If there is anyone who has either enough airline mileage for a round trip ticket, or if you have an extra airline ticket that you aren't going to use, please let me know.

I would like to be able to attend one of our largest Bichon Picnics in Derby CT., on May 21.

It's important for me to be able to meet new volunteers and adopters, in person, whenever I possibly can.

This is a Bash attended by many people in several states so if you can help, please let me know! Thank you in advance!

Next, I'll just warn you in advance.

Get a tissue.

We have lost one of our heart murmur babies.

It was number 59. Starbucks.

Starbucks was one of the few whose murmur was not surgically correctable. Texas A&M told us that he was the worst they had seen, at the time.

His Mama, Sindy Parsons in The Woodlands, Tx., has written a beautiful tribute to him.

I wanted to share it with all of you.

Sindy, we love you all. Thank you and your husband for taking this boy in as your own, knowing your heart would be broken and that he would be gone too soon.

I couldn't have done it. It isn't one of my gifts.

He had a wonderful home. He was blessed and so were we.

To everyone else, if you think this may be one of your gifts, to be able to take a special needs Bichon, please let us know. Someone out there needs you.

We need you.

TRIBUTE TO BUCK BOY PARSONS

Buck Boy came to us on Feb. 7, 2008 from Texas A&M as one very sick/weak almost 3 months old little boy.

The first picture is the day he arrived and laying on pillow in my office. A&M could not help him with his heart condition of severe pulmonic stenosis which basically is his right heart valve was enlarged had strictures which caused him to work hard to pump the blood through. We were told he could live between 1-2 years because his condition was severe and we were more than willing to take this sweet boy for however long/short we could have him. Along with our vet we worked with Buck and he grew into one handsome boy and was one of the sweetest spirits we have ever known. He so enjoyed life.

One of his pleasures was laying in the backyard watching the squirrels in the trees which is shown in the second/third/fourth picture. Probably his greatest joy was his walks early in the morning. He could walk up to mile/half in cool/cold weather but we had to cut back and slow down in the warm/hot/humid weather.

His three sisters Baylee, Starr, Gabby (SPR) were all best buddies with him. (last picture he is the big boy) He had a very gentle playful nature with the girls.

Our sweet gentle spirit, Buck Boy, died early Thursday morning, April 21, 2011 at almost 3.5 yrs old. His sick heart just stopped. We believe he had a gentle passing from this earthy world to a glorious place with our Heavenly Father totally whole in body. Buck Boy brought enormous joy into our lives and we have released to the Father.

Doug, Sindy, Baylee, Starr, Gabby

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
