Gem of the Day: "Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain."
~ Author Unknown~

Click to hear the song. You know the one!

We are climbing up this mountain with our baby Samantha under our arms.
At the top, medical care and a surgeon await.

Samantha is under one year old, (the vet reports that she still has some of her deciduous puppy teeth) and weighs just under 11 pounds. She also has a broken hip. She needs surgery to repair it as soon as we can raise funds.

We have matching challenges for every budget ranging from $500.00 to $5.00.

I hope there is a someone who can meet each one of them.

Many thanks in advance to the challengers and to
those who are able to answer them!

See a short video of this darling baby girl. This was sent by vet techs the Roanoke TX. vet clinic who is caring for her now.

As you know our bank account was at -$4,757 as of this morning, after paying the following vet bills last Monday night.

See Vet Bills Paid For the first 7 days of March, Totalling $8126.60

The Veterinary Surgical Center in OKC, OK., and my hero, Dr. Skip Tangner, will do this surgery for us at a reduced rate of $2000.00.

We are trying to get our bank account up to where we can pay the vet bills we have so far AND pay for Samantha's surgery.

Samantha is being kept on pain meds until we can get her in for surgery, which I'm praying can take place on Friday.

This is a picture of her with "Malcolm" another dog they have at the Roanoke Animal Clinic, that looks like a black cocker spaniel mix, just to show you how small she is. This clinic, and their personnel, has been fabulous to Small Paws and to Samantha.

See another short video of this darling baby girl trying to walk.

We have the following matching donation challenges for you this evening!

Hi Robin,

I would like to issue a $50 challenge for little Samantha. She looks just like my Mom's little dog Buffy. My Mom lives in OK and found Buffy walking out on the road in the middle of nowhere all by herself. We think she may have been a puppy mill drop off. So in honor of Buffy (who may be related to Samantha, you never know:) I would like to issue this challenge.

Thank you, Andrea<

And from Madge Wilson, we have this challenge for $25.00. Thank you so very much, Madge!

This little darling looks so much like my little LolaLily who I let go on ahead 13 mos. and 7 days ago. I will issue a challenge of $5 per doggie. Right now that is what I can afford. And maybe that is the only amount some others can afford to. >

Samantha needs us. So many others do too. I pray each and every one of these challenges is able to be met!

All My Love, Robin

Prayer Reports and Requests

(Note from Robin: I need to apologize. I would never, ever leave someone's prayer request out of a newsletter on purpose. I lost one this prayer request and I think what happened is that my "smart"phone didn't "sync" with my laptop and it failed to put this prayer request in my "mailing news" folder.

I hope that each of you know that I would never, ever keep a prayer request from going out because the dog wasn't a Bichon.

Again, I apologize for missing this prayer request. Please pray for Teddy now, as he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He is a Pomeranian.

Melba, I am so sorry for this diagnosis. We are praying for you both.

From: "Melba DeMartini" <mdemartini@satx.rr.com>

Subject: Teddy

Robin: No need to bother yourself on Teddy's behalf. The biopsy came back as positive for prostate carcinoma. For over 7 years, I have contributed whatever I could to help Small Paws, even though I have never owned a Bichon. I guess prayers would be coming Teddy's way if he was a Bichon. I'm sorry, but this seems to me to be the way it is. Melba

mdemartini@satx.rr.com writes:
Dear Robin: Do you remember me? Melba DeMartini, the lady that
asked you to rescue my Teddy's mama from that horrible Missouri puppy
mill. Because of you, Teddy and I had 5 wonderful years with
Peaches. We lost her year before last with lymphoma, and, now,
Teddy's life is in danger. Vet did ultrasound because of elevated
liver enzymes, and found suspicious mass and mineralizations in his
prostate. He had fine needle biopsy yesterday and we are waiting for
results today. Oh God, please let it not be cancer, for cancer of
the prostate in dogs is very aggressive Vet said. Teddy is 12 years
old and has been (along with Peaches) the absolute light and joy of
my life. Don't know how I will be able to bear losing him also.
Could you ask the prayer warriors to say a prayer for my baby? Keep
up the wonderful work that you do. We all love you for it. Melba>

Lyrics to "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"

If you need me, call me. No matter where you are, no matter how far. Just call my name. I'll be there in a hurry. On that you can depend and never worry.
You see, my love is alive It's like a seed that only needs the thought of you to grow. So if you feel the need for company, please, my darling, let it be me. I may not be able to express the depth of the love I feel for you, but a writer put it very nicely when he was away from the one he loved. He said down and wrote these words:

No wind, (No wind) no rain, (no rain)
Nor winter's cold
Can stop me, babe (oh, babe) baby (baby)
If you're my goal

No wind, no rain,
Can stop me, babe
If you wanna go

I know, I know you must follow the sun
Wherever it leads
But remember
If you should fall short of your desires
Remember life holds for you one guarantee
You'll always have me

And if you should miss my love
One of these old days
If you should ever miss the arms
That used to hold you so close, or the lips
That used to touch you so tenderly
Just remember what I told you
The day I set you free

Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough (Say it again)
Ain't no river wild enough
To keep me from you

Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough (Say it again)
Ain't no river wild enough
To keep me from you

Ain't no mountain high enough
Nothing can keep me
To keep me from you

Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough (One more time)
Ain't no river wild enough (Say it again)
To keep me from you

Ain't no mountain high enough
Nothing can keep me
To keep me from you.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
