Gem of the Day: "The man who removes
a
mountain begins by
carrying away small
stones."
~William Faulkner~
We have a medical emergency on top of the
mountain.
If you've ever wanted to help a Bichon, please
read this newsletter.
It is of the most
urgent nature.
This precious little girl was found hit by
a car, alive and lying
on a busy four lane
major highway near Dallas.
Samantha is under one year old, weighs 11
pounds, and has a broken hip. She needs surgery
to repair it as soon as we can raise funds.
Please read.
This is urgent.
See a short video
of this darling baby girl.
This was sent by
vet techs the Roanoke TX.
vet clinic who is
caring for her now.

Welcome! We hope

the Bichons and the
people who love them!
If you missed our last newsletter, here it
is.
This is a very serious situation.
It's all I can do
really, to come and
tell
you about this without
crying, myself.
After doing this work for nearly 13 years
now, I hope I have come to be able to know
what you all want us to do. You have told
us over and over. Thousands of you from every
walk of life.
Yesterday, we made a decision to pull a little
female who had been hit by a car, from the
Irving Animal Shelter in Irving, TX.
You know that I never come to ask you for
help for a particular dog until we actually
have that dog in our custody, we have a diagnosis,
and a treatment plan and estimate.
Well, we have all
of that.
We also have a deficit in our bank account,
after paying over $8000.00 in vet bills on
Monday night.
I got this from Dave
Hagadorn, this morning.
Subject: money #

-$4,757 as of this morning.
David Hagadorn<
We were able to get back up to about $4000.00
in our account before we paid these bills
totalling $8126.60. We are waiting to be
able to mail some of these checks until funds
come in.

See Vet Bills Paid For the first 7 days of
March, Totalling $8126.60
We have put all vetting on hold that isn't
absolutely essential.
We have put all spays/neuters and dentals
on hold while dogs are in quarantine from
being in a shelter, hoping by the end of
their quarantine time, we. will have been
able to raise funds for them.
Right now, we have this little girl needing
surgery and our discounted rate with the
Veterinary Surgical Center in OKC, OK., with
Dr. Skip Tangner, is for $2000.00.
But before we can
do that surgery we have
to be able to reimburse
our volunteers for
vet bills that they
paid, and to pay our
previous vet bills.
Samantha is being kept on pain meds until
we can get her in for surgery.
I'm hoping we can raise enough to bring us
back up to a point where we can operate and
also pay for her surgery, which I'm praying
can take place on Friday.
This is a picture of her with another dog
at the vet clinic that looks like a black
cocker spaniel, just to show you how small
she is.
See another short video of this darling baby
girl trying to walk.
Samantha doesn't understand about vet bills
being so very high
all across the country.

She survived this MAJOR four lane highway
near Loop 12 and 183.
That in itself is
a miracle.
She doesn't understand why she was crossing
a highway in TX and was hit by a car.
She doesn't understand
that she needs surgery.
She only knows that
she hurts.

Maybe we shouldn't have pulled her with our account being so low.
But if we hadn't,
she would have assumed
room temperature.
I tried to see if
there was any other group
who would or could
take her and there was
not.
We were it.
I felt you all would want us to get her out,
and just to come and tell you what is going
on and why.
I am here staring
at this computer screen
and praying.
I will issue all
matching challenges.
You can probably tell I'm stressed about
this. This is a mountain, folks.
If you can't help, please pray that those
who can will feel led to do so.
Is there anyone who will take that first
step to the top of this mountain with me?
With Samantha and me? I am ready to try for
this precious baby girl.
All My Love, Robin

Hi Robin,
I was glad to hear that your Chipper is doing
better. My Hope is better too. turns out
she didn't have a bladder stone after all.
She just peed in my bed cause I took her
ball away from her for the night. She can
be very stubborn when it comes to that ball
!!! thanks for answering my email so quickly.
I will keep you and all the bichons in my
prayers.

Dear Robin:
They have scheduled me to see the Dr. on
Monday. I guess I will find out when they
do the surgery. You may share it since ALL
prayers are greatly appreciated.
There is so much
going on with us. Pat is
also having a procedure
on his esophagus
Monday for his reflux.
My brother and his
wife will stay with Mom
and make sure things
are going OK with her
real leg and her
prosthetic leg.
I have many friends in Los Angeles who are
like family, and will help out if needed.
Bichon hugs and thank
you,
Sue>

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
