If you missed our last newsletter, here it

I am having a medical emergency with one
of my own Bichons, Chipper, and we are out
the door first thing this morning to go to
Oklahoma City to see Dr. Skip.
Chipper began having a slight head tilt and
stumbling last evening and I am hoping this
is Vestibular Disease as it is the thing
with the best prognosis.
Your Aging Bichon: Vestibular Disease
(It sounds like doggy vertigo and he probably
gets that from me.)
I'm taking him to Dr. Skip in case it is
something to do with a disc.
Please pray for us as we find out what is
wrong with my own personal baby.
I needed to get this letter out to you all
first, though about the Small Paws Rescue
Bichons.
We are not yet at a level where we are able
to operate or authorize funds for surgeries
for the SPR foster Bichons.

"Elvis" had his bladder stone removed
last Thursday. Thanks
so much to all of you
who helped him.
We presently have a situation with Rocky
2 who is near St. Louis MO., is diabetic
and has a bladder stone and he is bleeding.
We tried raising funds for him once before,
and raised maybe $400.00 for him.
His first vet said he was trying to get his
diabetes regulated before he would do the
surgery.
Then he said he couldn't
do the surgery for
a couple more weeks
due to it being Canine
Dental Month and
he was covered up with dentals
I guess.
This dog is bleeding
all over everywhere
according to the
foster mom.
We have got to do something for him.

Fahey, our Team Leader
for
MO.

Rocky2: Second Attempt
Hi ladies. We found another vet to take care
of Rocky2 - (bladder stones, bleeding and
he is diabetic). This Animal Hospital is
very thorough and professional but more expensive.
The first visit was $411 and included blood
work, antibiotics, xray. I put that on my
charge card since they wouldn't direct bill
us. Hopefully we can get a discount.
You had approved
the surgery when
we got
the estimate from
the original hospital
for
$500-600. The estimate
from the new Vet
for
the surgery (soup
to nuts) is $960-$1034
and includes everything.
The Vet is willing
to come in on her
day off (Tuesday)to
get
the surgery done.
Poor Rocky is in
a lot
of pain and needs
surgery ASAP.
Please let me know
how you wish to proceed.
Thank you so much.

Now we are trying
to find someone who
is
less expensive who
can get him right
in,
but if not, we are
going to need to
do this.
The total needed
for him is roughly $1400-1500.00
and we have raised
maybe $400.00.
We also have several
owner surrenders coming
in, asking us to
take in Bichons who are
diabetic.
We need foster parents
who can take a diabetic
Bichon. It's easy
to give the shots they
need. You can do
it. trust me. You can do
this!
Let us know if you
can help with one of several
diabetic dogs we
have who are needing to
come into rescue.
This is one of them:

Subject: FOR THE NEWSLETTER: The online Bichon
Bash starts March 1!

Time
From: beverlyvanzant@gmail.com

Dear Robin,
Could you please
mention this in the
next
newsletter?
I have a challenge
and a pledge for
the mighty
warriors of Small
Paws.
During the entire month of March, I will
be hosting an online Bichon Bash to raise
money for Small Paws on my blog at www.PetCareBev.com.
Tyler's Bichon Bash
for Small Paws Rescue!
THE CHALLENGE: During
the month of March,
I challenge everyone
out there to send
me
their own Small Paws
story, or to send
me
a photo of their
Small Paws pooch.
MY PLEDGE: For every
story or photo that
I am able to publish
on my blog, I will
donate
$5 to Small Paws.
There are 31 days
in March.
I could easily publish
31 stories--but that
would only be a measly
$155. I want to publish
2 or 3 stories a
day, and lots of
photos!
C'mon you guys! Send
me lots of stories
and
photos and force
me to eat mac and
cheese
next month so that
I can pay off my
pledge!
So to recap, I'm
spending March blogging
about Small Paws;
highlighting Small
Paws
pooches waiting for
adoption on PetFinder;
and (with everyone’s
help) sharing stories
and photos from Small
Paws members to showcase
why we all love and
support Small Paws
Rescue
(and sending $5 to
Small Paws for every
story/photo
I use).
Stories and/or photos
should be sent to
BeverlyVanZant@gmail.com. I will preserve the privacy of everyone
participating.
With your help, I’m
looking forward to
writing
a big check to Small
Paws at the end of
the
month.
All my best,
Bev>
You who know me, know that I would just about
rather have a root canal than to come to
you and keep asking for help.
If they could type,
you wouldn't keep hearing
from me, I promise.
But until then, they
only have me to come
and tell you their
needs, so that's why I
do what I do.
If you can help us,
we need you.
If you can't help us, please pray that there
is someone out there who can.
This is how you can
help us to help these
Bichons. We truly
need you.
I'll have my phone and will be checking e-mail
through the day.
We thank you in advance.
Thank you. All My
Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
