Gem of the Day: "Pain is such an uncomfortable feeling that even a tiny amount of it is enough to ruin every enjoyment."

~Will Rogers (1879-1935) ~

We have a 3 year old Bichon in Houston, TX. with a femur bone in his leg, broken in three places. Surgery is needed to save his leg.
THIS IS URGENT.

3 year old "Paddington" is in pain and needs surgery as soon as we can raise funds for him.

Please read Louie Bertolino's Memorial challenge for Paddington. He has had a personal loss.

We have this matching donation challenge from Louie Bertolino. You all know him as the one who takes your credit card donations over the phone for Small Paws. Louie, we are so very sorry to learn about Snuff's passing.

This picture of Louie and Snuffs was taken right before the emergency vet helped Snuff go to Heaven.

Hi Robin,

I want to make a memorial donation challenge in honor of one of my Bichons that passed away Monday night.

I had been caring for Snuffs for 6 months. Snuffs originally belonged to a good friend of mine, Audrey Farris (Newbedfordgirl70@yahoo.com)

Snuffs worked her way into my heart in a short time. She was a dynamic and sweet little girl.

She had only one eye, and that eye was almost completely covered in a cataract. She was deaf, had bad hips, and terrible allergies.

But her heart and spirit was that of a young puppy.

Snuffs suffered a first time 3 minute Grand Mall seizure at 1 am. Ivonne and I rushed her to the ER.

We sedated her and I held her in my arms until she started snoring, then sent her home to God.

My heart is empty and heavy now that she is gone.

She was 14 years old.

I want to donate $100 in memory of Snuffs, and in honor of Snuffs original owner, Audrey.

I hope this will help raise funds for Paddington's surgery.

We have an emergency situation for a little guy in Houston Texas, who came from a shelter. He was probably hit by a car.

Three year old "Paddington" is in pain and needs surgery as soon as we can raise funds for him.

This is a short video of his walking, holding up his broken leg.

If we can raise the funds for Paddington's surgery, it would be done by:

Dr. Laura Hinton, DVM, DACVS at the

North Houston Veterinary Specialists
1646 Spring Cypress Road Ste. 11
Spring, Texas 77388
phone: 1-281-675-6000

They are giving him strong pain meds in the mean time.

The estimate for this surgery is for between $2200.00 - $3040.00. This includes our 20% rescue discount.

To amputate his leg would cost almost as much as the surgery.

He's so young and will have a lifetime of being able to run and jump like a normal Bichon if we can repair this leg.

He will also be much easier to place in a forever home with all fours on the ground.

If some of us can help a little, we can do this.

I am here and will issue all additional matching donation challenges.

All My Love, Robin

Please send Emma prayers for a speedy crossing to the rainbow bridge! She lost the great fight and will join her sister Cassie who I lost in November. 2 dogs in 1 1/2 months is still too many. The worst is I am still in Canada and did not get to say goodbye and hold her.

>When these folks applied to adopt, and we asked how their Bichon was killed by a car, this was their response. We hear this on an average of once a week.

(These are NOT Bichons adopted from Small Paws.)

PLEASE don't take a chance with the life of your Bichon!
We do not adopt to people who allow their dogs to run loose.

We had him for the last five years, He is very obedient normally when we say "stay" he will stop wherever he is, so some times we are used to play with him in the yard for he loves to run around the yard in circles, during that time we did not put him on the leash, this particular day he was not on leash and did not yield to the command when he saw some dog across the road. It took off so suddenly the on coming driver did not have time to stop the car. That is how it happened.>

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
