Gem of the Day: "I will not leave you
orphans. I will come
to you."
~John 14:18~
(I have an app on my phone that sends a scripture
a day to me. It's called "Daily Bible"
THIS one arrived THIS morning, as God is
my Witness. Please keep praying for a home
for the CT. Four. If someone is approved
to adopt all four together, we will pay for
their airfare to get them to you. They need
a home. They need you."

Dear Small Pawsers,
Welcome to our newest members of our Small Paws® Rescue Online Newsletter, especially to those of
you who may have seen us on October 24, 2011
on Fox and Friends in New York City, or on Animal Planet on "Dogs 101.", or you may have recently read about us
in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Find Your Happiness,
101 Stories about Finding Your Purpose, Passion
and Joy , or you may have seen us on "Inside Edition" with Deborah Norville.
Welcome! We hope you enjoy reading about
the Bichons and the people who love them!

As you know, we are searching for foster
homes for the CT. Four after the death of their Mom.
We have a little more information and some
more pictures of these four precious Bichons,
from back in 2004-2005, that were shared
with us by one of our volunteers who used
to baby-sit these little ones.
We wanted to share these with you so that
you can see how well loved these little guys
were, and how much they really need to be
in a home.
They have lost everything that they know.
All they have is each other, now.
All of them have
been fully vetted now, and
are in boarding,
waiting for foster or adoptive
homes. Little Kiwi lost 14 teeth in his dental yesterday.
:(
We raised enough to cover their vet bills,
thanks to you all.
These are notes (in quotations) that were
written by their Mom, back in 2004, to their
baby-sitter.
Toni, one of our
volunteers who used to keep
these little ones
back in 2004 when their
Mom had to go out
of town, thought this information
and these pictures
might help someone who
may be thinking about
adopting or fostering
these precious babies.
Again, these are
note written by their
Mom
back in 2004.
"I've sent one of the pics of Skipper,
the one with him rummaging
through the toy basket the day he arrived.
Skipper was 9-1/2
months old when he
arrived
and just about 11
lbs.
Skipper is very needy
at bedtime, he wants
the most attention,
belly rubs and cuddles.
He is also my only
fluff that will let me
hug him and cradle
him in my arms as we fall
asleep. He remains
tightly glued to me all
night long."

(Skipper today. He was originally named "Cool
Cat" from the Doo-Wop Babies. Skipper was born Aug. 26, 2002 and is 9 years old.)

"I was just looking through my pics
and noticed I had some silly bedtime photos.:)
Including this absolutely ridiculous one
of Cassidy when he was an itsy-bitsy baby;
laying with his two favorite security blankets.
his little white dog and Skipper's bunny."
"Just a few more things about Cassidy.
I packed his duffle bag this evening:) In
addition to the things I previously mentioned,
I've also included an extra set of bedding,
his most recent health report and the name/number
of my (conventional) vet. Hopefully since
I've packed all of that, you won't need any
of it! You know how it goes. If you have
it, you won't need it. If you don't have
it, you will need it!"
Also, when he goes outside to potty, he has
a curious habit of having to check things
out underneath his tummy after he pees and
will also curl himself around to give his
tail a little nibble. He's always done that,
so I guess at this point, that habit will
never change. He does take care of business
fairly quickly, usually in less than 5 minutes.
That's good news if it's raining out! He
always poops first thing in the morning,
his second poop of the day can happen anytime
between 1 in the afternoon and about 7 PM.
That one is always a wild card. He hasn't
gone a third time in I can't remember how
long! Except when his tummy is upset, then
he will poop an extra time. What a delightful
topic"
"More on Cassidy
He is so funny laying
on his back with his
feet in the air while
I do his nails. I'm
not sure how that
got started. Maybe because
he expects me to
brush his chest which he
adores and will lay
on his back for as long
as I'm willing to
run the brush through his
hair!"

(Cassidy today. He is seven years old.)
Jenny
Jenny had strong
objections to my messing
with her ears and
feet when I first adopted
her, however she
no longer does this. :)"

(Jenny today. She is 11 years old.)
"I took Skipper and Cassidy to church
yesterday:) There is a church just a couple
miles up the road that has a once a month
"pet's welcome" service and Skipper
has been going for over a year -- it's in
addition to the annual blessing of the animals
on St. Francis' feast day. They both did
REALLY well, although Skipper was a bit confused
by the fact that Cassidy was sitting in my
lap instead of him!"
"You're right about it being scary to
find ticks on Chloe! Even though I live in
a heavily wooded area, I've been lucky. I've
only found 1 tick on 1 dog (Skipper) each
year. I do check them at the end of each
day, but haven't found anything except the
one on the inside flap of Skipper's ear last
month. I thought I found one on Jenny's leg
Friday night, but upon closer inspection
it turned out to be a lump (skin tag) of
some sort that's the size of a small tick."
"I'm not sure how/when/where Cassidy
learned to bark to go outside. Now if he'd
just teach my other kids to do that! He will
sit between my feet no matter where I am,
look up at me and bark when he needs to go
out. He also wakes up at precisely 6:30 every
morning and frantically barks until I let
him out of his crate and take him outside.
There's really no consistency in this house
as far as signals to go potty. Cassidy barks,
Jenny whines and yips, Kiwi sits up and begs,
Skipper will go to the door. "
"Just FYI, I
generally feed my kids
dinner between 6:30
and 7:00, they have breakfast
at 7:00AM. I also
give them a small treat
around 1 in the afternoon,
although I give
Jenny about a teaspoon
of dog food with lots
of water. She's a
camel -- won't drink water
at all, except for
what is in her food and
I'm so afraid she'll
develop bladder/kidney
stones."
"I really like
this one. :) Kiwi
and
Skipper after a long
day of playing!"
(Kiwi today. He was adopted from a shelter
when he was about a year old. She put his
birth date at April 17, 1999 (approximate).
He is 13 years old.)

"This is just to prove that I'm not
the only one prone
to falling asleep
on the couch!"

I found this picture on my computer from
back in 2004. It was taken
at one of our Small
Paws Bichon Bashes
in
Derby CT.
Susan is in front,
to my left, in bright
blue, holding one
of her babies.
So you can see that these little ones were
much loved and are used to giving and receiving
love.
I'm asking you from
the bottom of my
heart
to consider take
one or more of them
into
your heart and home.
They will be a blessing to you and your family.
Of this I have no doubt.
All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought
it was truly the epitome of what we do, and
why we do it. I wanted to use this black
and white picture of Humphrey, taken only
days before his death due to congestive heart
failure, to let those who may be new to Small
Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known
love. He would have died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
