Gem of the Day: Louie Bertolino, (louieb@smallpawsrescue.org)
our Small Pawser who takes your credit card
donations, just lost his beloved "Snoopy"
this morning due to cancer of the tonsils.
This was the first time Louie ever had to
put a dog to sleep and he is hurting. I wanted
to let all of you know. Louie, we love you.
Godspeed little Snoopy.

As you know. we have taken on twelve more
Bichons and desperately need your help to
care for them and to pay for their vetting.
Nine of them are adults, three are newborns,
and now, since yesterday, there are TWO more
adults, bringing the number to 14 Bichons
we have rescued this week.
These are the two
newest Bichons to
join
our family.

8 Year old "Lanie" in AZ. Owner
Surrender
Can you tell us why this dogs needs to be
rehomed?: It's a combination of things all
at once.
1. We just had a
baby and money is incredibly
tight (this plays
into the next two)
2. About three years
ago, she had bladder
stones and had surgery
to remove them. Since,
she has had to be
on Royal Canine Urinary
SO. This is a very
expensive medicated food
that makes her drink
more water and urinate
more.
3. The new baby has
required a change in
our schedule so that,
when I go back to work
in two weeks, she
will have to go 9 to 10
hours without going
out.
4. We can't do a
doggy door due to
our location.
We live by a mountain
preserve and have
had
family nearby lose
a small dog in this
way
to a bird of prey.
It was a horrific
fate,
and I can't let her
be outside unattended.

7 Year old Buddy in Arizona
Can you tell us why this dogs needs to be
rehomed?: Owner on Dialysis
We have raised enough to vet only three of
the now 11 adults
who need vetting.
For 11 Adult Bichons to be vetted and quarantined,
it is going to be around $6500.00 and that
is with rescue discounts.
We are $4800.00 short of what we need and
we also need to be able to pull the little
female tomorrow from the Chicago shelter.
We need to have funds to vet the dogs we
already have before we can take any more
in.
We have this generous challenge for $1000.00
from Jeanne Montross in Florida, in memory
of her beloved Gabby. Is there anyone who
is blessed to be able to match Jeanne? If
so, that would put us $2000.00 nearer our
goal. Thank you Jeanne!

Hi Robin,
Cotton doesn't want any bichon out on the
street or without a home and friends and
family. She has so many friends and family
that she feels like a queen so she wants
to challenge all the other lucky bichons
to dig in their fur or ask their mommies
to donate a 100.00 and let's take care of
these babies so they can be as lucky as all
of us. Love Rotten Cotton and Malinda Rapier<
And LIVE from Manhattan
in NEW YORK CITY,
we have this challenge
for $100.00 from
Deb
Berger and her celebrity
Bichon, Boris. Thank
you Deb, again!

Paws Rescue
We had him for the last five years, He is
very obedient normally when we say "stay"
he will stop wherever he is, so some times
we are used to play with him in the yard
for he loves to run around the yard in circles,
during that time we did not put him on the
leash, this particular day he was not on
leash and did not yield to the command when
he saw some dog across the road. It took
off so suddenly the on coming driver did
not have time to stop the car. That is how
it happened.>
 Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought
it was truly the epitome of what we do, and
why we do it. I wanted to use this black
and white picture of Humphrey, taken only
days before his death due to congestive heart
failure, to let those who may be new to Small
Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known
love. He would have died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
