Guys, I'm pretty sick and typing this from
the bed where I've been since Friday.
My husband, Dale,
is going to go over this
to make sure it makes
sense before he sends
it out for me.
I didn't think I would even have to tell
you about this as I thought I just had a
cold and would be over it in a few days.
Chest x-rays show what started as a sinus
infection has moved down and now I have infected
bronchial tubes. When I start coughing,
it's hard to get a breath. On strong antibiotics.
If I'm not better soon the doctor said I
would have to go into the hospital.
So I am home in the bed, taking my meds,
and trying to stay OUT of hospital as there
are sick people in there.
We have a situation here. If ever we needed
you it is now.
We unexpectedly just got five puppy mill
Bichons in Ohio.
I couldn't come to you and raise funds for
them before we got them as there was just
no time. Linda Fausey, our Ohio Co-Team Leader
said we had to move fast to save these five.
Dave Hagadorn says
we are below zero in our
bank account after
paying over $10,000.00
for just one weeks
worth of vet bills.

Last Monday night we paid vet bills totalling
$10,840.48 for
the SPR rescued Bichons
across the country.
We've paid vet bills for the first half of
February
of 2010 totalling $19,164.65, averaging $1279.64
a day.
So this couldn't have come at a worse time
for us, or a better time for these Ohio 5.
Here are their pictures.

This is the estimate for their basic vet
care, not counting any unexpected medical
issues and they seem to always have those
when they come from a commercial kennel.
Below is a break
down for each dog and a
total.
They are presently at the
Animal Hospital, Inc.,
2735 S.O.N. Center
Rd.,
Willoughby, OH, 44094.
440-946-2800.
The vet total includes all shots/tests/dental/spay/neuter/exam
- but not
anything additional that may require extra
care. Kenneling is for 16
days of quarantine.
Peter - $504 + quarantine
kennel $137.60
Flopsy - $473 + quarantine kennel $137.60
Mopsy - $473 + quarantine kennel $137.60
Topsy - $473 + quarantine kennel $137.60
Cottontail - $473
+quarantine kennel $137.60
Total - $2396 + $688
= $3084.00.
Sue Hodges asked me to send this matching
challenge out with the next rescue need that
we have, so I guess that is now. Help? Is
there anyone our there who is able to match
Sue's challenge?

Bonnie Ferguson is checking my e-mail for
emergencies only, until I can sit up for
more than 15 minutes at a time without coughing
up a lung, and no I am not kidding.
This is how you can help.
I'm also asking for your prayers. I'm just
not a good sick person and did I mention
I can't even TALK? Dale says that should
tell you something. Love, Robin

P.S. Beau in San Antonio, TX with our Team

Robin and Bonnie,
We have one little guy here, Mick, (5 years
old) he was Niko November when we adopted
him from Small Paws. He has both our vets
baffled. Started out vomiting and runs and
lethargic. Had his anal glands expressed
and he had a slight ear infection. He was
put on antibiotics seemed better then went
back again to the same thing. Had blood tests
done and 100% perfect. Then ran a test just
for the pancreas and was 100%. Re did all
the other blood test again and then again
100% perfect. Then a trip to Ohio State Vet
ER and he was given fluids and a nausea shot
and special dog food. I have also been cooking
chicken or turkey and rice for him too. He's
not eating too much. He is back on antibiotics
and last Sat added steroids 1 a day for 3
days and then one every other day. Tomorrow
we are going back to Ohio State Vet ER for
an ultrasound to check for anything else
that might be going on. It's something that
is driving everyone here crazy. So, I am
asking for prayers that the ultrasound tells
us what is up. I hope it shows nothing but
then again back to square one if it does.
I am just beside myself here with worry over
him. We need the prayer warriors to be praying
hard for our darling Mick. He has come so
far after his 1st five months in the cage
in the puppy mill.

Will God let us have our beloved pet's in
heaven?
For those broken of heart:
"It came to
me that every time
I lose
a dog they take a
piece of my heart
with
them. And every new
dog who comes into
my
life gifts me with
a piece of their
heart.
If I live long enough,
all the components
of my heart will
be dog, and I will
become
as generous and loving
as they are."

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey",
I thought it was
truly the epitome
of what we do, and
why
we do it. I wanted
to use this black
and
white picture of
Humphrey, taken only
days
before his death
due to congestive
heart
failure, to let those
who may be new to
Small
Paws, know what we
do and why we do
it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey
would have never
known
love. He would have
died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because
of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived,
he loved, and he
smiled.
