Welcome! We hope
you enjoy reading
about
the Bichons and the
people who love them!
If you missed our last newsletter, here it is.
I try not to do too
much fundraising during
our online auctions,
as I know that many
of you are bidders
there!
Less than half of
the items have received
any bids yet, so
please, go and shop for
delightful Bichonly
and non-Bichonly items!
Many thanks to both
the bidders and the donors
who are helping with
this online auction!
As I said, I try not to fund raise too much
during the auction, but we have a situation
that we need address.
We have a little 2 year old, 11 pound male
here in Tulsa, who came from a shelter and
was about to be euthanized.

2 year old "Blitzer"
"Blitzer" loves everyone and everything!
"Blitzer" is mostly blind due to
juvenile cataracts.
He can see a little
light, but that is
fading
fast.
He is just darling
and is so very loving.
The problem is that juvenile cataracts are
a congenital condition that can lead to glaucoma
and other serious eye disease and they can
also become quite painful.
They are different than normal age related
cataracts.
We need to surgically
remove these cataracts
if this little guy
is to be adoptable and
free from pain.
Dr. Gwen, here in Tulsa, an eye specialist,
has started "Blitzer" on pre-surgery
eye drops and is giving us a huge discount,
IF we can raise the funds to do this surgery.
The quote we got
back in Dallas was
for $2500.00
PER eye.
Dr. Gwen will do
this for us for a
total
of $2700.00.
If we could get a foster home in the OKC
area where he needs
to have surgery, that
would be an even
added bonus.
I know this is a
lot to ask right
now, but
he is really just
a baby, and he doesn't
understand this at
all.
He only wants to
please. Whoever adopts him
will have a wonderful
family member.
Can you help us to
help little Blitzer?
We have these matching
challenges to start
with.
This first one is from MaLinda Cotten at
southerncotton1@gmail.com.
She made this after hearing about the little
one who was left in a vacant house in Nevada.
We have him now! Thank you MaLinda, for issuing
this challenge!
Robin,
Its MaLinda and Rotten Cotton here I have
several rental properties and it just makes
me feel terrible that landlords and neighbors
aren't stepping up and getting these animals
out of the house if they know no-one is there.
I never would leave one in a house that is
so cruel. I want to issue a challenge for
100.00 for anyone who feels the same way
in Rotten Cotten's name because I would never
want this to happen to her. God bless you.
MaLinda Rapier and Rotten Cotton>
Ok, that's the news. Help is needed. All
My Love, Robin
P.S. More from the recent CT. Bichon Bash
held in Derby CT.

"Daisy" and I at the CT. Bash,
at 7 Mos. old. (Daisy, not me.)

"Daisy" right after rescue when
she was known as "SPR Christmas Star."
(The artist formerly
known as "Star".
Ha)
"Daisy" was one of the 13 Bichons
we rescued around
Christmas time, from
the
Joplin MO. shelter,
where a neighbor
heard
gunshots and found
his neighbor, a puppy
miller, getting ready
to shoot his Bichons.
We took them from the shelter and Daisy is
one of them that you all saved!
Here is an update!

Hello Robin, so sorry
to hear of your problems
returning home from
CT. We are following
the horrible aftermath
of the tornados and
are
very aware this will
affect animal rescue
organizations around
the
country, including
SPR. Here are just
a few
pics from the CT
gathering. Thank
you for taking a
photo with
Daisy Star, I'll
put it
in her scrapbook!
I've sent along her "before" photo
just to
illustrate the dramatic
change and growth.
Today's puppy adventure
with Daisy was her
somehow opening my
Mom's
sewing kit and pulling
out
one of those old
tomato pin cushions
and
tearing it apart!
Wood dust
and shavings and
pins all over the
living
room, including the
furniture! She's
fine. I'm exhausted
from
the clean up.
I really enjoyed
the bash and hope
to attend
next year. I'm about
to
post the auction
to my facebook and
look
forward to bidding!
Keep up
the good work!

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
