Gem of the Day: "Bear in mind, if you
are going to amount
to anything, that your
success does not
depend upon the brilliancy
and the impetuosity

but upon the ever

buldoggedness with
which you hang on after
you have taken hold."

Our South Texas Bichons
need your help.
I know that Heartworm Disease isn't very
exciting.
But, without treatment,
it is deadly. As
in "assuming
room temperature"
deadly.
As the Dr. Sung Park on the new TV series,
"Monday Morning's" says, "Dead-Dead".
I'm giving it my all to try to keep any Bichons
with heartworms from becoming "Dead-Dead".
But I need your help. I really need your
help.
What Is Heartworm
Disease?
There are no symptoms
for heartworms until
it is nearly too
late.
They come from mosquitos and if you have
even one mosquito where you live, you have
heartworms waiting to invade your babies.
We need to raise right at $1800.00 just to
treat two Bichons with heartworms, not to
mention the other Bichons who have a vet
bill waiting to be paid in South Texas.
This is Poppy, a little female about 4 yrs
old. She is high Heartworm positive (this
means the disease is advanced and she is
in danger of dying without treatment soon)
and about 7.5 lbs. She is very thin. The
cost for HW treatment and vetting, and quarantine
will be between $800- $900.00.

This is little Cherish who is 1.5-2 yrs old
and 11.4 lbs
Cherish came in last Friday. Her backside
is covered with dreadlocks. She is heartworm
positive, has hookworms and round worms,
plus she will need to be spayed. Her vetting
will be between $800.00-900.00
We have raised $910.00 so far with vet bills
in South Texas running almost $6000.00.

The vets that we owe from South Texas are
Cole's, Cypress, and Longebbough Vets.
See Vet Bills Paid By Small Paws Rescue For
The First 4 Days of
March 2013, totalling
$12, 971.03 which
is
an average of $3,
242.75 per day.
(We are having to
hold these larger
checks
until funds come
in to pay them.

Dear Robin:
So good to hear Chipper
is on the mend and
the power of prayer
is working for him!
YES!
I am sending a "Match Me" donation
for the heartworm pups in Texas from my very
own Small Paws treasure, Shuffles, now known
as Snuffs in the amount of 20 dollars. Snuff,
by the way is the best dog ever and at 13
has more energy, love and loyalty than most
dogs half her age. She is a girl who knows
what she wants and how to get it. Who doesn't
appreciate those qualities? She is so cute
too! Every day, I am thankful that Small
Paws was there to rescue her and whatever
ill fate was avoided. It should be known
too that Old dogs do learn New tricks as
she is TOTALLY housebroken. Love her and
Small Paws too!
Thanks for all of
the work you do every
day
to make the world
a kinder, gentler,
more
loving place!

As I said, I know that treating Heartworms
isn't very exciting or glamorous.
It's not something where you can see the
results, like when we repair a broken leg
after a dog has been hit by a car.
But without treatment,
the results can be
just a deadly as
being hit by a car.
These Bichons need your help in South Texas.
They have no one
to love them, but us.
All my love, Robin

Paws Rescue
We had him for the last five years, He is
very obedient normally when we say "stay"
he will stop wherever he is, so some times
we are used to play with him in the yard
for he loves to run around the yard in circles,
during that time we did not put him on the
leash, this particular day he was not on
leash and did not yield to the command when
he saw some dog across the road. It took
off so suddenly the on coming driver did
not have time to stop the car. That is how
it happened.>
 Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought
it was truly the epitome of what we do, and
why we do it. I wanted to use this black
and white picture of Humphrey, taken only
days before his death due to congestive heart
failure, to let those who may be new to Small
Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known
love. He would have died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
