Gem of the Day: "I know the world is
filled with troubles and many injustices.
But reality is as beautiful as it is ugly.
I think it is just as important to sing about
beautiful mornings as it is to talk about
slums. I just couldn't write anything without
hope in it."

Subject: Stone Surgery
needed for Elvis
in
AZ
From: phelpsdd1@cox.net

"Elvis" is in pain and is urinating
blood. He needs surgery, now.
Elvis is our little Bichon-Maltese mix apprx
7 yrs of age. Foster Mom noticed a good amount
of blood in the urine and sure thing. Stone.
Surgery would be around $539.00. I have attached
the Quote. He is currently on antibiotics
and pain meds.. I just wanted to get this
to you with the heads up as soon as I could.
This is the estimate
which reflects a
discount
of $220.00.

One of our volunteers has passed away in
Florida.
I stayed one last
night in Florida, at the
home if George and
Dolores Lang when I was
down there looking
for Alligator Annie.
They were both so
very gracious to
me.
Please take a moment to click here to sign
the guest book for George Lang.
Dolores, our prayers
are with you at this
sad and difficult
time.

Now some sad news.
My husband, George,
passed
away yesterday --
quite unexpectedly.
I'm
still in shock. Please
say a prayer for
him.
Last night I was
afraid to go to sleep,
as
I had a pain in my
left breast area,
and
I felt I might not
wake up and what
would
happen to my two
beautiful little
girls.
My Red Hat ladies
here have been a
comfort
to me as have a couple
of my neighbors.
Because
of the holiday Monday,
the funeral will
probably
not be
before Wed. Thank
to all for prayers.
I am so devastated.
My two little "girls"
are just lost.
But, we have to be
strong. The funeral
had
to be rescheduled
as the Veteran's
Cemetery was completely
booked. The new details
are:
Monday, Feb. 28,
11:00 - 1:00 visitation
1:00 Priest coming
1:45 Leave for Veterans
Cemetery in Sarasota,
FL. we have to be
there
by 2:30 and it's
about a 25 minute
drive.
We have requested
that in lieu of flowers,
George wanted any
donations sent to
Small Paws Rescue.
Love,
Dolores Lang, Sophie
& Julie<
There are a couple
of times a year when
just
being able to operate
becomes difficult,
due to a lack of
funding.
Now is one of them.
After paying our
vet bills last Monday
evening,
we are below zero
by several thousand
dollars.
We have not been
able to raise what
we needed
to pay for the last
few surgeries, in
addition
to our regular vetting
which goes on daily.
It takes an average
of $1400-$1500 a day
to keep paying just
our vet bills.
This is what happens about 6 weeks after
the Holidays.
The Bichons in pain don't know that their
timing isn't working.

See Vet Bills Paid for the First 21 Days
of February, 2011
Totalling $30, 889.75
averaging $1,470.94
per day.
And now, another one of our foster dogs is
needing bladder stone removal surgery in
AZ.
I've asked them to put him on pain killers
and antibiotics until funds can be raised,
but Elvis is not only still in the building,
he is now waiting in line to be approved
for surgery.

It's a situation we can't keep authorizing
surgeries when we
don't have the funds
to
pay the bill.
Elvis isn't the only
one needing a surgery.
Guys, we need help to be able to keep taking
in Bichons with medical conditions.
We have to be able
to pay the vet bills
for
the dogs we already
have, first.
To do otherwise is
just not the responsible
thing to do.
If you can help, they need you.
I am here and will issue matching challenges
for Elvis and for all of those singing in
the choir behind him. All My Love, Robin
Our McDreamy after a shave and a haircut.
Thank you all so
much for this tremendous
save.
He will be a fabulous dog for someone.

Hi Robin,
Well besides dogs I have (had) two African
Greys (parrots.) I lost Lionel two nights
ago and we were just devastated. Unlike K-Bhr
(pronounced K Bear - named after the radio
station in Northern Exposure) he was the
sweetest, most gentle of souls and gave great
kisses. Can I ask you to put both Lionel
and K-Bhr on your pray list: one: to pray
for the soul of Lionel and two: To pray to
ease K-Bhr's pain (she is really deeply mourning)
and to help me find the right mate (he must
be docile and sweet to put "up with
her") to ease her into another relationship
when the time is right. K-Bhr was really
miserable and unhappy until she had her mate
- I don't think she is a personality that
can survive without a mate. Lionel, if you
are getting this I miss and love you.
Thank you Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
