Gem Of The Day:
"Let's be grateful for those who give
us happiness; they are the charming gardeners
who make our soul bloom."
~ Marcel Proust~
Who can forget the day that we rescued this
2 year old Mama Bichon
and her SEVEN tiny
babies from a kill
shelter in Chicago? They
were cold and wet
and one of the babies had
already died.
They rest of them
including the Mama, were
on the list to be
euthanized!
Sara Pace and Kathy
McPherson found a
shelter
volunteer-veterinarian
to help to scooped
them up, run out
the door and ask
questions
later.

A HUGE "THANK YOU" to Tom and Kathy
MacPherson in IL. for fostering "Carly"
and her SEVEN babies for the past six weeks!
The babies are now 10 weeks old and all but one little male puppy have been adopted.
(If you are interested
in him, tell us now!)
Online Adoption Application
All of the other babies will be going to
their new homes in a couple of days, to people
who are grieving the loss of a pet or a person
in their lives.
The Mama, Carly, is sitting on the stool
in front.
Kathy wanted to have one last picture of
them all together with their "first"
Mom and Dad".
We can never thank
you two enough for taking
on this labor of
love, Kathy and Tom! Thank
you!! You have made
a difference in the lives
of many for so many
years by taking on this
huge obligation.
Thank you Kathy and Tom!

If you missed our last newsletter, here it is.
We have a case of suspected torture to a
Bichon from a human being.
He needs your help and we need your help
to be able to get him healthy.
"Remmy" is in Sacramento, California.
He's probably going to make it, so it's ok
to look, but the vet thinks he was a victim
of torture.
He was found in a
park by a good Samaritan,
who contacted us.
I have instructed our Team Leader to file
a police report in case there are other instances
of this kind of thing happening around there.
Remmy was knock-knock-knocking at heaven's
door.
This is when he was first brought to us by
the good Samaritan. At first it just looks
like a bad case of neglect. Oh contraire'.

Remmy after being shaved. You can see his
wounds. Look at his left shoulder. It is
swollen with what appear to be stab wounds.
The vets say this is not an animal attack,
or a hit by car. They feel it was a case
of torture.
Remmy's wounds.
Our Team Leader to
the Pacific Northwest,
Carrie Rogers, (auntcookierogers@hotmail.com)
said "One of
the wounds went all
the
way through They
think something went
in
one side and out
the other side and
ripped
open.OWWW!!
Despite all that he is a sweety!"
Remmy in his cone. He is still in a lot of
pain but we are doing everything that we
can for him. While he did have several embedded
foxtails, these were not the cause of these
particular wounds. His nails were also cut
off to the skin and bleeding. :(
Folks, I can't tell you yet what this is
going to cost yet to save Remmy. I can tell
you we have spent around $500.00 just to
get him to this point and he is still very
injured and infected.
He needs your help.
This is an expensive part of the country
for vet bills.
It's costing us on an average of $1200.00-
$1600.00 per day, just for our vet bills.
See below.
This is how you can help little Remmy and
I will issue all matching donation challenges.

Dear Angel Auntie
Robin,
Our little girl,
Bijou, who Sandy
Sowell
brought home to us
in 2002, will be
going
to the Bridge tomorrow.
Bijou stopped eating
over the weekend
and
just wasn't her normal
self. Test results
showed super elevated
liver enzymes and
the
x-ray showed she
has a 4 inch tumor
coming
off her liver.
She won't even eat ice cream today.
Bijou is truly her
Daddy's Girl, and
Jack
is devoted to her.
Jack has never lost
a
dog that was "his"
before, so this
is hitting him especially
hard. We know Bijou
is going straight
to heaven, but please
pray
for us, especially
for Jack.
I know sometime in
the future, you will
have
a little heart healer
for us.
Love, Susan
(God loves you more
than anyone else ever
has,
and more than anyone
else ever will!)
Hear the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir sing "So
You Would Know."
Will God let us have our beloved pet's in
heaven?

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
