Gem of the Day: "Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point."
~ Harold V Melchert~

Thanks to all of you, Baby Samantha is doing great after surgery!
See surgery update below!

I have done it again.

See below. "Help me, Help me!", I cried,
all the while hoping that no one thinks I'm nuts.

Wait, it may be too late to worry about that, but I digress.

Welcome! We hope you enjoy reading about the Bichons and the people who love them!

If you missed our last newsletter, here it is.

Dr. Skip Tangner, called to tell me that the surgery is over and Samantha is doing just great!

He stacked two plates together to repair her broken hip.

He said she was a perfect candidate for this surgery and because we got her right in, he said we got it in time and he expects a full recovery for this precious little one.

AND he spayed her for us at no charge. What a guy.

Thanks to all of you who helped with her surgery.

She will be in ICU next door at the ER this weekend, being starred at. It's $134.00 more a night, buy this way if anything were to happen, they are right there. Skip would be up there in a heartbeat if they were to call him.

We are still about $2000.00 short of where we need to be to be able to operate and pay bills on Monday, but I'm just going to have to trust Him that the funds will be there when we need them.

You all have been so generous this week, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for that.

We have a couple of major surgeries that we need to authorize next week, but I will come and talk to you about those, then.

In the mean time, I have done it again.

Back at the end of December, we took in a family of Bichons, here in Tulsa.

These were the pets of a backyard breeder.

The city ordinances where she lived, said she was allowed to own only three dogs.

Someone had turned her in and she had been cited and had been given a certain amount of time to come into compliance with the ordinance or risk losing one of her dogs to the dog pound.

You see, she had four dogs. But she didn't want to surrender just one of her two Bichons to us, because they are a bonded pair.

And the little female gave birth to three babies right around Christmas time.

By the time she brought the Mom, the Dad, and the newborns to our Tulsa clinic, one of the babies had already died.

Now we had a Mom, a Dad, and three babies.

I was worried about those babies. They were tiny, it seemed to me and in order to get her to bring them in ASAP, I promised the lady that after the babies were raised, we would put the male and female together again as a bonded pair.

This was very important to her.

SEE THERE I TOLD YOU I HAVE GONE AND DONE IT AGAIN.

The babies are now 11 weeks old and are being adopted.

Both the male and female have since been neutered and spayed.

They have been separated now, for 10 weeks.

But I promised that owner we would keep them together and now, in order to keep my word, I need a foster home for them both.

They are three years old and have been together since they were babies.

He is still at our clinic and she is still in her maternity home, who can't take him in right now.

Is there anyone who can help me to keep my word here?

They were a pair. I know they have been separated for a while now, but I made a promise.

Help??

Online Foster and Volunteer Application

Or better yet, if you want to give them your last name, we will adopt them to you for $100.00 for the pair, as long as they stay together.

Ok, so that's the deal. We will fly them to you if you can foster them!

Have a wonderful weekend. You ALL deserve it! All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
