Gem of the Day: "Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love."
~Rainer Maria Rilke~

8 year old Beau has a perineal hernia. This is very painful and he needs surgery.
The surgery will cost $850.00 and that isn't counting the other medical issue we are dealing with for this little guy.
Perineal Hernia Complete WITH Drawings
"A perineal hernia is a condition that occurs in both dogs and cats in which there is an abnormal displacement of pelvic and/or abdominal organs (small intestine, rectum, prostate, bladder, or fat) into the region around the anus called the perineum."

"I will stop trying to find the few remaining clean pieces of carpet in the house when I am about to throw up."
~ The Dog~

Hi Robin: I took one look at Beau and my heart melted. After the few weeks I've had with my crew of dogs from vomiting and severe diarrhea and of course not knowing who did what and every choice was one out of four, thankfully, the cat had it's own distinct smell. Anyway, please put out another $100.00 challenge. My carpeting is DONE. I chuckled at your Two Broads and a Leash because I've been thinking of a name for a cleaning company and came up with "Two Bitches and a Broom". Thank goodness for the Bissell carpet cleaner. Folks it"s a lifesaver.

Cordially, Deborah and Boris>

And from Pattie Thames, we have this challenge! Thank you Pattie!

Hi, Robin: I will issue a matching challenge of $50 for Beau. He is so cute. I look forward to be a foster mom for you. I am getting in 2 Bichon girls next week from a puppymill. The Amish man always calls me when he wants to get rid of dogs. So I am a little full at the moment.

My poor Dudley had this surgery and he did well with the surgery but suffered from many infections after the surgery as they just didn't take out the hernia they had to resection something in his anal area but he still lived to almost 18

I'm going to donate $10 in memory of my Dudley if anyone wants to match me

And from the Villages in Florida (Robin sings the commercial because she can't help it. It's stuck in there now. "The Villagessss, Florida's Friendliest Hometownnnnn') we have this challenge from Lynne! Thank you Lynne!

Robin,

Please issue a $50 matching challenge on behalf of my dog Annie and I for Beau; he deserves to have surgery and be pain free so he can find a forever home. It sounds as if his owner did not take very good care of him and hopefully Small Paws can come to his rescue.

Thanks, Lynne McGibney

This is how to help, if you can. If you can't help, can you please pray that there is someone else to help? We couldn't do this work without the aid of the MMPWSPR!
(Mighty, mighty prayer warriors of Small Paws Rescue!)

Last Monday night we paid vet bills totalling $3,763.33 for the SPR rescued Bichons across the country.

We just paid $30, 441.31 in vet bills in January.

And we have this news about victories in West Hollywood regarding sales from pet shops! Thanks, Roz Person, for sending!

More Breaking News - Huge West Hollywood Victory For Dogs and Cats
This week, the West Hollywood, California City Council voted to ban the sale of dogs and cats acquired from puppy/kitten mills. The ordinance passed unanimously, and now pet stores in the city will only be able to display dogs and cats from shelters. Click here to see the CBS story, and click here to see the NBC story.
IDA's Bill Dyer spoke eloquently in favor of the ordinance, reminding that West Hollywood was the second city to adopt the IDA-recommended "guardian" language instead of "owner," and also noting that West Hollywood bans de-clawing of cats: "This unprecedented, historic action, in this Guardian city where the de-clawing of cats is also banned, will send a signal throughout our country for others to follow. West Hollywood will always be remembered as the city that had the foresight and compassion to first end the horrible commerce of puppy mills in our society."

Man, You guys are AMAZING!! (with a little help from you know who! )-

no blockage, no plaque, says heart is fine, just 'slow'; my pb is 120/45 - that's pretty 'lazy' too! my 'good' cholesterol is 85 - guess I'm just 'slow' all the way around!

Had a 'lazy eye' as a child, wonder if I just have a 'lazy' heart!

But I really know what happened - it was all the MMPWSPR's that responded!
both the Ultra sound and the Cardio-lite that they did indicated 'something' going on; that's why they went with the Angiography; just hope they don't decide the machine was malfunctioning and they want to do it all over again! NOT!

Love you and THANK you!
KinNC

Will God let us have our beloved pet's in heaven?

For those broken of heart:
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
