Gem of the Day: "First comes thought; then organization of that thought, into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination."

~Napoleon Hill~

"Gus" before. Right after being rescued by Sara Pace from a Chicago Shelter

"Gus" after.
Taken just before he went home to his brand new adoptive family!

Charlotte was a stray that went unclaimed and we pulled her from the same shelter. Super matted but so happy to be free! The shelter estimated her at 3 but will have our vet check . She also needs "the works" and she is also is at Naperville Animal Hospital. She weighed 10 lbs.

Click here. You HAVE to see Charlotte's freedom ride and her doing the wave to Bon Jovi!

After we paid our bills last Monday night, Dave Hagadorn told me, "Our balance is -$2,156 not left over."

So we need to raise funds for everyone, listed at the bottom, EXCEPT little Cupcake, because her bill has been taken care of and she has been adopted by wonderful people who lost their 16 year old Bichon back in October! She will have a wonderful home with people who work from home and two other Bichons to play with! Yea! God Thing!!

Ok. We have raised about $1200.00 so far, in addition to Cupcake being taken are of, leaving us about $4000.00 still needing to be raised.

We have a matching donation challenge of $500.00 from Pat and Joan Borders at jpborders@aol.com. Thank you both so much!

Is there anyone who is blessed to be ale to match that very generous challenge?

Next, we have a $250.00 challenge form Sherry Keller! Thank you again Sherry!

Sherry Keller>

And from Dawn Bove, we have another challenge for $250.00! Thank you Dawn!! Again!

<Hi Robin & Louie: I would like to make another challenge of $250.00 for the newest little fluffs.
I wish it could be more, but I just had major shoulder surgery because I fractured my left shoulder tripping over our Buckley.
So funds are a little tight.
I hope we can raise all of the money needed.
Hope you both have a good day.
Sent with love,
Dawn <

And from the Sunshine State of Florida, Deborah Berger and her celebrity Bichon, Boris Berger, have this matching challenge for $100.00 in honor of one of our Board Members Birthday, Dr. Donna Brown! Thank you Deborah and Happy Birthday Donna!

In honor of Donna Brown's Birthday please issue a $100.00 challenge. Xoxo. Deborah and Boris.>

So those are our matching challenges!

Below are the reason we hope someone can match them!

All My Love, Robin

First from Sara Pace, one of our our Energizer Bunny Team Leaders, we got two more Bichons out from the worst shelter there is, near Chicago, on Monday.

Nikki is an owner surrender to a Chicago shelter. He is 4 years old. Needs the works! ($600-800.00) Is at Naperville Animal Hospital He weighed 14.4 lbs.

Charlotte was a stray that went unclaimed and we pulled her from the same shelter. Super matted but so happy to be free! The shelter estimated her at 3 but will have our vet check . She also needs "the works" and she is also is at NAH. She weighed 10 lbs.

Click here. You HAVE to see Charlotte's freedom ride and her doing the wave to Bon Jovi!

So those two alone will cost us about $1500.00.

Then here in Tulsa, a senior owner was going into a nursing home.

She had two Bichons, both ages 8 years and four months. Siblings.

Well, come to find out, they have several medical issues that are going to run another $1500.00.

They are at the Small Animal Clinic of Tulsa.

Bubba in Tulsa

Sugar in Tulsa

Dr. David Russell says: They are both 8 yrs old. Bubba is overweight, has small cataracts in both eyes and needs some dental extractions. Sugar is overweight, has mature cataracts, KCS in left eye with severe conjunctivitis, several small skin growths, large SQ mass (probable lipoma), and also requires some extractions. Attached are their pics. The dental evaluation, cleaning, x-rays, and lab work will be about $239.00 each. That does not include any extractions. I won’t know how many are needed until we start. That may add another $150-400. The 4 mass removals will add another 500-600 to Sugar's bill.

And then this morning, I got THIS lovely news from him.

"Bubba has an ALP ( liver values) of 1012. I would suggest an ultrasound by Dr. Hodges." (Dr. Hodges is the Internist)

The other one, Sugar, is high too. It’s only 500, but she has been on some steroid eye drops which could elevate it.
"

So, it appears we have rescued a pair of darling little train wrecks, but they are OUR train wrecks now, and we are going to do right by them.

Doing that is going to cost at least $1500.00-$2000.00 depending on how many extractions they have and on what they find on the Ultrasound.

Are you tired yet?

Then, this morning, here in Tulsa, OK., we got in another one.

UPDATE!! This ones surgery has been covered and she is adopted!!

This precious two year old female will have a huge bladder stone removed in the morning!

>When these folks applied to adopt, and we asked how their Bichon was killed by a car, this was their response. We hear this on an average of once a week.

(These are NOT Bichons adopted from Small Paws.)

PLEASE don't take a chance with the life of your Bichon!
We do not adopt to people who allow their dogs to run loose.

We had him for the last five years, He is very obedient normally when we say "stay" he will stop wherever he is, so some times we are used to play with him in the yard for he loves to run around the yard in circles, during that time we did not put him on the leash, this particular day he was not on leash and did not yield to the command when he saw some dog across the road. It took off so suddenly the on coming driver did not have time to stop the car. That is how it happened.>

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
