Gem of the Day: "Courage doesn't always
roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day saying, I will try
again tomorrow."
~Mary Anne Radmacher~

Georgie is a little Bichon that we rescued
last week from a kill shelter in GA. Small
Pawser Sandy Hall Hall (Sandy@DyStarLP.com)
in South Carolina, has him at her vet, and
guess what?
He is heartworm positive. I don't even know how a mosquito could
get through all of those mats, but evidently,
one did. He also has a cough.
See below. Help is
needed for Georgie.
Georgie being "peeled" as Kathryn
Smith, our Team Leader to the Carolina's
calls it. He has GOT to feel better now.

"Georgie"
is heartworm positive.
Just to treat his
heartworms will cost around
$500.00. heartworm
disease is fatal without
treatment. This doesn't
include his normal
vetting and quarantine.

Thanks to all you girls who were involved
in the transport 4 years ago.

The girl you brought to me..
(Opal when she first came into rescue four
years ago, with a severe case of Cushing's Disease)

The girl she is today thanks to all of you.
Opal turned 16 today and her Cushing's is
well controlled.
She recently underwent
a mastectomy as she
had a lump under
her skin the size
of a pea.
So the surgeon sent
it out to pathology
and
it came back benign
but showed in one
section
cells trying to form
a malignancy. But
they
had taken out the
lymph gland associated
with that area and
it was all benign,
so
we got it all. My
vet who does this
surgery
all the time, wouldn't
touch Opal and said
she needed a board
certified surgeon
and
anesthesiologist
because of her Cushing's
so she had it indeed.
I can't thank you
all enough for getting
Opal to me, so I
could treat her Cushing's.
She has become a
"Miss Bossy
Boots".
But she is very well
loved and tonight
had
a sirloin steak,
mashed potatoes and
peas
for her dinner.
Her fur is so thick and she loves to dig
holes and roll in them, and this time of
year she is constantly taupe. LOL
And a very special
thanks to Sandy Souder
who rescued Opal
and became her foster
Mom
and also cared for
her so lovingly.
And thank you Robin
for creating Small
Paws
so this all could
happen as it should.

From: mari_coppell@msn.com
Robin,
I would like to make a $200.00 donation to
help our precious Small Paws family in memory
of one of our dear ones who left us on on
March 23rd. Kadee Weaver, precious little
soul mate of Joycelyn Weaver from Dallas,
developed an aggressive inoperable bone cancer
of her shoulder. Kadee was a "mill"
dog who lived live hard despite her short
9 years of life. She was the best friend
to my Small Pawser, Kallie and Basia who
now live in Arkansas, so i am also grieving
this sudden loss. Joycelyn is devastated
but could not have given that little Kadee
more love.

Attached is Joycelyn holding Kadee from the
Small Paws Picnic in October 2011. Godspeed,
Kadee Weaver.
Will you please put this in your newsletter
as many of the Small Paws family have met
Joycelyn and her Kadee over the last 3 picnics?
Thank you

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought
it was truly the epitome of what we do, and
why we do it. I wanted to use this black
and white picture of Humphrey, taken only
days before his death due to congestive heart
failure, to let those who may be new to Small
Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known
love. He would have died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
(All recipients of the Small Paws Rescue
newsletter receive it voluntarily. Small
Paws never gleans e-mail addresses from other
e-mail lists. Small Paws never solicits e-mail
