Bichons For Adoption By Nationwide Click Here

Tuesday Afternoon, May 21, 2013

Gem of the Day: "Oklahoman's spirits are as strong as the wind that comes sweeping down the plain."

They just rated the tornado as an EF-5. The most rare and worst of the worst.

Sara Pace and 2 year Old "Bruno".

Team Leader Sara Pace did not bring FIVE more home.
She brought EIGHT home this morning.
Counting Cooper, the hit by car Bichon, this makes NINE.
We are looking at needing between $6500-7000.00 for these rescues since Cooper will need surgery to repair his broken leg.

See a short video of some of today's rescues.

It is overwhelming. Help.

You also may have seen us on "Inside Edition" with Deborah Norville!

If you missed our previous newsletter, here it is.

Though we are NOT raising funds for the tornado, Small Paws Rescue has made a $250.00 donation to The Oklahoma Alliance for Animals, which is a very worthy organization, sending rescue help to the source in Moore, OK.

We are continuing to monitor for Bichons in trouble there.

In the mean time back at the ranch, our hero, Sara Pace, our Team Leader to IL., IN., IA., and MN., brought out EIGHT more home this morning, bringing the number to NINE in her area in the past two days PLUS two owner surrenders.

It will be an average of $600.00 each to vet these EIGHT shelter newbies which is $4800.00 and that doesn't include surgery for the one who has been hit by a car which will run about $2000.00.

The newest Bichons have been named after "Dancing With the Stars" contestants, judges and hosts.

Meet "Cooper" (Cooper was already named and he doesn't know how to Rumba so we let him keep his name.) who was hit by a car. His tarsal ligament on his lack leg is ruptured. He is only two years old.

Cooper is scheduled to see the orthopedic surgeon but even with a discount we are probably looking at around $2000.00 to save his leg.

Carrie Ann (One of the judges) is a sweetie! A bichon mix. She is estimated at 3 years old.

Zendaya (The youngest ever DWTS contestant at just 16 years old, She has a chance to win the Mirror Ball Trophy, tonight!) is 9 months old. She is a bichon-poo.

Chelsie (One of the dance teachers) is an adorable bichon, estimated at 2 years old. She just wanted to be held!

"Len the TEN" (One of the judges) is 3-4 years old and comes with a British accent..

Here is Jacobi (one of the dancers) . He definitely needs his jingle bells removed! He is a bichon and estimated at 4-5 years old.

This is Brooke (one of the hosts) and she is a sweet heart! She is around 9-10 years old but her eyes look great. She needs dental, vaccines, quarantine and spay. She loves to be held and will be a great lap dog.

Tommy (Tom is one of the hosts) is around 3-4 years old.

Hi Louie,

Please use my debit card for $25.00 for Cooper and the others being pulled from the Chicago shelter. I'd like to issue a donation challenge thinking of all the people and animals involved in the Moore, Oklahoma tornado.

It's a busy day here at Small Paws as you can imagine.

Your help is so much appreciated.

All My Love, Robin

Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain,
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet,
When the wind comes right behind the rain
Oklahoma, Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I,
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk
makin' lazy circles in the sky.

We know we belong to the land
And the land we belong to is grand!
And when we say
Yeeow! Aye-yip-aye-yo-ee-ay!
We're only sayin'
You're doin' fine, Oklahoma!
Oklahoma O.K.!

We had him for the last five years, He is very obedient normally when we say "stay" he will stop wherever he is, so some times we are used to play with him in the yard for he loves to run around the yard in circles, during that time we did not put him on the leash, this particular day he was not on leash and did not yield to the command when he saw some dog across the road. It took off so suddenly the on coming driver did not have time to stop the car. That is how it happened.>

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
