They are coming at us in pairs again and
WE NEED YOUR HELP.
There are some bichons needing to come in
from kill shelters and we can't take them
until we know have funds coming to vet them.
I'm going to try to tell you about some of
them in hopes that some of you can help us,
It has been an unbelievable week and yes,
it is overwhelming.
We took in a pregnant Bichon from a shelter
in Chicago, on Saturday and we got the Daddy,
this morning. They are both in pretty rough
shape, but both are under two years old.
AND YESTERDAY WE
HAD THREE BABY BICHONS!
Two girls and a boy.

"Bloomie" (estimate $600.00 for
her vetting) and her babies, "Bloomie's
Blossom", "Bloomie's Breeze",
and "Bloomie's Brooks". We had
hoped to be able to get Bloomie groomed before
she gave birth, but those babies just were
NOT waiting!

No question. They are Baby Bichons! They
are all being fostered with Tom and Kathy
McPherson, our resident nursery foster home!

This is the Daddy, "Hopper" He
is also under two years old.
Estimate is $600.00 for vetting.
So that's five.

"Kandy" is an eight year old owner
surrender who came into rescue in horrible
shape, with mats covering her eyes and dreadlocks
covering her little body. She is in AZ. Estimate
$500-600 for vetting.
"Kandy" after her mats and dreadlocks
were shaved.
That's six.

"Finley"
is heartworm positive.
And "Finley" is a three year old
who was a good Samaritan surrender in South
Texas. He is heartworm positive.:( Estimate
is $600-$700 for his vetting.
"Can you tell us why this dogs needs
to be rehomed?: we found him on the side
of the road. his fur was all matted and he
smelled so bad. i took him to the groomers
because he looked awful. he feels better
since he was groomed. my daughter named him
Finley. he didnt want to eat the first day
BUT we got him to finally eat and now he
does not have a problem he didnt know what
a treat was til he saw my other dogs eating
them now he likes them too. I am unable to
keep Finley because i have 5 dogs of my own
which 2 are rescue dogs. Finley is such a
sweet loveable dog i which i could keep him
i just want Finley to have a good home."
That's seven.
Then in Kentucky
we have a four year old
puppymill Bichon
girl that is in a shelter.
Click here to see the short video of her.
Her name is Maggie,
and her vetting is
estimated
at $500-600.00.
That's eight.

Abby before.

Abby after shaving, is three years old.

Angel before.

Angel after shaving.
She is six,.
Then in Tenn., an owner brought these two
bonded female Bichons in, due to health issues
of the owner. Abby is three years old and
Angel is six. They must stay together. Estimated
vetting for both is $1000.00. They were in
pretty bad shape.
That's ten.
Then a Police Department in North Texas,
asked us to take this boy who arrived at
the shelter full of mats. The local shelter
shaved him but have no room to keep him.
Estimated age 2-3 years old. Estimate for
vetting is $600.00.
That's eleven.
Then there is a female
Bichon due out on
the 27th in a Chicago
Shelter. We need to
be there to catch
her. Estimate for vetting
is $600.00.
So that is twelve new lives we are going
to need to be caring
for. For the nine
adults,
that's almost $6000.00
we will need to vet
and quarantine them.
We have a matching challenge donation to
start with from our friend Sue Hodges in
Southern California for $100.00. Is there
anyone who can match her?

Subject: Re: Small
Paws Rescue
We had him for the last five years, He is
very obedient normally when we say "stay"
he will stop wherever he is, so some times
we are used to play with him in the yard
for he loves to run around the yard in circles,
during that time we did not put him on the
leash, this particular day he was not on
leash and did not yield to the command when
he saw some dog across the road. It took
off so suddenly the on coming driver did
not have time to stop the car. That is how
it happened.>
 Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought
it was truly the epitome of what we do, and
why we do it. I wanted to use this black
and white picture of Humphrey, taken only
days before his death due to congestive heart
failure, to let those who may be new to Small
Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known
love. He would have died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
