Gem Of The Day:
"Compassion for animals is intimately
connected with goodness
of character and
it may be confidently
asserted that he who
is cruel to animals
cannot be a good man."
~ Arthur Schopenhauer

Next, we have a little girl in Northern Texas
who was a train wreck
waiting to be rescued.
She has numerous
issues and was at the point
of being euthanized
when our volunteer Don
Rorschach, stepped
in to save her.

8 year old "Doodles" has a breast
tumor which needs
to be removed immediately.

The dog belonged
to an elderly couple
who
"found"
her. The husband
died and
the wife is being
taken away to live
with
a sister. They dropped
the dog at their
groomer's
(Peggie) and asked
her to place it or
have
it euthanized by
the end of the week.
One
of her clients knew
Don and got in touch
with him. Don picked
her up this morning
and got the "Transfer
of Ownership"
form.
The dog is now at
Cityview Vet Office. I
have talked with
Dr. Hudgins, who is her
vet. She says the
lesions on her back are
not from "allergy"
as stated, but
are some kind of
burns. Dr. Hudgins said
she needs spaying,
and has an ear infection,
so they are starting
her on antibiotics.
She also has a mammary
tumor that needs to
be removed. Dr. Hudgins
x-rayed the lungs
to see if the cancer
has spread, and apparently
it is just in the
breast. She also has a
large bladder stone
that needs to come out,
and she needs a dental.
Dr. Hudgins thinks
she is close to 8
years old as we originally
though. The total
of work to be done is $1200,
which is $600.00
for us. Surgery is scheduled
for Friday, if it
is ok. Sorry but I guess
the situation was
somewhat urgent. Doodles
certainly needed
attention.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
