Gem of the Day: "Faith is knowing one
of two things will happen..
When you come to the edge of all the light
you know, and are about to step off into
the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing
one of two things will happen: There will
be something solid to stand on or you will
be taught how to fly." ~Barbara J. Winter

National Team Leader, Joanne Raus, cares
for Spunky Monkey at a recent Oklahoma bash.
He knows her as "Aunt Joanne."
Thank you all for praying for our baby, Spunky
the Monkey Pressnall. At 5:05 PM tonight
the report came back from the radiologist
and he does NOT have ANY cancer ANYWHERE.
Thank you God!
He has a small bulge of the disc between
C 2-3 in his neck, but Skip doesn't want
to mess with it surgically. He wants to try
anti inflammatory first and see if we can
manage it that way. Thank you for praying.
I believe God hears out prayers and sometimes
changes the course of history. I am so thankful
to Him and to all of you who have lifted
us up during this roller coaster of the past
48 hours.
Spunky is in the ERR next door to Dr. Skips
tonight. He is ok! He just wasn't waking
up from all of the drugs he had today like
wanted so he is there being stared at tonight.
More below. Thank you all again!

Welcome! We hope you enjoy reading about
the Bichons and the people who love them!
If you missed our last newsletter, here it
is.
Cherish every moment with them. You just
never know when something
unexpected can
happen and things
can change.
This happened twice
in the last 48 hours
for each of our two
Bichons.
When I see a situation where I know I have
no control over the outcome, whether it by
my dogs or my family or Small Paws, it could
be anything, the one constant I know is to
stop the world, get off, and talk to Him.
Ask God to change the course of history and
if He sees fit not to do that, ask Him to
help you through whatever is coming.
They told me to come
and take the Monkey
Man home today, so
I went to pick him up.
Dogs frequently are vocal when coming out
of anesthesia.
But as we drove off
and got a couple of miles
away from Dr. Skips,
he became REALLY vocal
and was screaming
in his sleep with each
breath.
I called and asked
them if this was normal
and of course they
heard him. I'm sure that
truckers could hear
him.
They said to come
back so I did. Skip came
back up and said
he thought he ought to stay
the night in the
ER next door. (Spunky, not
Dr. Skip) just to
make sure he got all of
the drugs they used
out of his system.
He had morphine and
he may have had a reaction
to that.
If we are ever together and I'm hit by a
bus, don't let them give me morphine. It
hates me and I'm even less fond of it.
Spunky probably gets
this from me.
Finally, tonight the ER just told me he is
sitting up and looking around, though still
quite drunk, so I will take him home in the
morning after he "sleeps it off.".
I can't thank you
all enough for praying
for us today.
I have a box full of e-mail but I wanted
to let you know that there is no bone cancer
and the bulging disk is a small one that
Dr. Skip thinks can be managed with anti-inflammatory
drugs.
Dale and I are very thankful tonight!
By the way, Rocky
2 is having surgery for
that bladder stone
tomorrow and we found
a vet with a price
of 600.00 instead of $1500,00
so that is an answer
to prayer as well.
Ok, I didn't sleep
much last night. He'd
move and scream and
I'd bounce up like a
jack in the box.
You ALL know that
dance. They yelp. We jump.
And are happy to
do it.
I think I'm going
to try to get some sleep
now.
Again, thank you
all so much for loving us
and for keeping us
in your prayers.
I am blessed to know all of you. All My Love,
Robin

Subject: FOR THE NEWSLETTER: The online Bichon
Bash starts March 1!
Date: 2/27/2011 1:42:21
P.M. Central Standard
Time
From: beverlyvanzant@gmail.com

Dear Robin,
I have a challenge and a pledge for the mighty
warriors of Small Paws.
During the entire month of March, I will
be hosting an online Bichon Bash to raise
money for Small Paws on my blog at www.PetCareBev.com.
Tyler's Bichon Bash
for Small Paws Rescue!
THE CHALLENGE: During
the month of March,
I challenge everyone
out there to send
me
their own Small Paws
story, or to send
me
a photo of their
Small Paws pooch.
MY PLEDGE: For every
story or photo that
I am able to publish
on my blog, I will
donate
$5 to Small Paws.
There are 31 days
in March.
I could easily publish
31 stories--but that
would only be a measly
$155. I want to publish
2 or 3 stories a
day, and lots of
photos!
C'mon you guys! Send
me lots of stories
and
photos and force
me to eat mac and
cheese
next month so that
I can pay off my
pledge!
So to recap, I'm
spending March blogging
about Small Paws;
highlighting Small
Paws
pooches waiting for
adoption on PetFinder;
and (with everyone’s
help) sharing stories
and photos from Small
Paws members to showcase
why we all love and
support Small Paws
Rescue
(and sending $5 to
Small Paws for every
story/photo
I use).
Stories and/or photos
should be sent to
BeverlyVanZant@gmail.com. I will preserve the privacy of everyone
participating.
With your help, I’m
looking forward to
writing
a big check to Small
Paws at the end of
the
month.
All my best,
Bev>

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
