle to
me that Sara can even see
straight, with all
that she has on her plate.
Sara, thank you. Thank you for everything
that you do. No apology necessary.

Smudge when we first rescued him from the
shelter.
He could not walk, his hips were so bad,
and he was in pain.

Smudge after his first hip surgery. He felt
so much better.
He had his second FHO hip surgery today.
He doesn't want to stay and wash dishes so
help is needed!
Hi Robin,
I am sitting down to write you and everyone
who donates an apology. I am usually so much
more organized than I was this week. I started
a second PRN job in the hospital and had
orientation all week. I work 12 hour shifts
in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (four
12 hours shift per wk). My passion, babies
and dogs!
I forgot to email you all the information
for Smudge's second FHO repair.
He was the 9 year
old Teddybear (bichon-shitzu
mix) that was rescued
from being euthanized.
His FHO repair was today!
Thank you for being so understanding when
I called to tell you, I forgot to email the
info. for you to raise funds.
Things don't usually
slip my mind, but
this
week, has been a
different story(6
days of
work in a row, 3
new rescues and I
am a blond
(just kidding).
Smudge had surgery today. The cost was $1800,
minus a 20% discount.
He is doing amazing! Thank you to everyone
who donated for his first surgery.
I am emailing before surgery and after surgery
pics, so everyone can see how great he looks.
His foster family reports that he is a different
fluff.
He is happy, active and very spoiled.
He will be ready
for adoption in the
next
6-8 wks.
Again, my apology for not getting the info
to you in a timely manner to raise funds.
I think you are amazing for everything you
do and am proud to volunteer for this wonderful
organization.
Thank you to everyone
from the bottom of
my heart who helps
fund these wonderful
white
fluffballs.
Sincerely,
Sara Pace, SPR teamleader
IL and IN
pacess4@att.net>
So there you have
it. Smudge needs a way
to pay his surgeon
and Robbie, Finnegan and
Mia, also need vetting.
And Sara deserves
a NAP!
Thank you Sara for
all that you so.
This is how you can help Sara, er, I mean
Smudge who had hip surgery today, Long Tall
Finnegan, Mia with the broken pelvis and
and little shaved buck necked Robbie.
I'm here and will
issue all matching
challenges
for Sara and her
saves!

Dear Robin,
I wish I could send
in enough money to
make
all your cares disappear,
but I'm on disability
and can barely make
ends meet. But I
do pray
for you and all the
dogs and all the
people
in this wonderful
organization that
are in
need. Today I ask
for prayers. I have
chronic
pain and the depression
and anxiety that
go with it and have
run into a bad patch.
Please pray for me
and my service poodle
as we are both in
need.
God Bless

I just want you all to know what a wonderful
job you are all doing. My brother, Anthony
Infante, has two of you dogs, first Puccini
and when he passed Mimi came into his life.
I really believe that my brothers life was
prolonged due to his dogs.
Unfortunately, after our mother passed in
March of 2010, my brothers health started
to decline and he passed unexpectedly on
March 23, 2011 When I found him his beautiful
Mimi was standing vigil right by his side.
The emergency team
wanted to know "what
to do with the dog"
as they couldn't
leave the dog in
the house.
I told them that
Mimi was my niece
and she
would come home with
me.
I miss my brother so much, he was my only
sibling and will always be my big brother,
but Mimi has been such a comfort for me.
When I hold her I
feel Tony's presence
through
her. She is adorable,
loves to be groomed
and now has two cousin
cats to chase around
the house.
Thank you all so much for all that you do
for this wonderful breed and for making my
brother's life more enjoyable.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
