Gem of the Day: "Perseverance, secret of all triumphs."

~Victor Hugo (1802-1885)~

Many thanks to everyone who prayed for our Chipper who was in "extremely critical" condition in ICU, intubated, just one week ago from double pneumonia.

This is a short video that I took of Chipper last night. He's baaackk!

Prayer Requests and Reports

Subject: update on an adopted fluff from last year, prayers needed
Date: 3/8/2013 8:15:58 A.M. Central Standard Time
From: lisaallie@gmail.com

Hi Robin,

I have met you a few times at the Bichon Bash in Valparaiso, IN ( I am the volunteer who has the Westie who wants to be a Bichon!). Last summer, I took a fluff named Delaney to foster who was rescued by Sara Pace. She is three years old and one of the sweetest fluffs I have had. She ended up getting adopted by friends of ours who fell in love with her at one of our parties. They already had a 10 year old Bichon and thought she needed a sister. This dog has been pampered and is in every picture that I have seen of Les and Nancy. She is treated, like her sister, as their precious child.

Delaney (who is now Aly) has been with Nancy and Les for about seven months. Last week, Aly became very ill. She was rushed to the vet who diagnosed her with an infection. Her health became better and then a few days ago turned worse. They took Aly to another vet who felt based on her labs may have lymphoma. They performed surgery to biopsy her intestine and liver. Aly has not recovered well, and she needs many prayers to survive.

They are waiting for the blood tests to definitively diagnose what is making her ill. But at this point, she needs to survive the recovery. I texted Sara last night and am keeping her informed. Even though it has been months since I fostered Aly, my heart is breaking, she is much too young to be so ill. Les and Nancy have spent whatever cost to help Aly recover. It is now a waiting game.

Your thoughts and prayers can only help her now.

Lisa>

And Diane Piskur's (enaid713@yahoo.com) precious Bichon Lily is very ill. They have requested prayers. She had lung cancer and had one lung removed, but it has metastasized. Please pray for them. Lily is their baby.

(Always remember. God loves you more than anyone else ever has,
and more than anyone else ever will!)

>When these folks applied to adopt, and we asked how their Bichon was killed by a car, this was their response. We hear this on an average of once a week.

(These are NOT Bichons adopted from Small Paws.)

PLEASE don't take a chance with the life of your Bichon!
We do not adopt to people who allow their dogs to run loose.

We had him for the last five years, He is very obedient normally when we say "stay" he will stop wherever he is, so some times we are used to play with him in the yard for he loves to run around the yard in circles, during that time we did not put him on the leash, this particular day he was not on leash and did not yield to the command when he saw some dog across the road. It took off so suddenly the on coming driver did not have time to stop the car. That is how it happened.>

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
