We have these new matching donations for
little Magnolia's surgery which is scheduled
for tomorrow, to be done by Dr. Skip Tangner D.V.M., M.S.,

"Magnolia" is only five years old.
She could have many more years of giving
and receiving love, if we can get her well.
She has a suspected liver shunt as well as
a diseased kidney that may need to be removed.
We have these new matching challenges for
little Magnolia!
First, we have this matching challenge for
$500.00 from Dr. Integlia! Is there anyone
who is able to match this generous challenge
for Magnolia?

Lastly, have you or someone you know fostered
or adopted a dog that was rescued from a
hoarding situation?
If so, our friend, Dr. Frank, from Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, is asking for your help
for this study!
Some of you may remember participating in
his study about dogs who had lived in puppy
mills.

Hi Robin-
I hope all is well
with you. We have
finally
got the questionnaire
up and running for
the study we're doing
on formerly hoarded
dogs. As I think
I explained to you,
it is
the same type of
study that we did
on the
former puppy mill
breeding dogs. Below
is
the notice for seeking
participants for
the
study, so any help
you can offer in
disseminating
it would be most
appreciated:
STUDY OF HOARDED
DOGS
Best Friends Animal
Society and the University
of Pennsylvania School
of Veterinary Medicine
are conducting a
large scale study
of hoarded
dogs. The study looks
at the psychological
and behavioral characteristics
of dogs removed
from a hoarding situation,
which is a living
environment where
a person or persons
accumulate
animals in numbers
that exceed the person’s
abilities to provide
for the basic needs
of the animals, resulting
in animal suffering.
If you are currently
caring for a dog
that
was formerly living
in a hoarding situation,
we would greatly
appreciate your participation
in the study. Participation
is a simple matter
of filling out an
online questionnaire,
which
takes approximately
15 minutes. The strictest
confidence will be
maintained.
Here is the link
to the University of Pennsylvania
website where the
questionnaire is posted:
http://vetapps.vet.upenn.edu/cbarq/bestfriends. The pin number for the study is 9093. [Special
note: if after filling
out the questionnaire
you see a note such
as “1st evaluation completed,
there are 2 more,”
please ignore it. Once
you finish the questionnaire
you are done.]
If you have any questions
please feel free
to email Dr. Frank
McMillan at dr.frank@bestfriends.org.>
Ok, that's it for
now. We will let
you know
how little Magnolia
does! All My Love,
Robin

Hi, Robin, Will you
give the Small Paws Rescue Online E-Store a big announcement next letter, just asking
people to look to
see what is there. I have
lots of requests
to get things in for them,
then there are no
sales. So the new items inventory is great, beautiful and we need customers.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought
it was truly the epitome of what we do, and
why we do it. I wanted to use this black
and white picture of Humphrey, taken only
days before his death due to congestive heart
failure, to let those who may be new to Small
Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known
love. He would have died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
