Please read this personal message from Robin about our online auction and why we are starting late and ending early.

The 2018 Small Paws Rescue
Holiday Online Auction Is Coming!! Donated Items Are Needed Now In Order for Donors to Get Them Mailed To The Winners In Time!

First of all, please read the link above about our Holiday Auction, and our Webmistress's husband, Steve Ferraro having bladder cancer.

Jody said we have 75 items up but she would feel better if the umber was double. We are scheduled to start on this Sunday.

Please show your support for the Bichons and for Steve and Jody Ferraro by clicking on the "Donate Items" button to contribute items to our auction.

We have three matching challenges for what I'm about to tell you if you don't out right faint first. If I had time, that might be my choice right now if I owned a fainting couch. Get out the smelling salts from Gone With The Wind.

After I show you the needs, I'll show you the matching challenges.

Could I make up a face like that?? "Snowball" is in South Texas and he is bleeding. His surgery will be around $1000.00.

It seems that the sky falls in one fell swoop sometimes. It's been a while since this much is happening all at once.

All I can do is relay it to you one step at a time and breathe.

Ok. Here goes.

We took in an 8 year old Bichon from a kill shelter in South Texas, at the end of last week.

His owners brought him to be euthanized, saying he had a prolapsed rectum. The shelter couldn't bring themselves to do this as he didn't have anything that they could see, so they called us. After he got to the vet he began bleeding from the rectum. But it's not a prolapsed rectum. It's a polyp.

The shelter took "Snowball" to the The WellPet Center Veterinary Hospital for us. They are located at:
5910 FM 1463
Katy, TX 77494

We have this letter from Dr. Ping. I just love him. He knows what rescue means and tries to help us in every way possible.
This is the news.

To Small Paws Rescue Group,

Snowball, a neutered male Bichon Frise with a great disposition presented to the WellPet Center for assessment. Snowball has a small polyp near his anus which needs to be removed along with a dental cleaning. This work will need to be done prior to his being fostered or adopted. The cost of this procedure could cost upwards of $1000.

I've attached an estimate for you and a picture of Snowball.

So we have Snowball needing $1000.00.

But wait. There's MORE.

In Plainfield IL, we have another situation going on.

"Boots" is ten years old. He had inverted infected eye lid issues so we sent him to the eye specialist, yesterday. The news is expensive. His eyes are going to be ok with drops, but he has a fistula deep in his mouth that is causing infection to drain up into his eyes.

These are the three pages of an estimate coming to $1005.22 for a specialist to do this oral surgery on Boot's. This is painful for Boots and we have to fix it. We just have too.

So we have Snowball and Boots both needing $1000.00 surgeries.

The good news is this. We have three matching challenges that hopefully will help all of these little furballs in need.

First, from Dawn Bove at d.bove@fcpmllc.com, we have this generous challenge for $500.00. Is there anyone who has been blessed enough to match Dawn? Thank you Dawn, again.

"Hello Robin: Well Karla is right. White fluffs falling everywhere. I will make a challenge in the amount of $500.00 and hope someone will match me soon.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. So this will be way of giving thanks for all the wonderful little fluffs in my life. They give so much love. I will pray these little kids will soon be in loving forever homes.
As always sent with love. Dawn"

And from Deborah Berger and her celebrity Bichon, Boris Berger in Florida, at normetski@aol.com, we have a matching challenge for $100.00. Is there anyone who can match Deborah and Boris? Thank you Deborah and Boris.

"Robin, Please issue a $100 challenge from me and the Big B. Deborah"

And from Judy DeAngelis at jadeangelis@cox.net, we have this challenge for $100.00. Thank you Judy.

"Poor Baby. She deserves some love. Please issue a matching challenge of $100.00.

Thanks, Judy DeAngelis"

We have been taking in Bichons left and right in South Texas and Chicago. Florida has been busy as well. We got an owner surrender in today from CT that we are seeing has some sort of back issue and he's a 9 month old!

The auction is on my mind and on the minds of Jody and Steve.

We try to bring in $15,000 with each of two auctions, each year.

That's a large bit of funding that we can't afford to lose.

See Vet Bills Paid by Small Paws Rescue for the first 13 days of November, 2018 coming to $9872.98 which is an average of $759.13 per day.

If I stop to think about what the vet bills for these Bichons are running every day, 365 days a year, I start to need warms ocean waves and a cabana boy to write the newsletters.

I know it's alot to ask to try to get items listed in such a short time but we need you.

I know it's a lot to ask for help with vet bills.

Since they haven't learned to type yet, not a one of them, here I be.

In your living rooms, offices and staring at you on your mobile device.

I'm doing it because they can't.

They need your help.

I'm here. I'm not going anywhere until we have funds to care for these Bichons. Help is needed. All My Love, Robin

From Sara Rhodes at pacess4@att.net

Hi Robin,

<I am sending this info ASAP! This little girl was surrendered in this condition. All I know is the owner passed away and she was surrenders. She is 9 years old. Her name is currently Cheese Puff but I feel if we take her, she deserves a beautiful name. CACC shelter is overcrowded. Can we take her? Please?

In all my years doing rescue, this is one of the worst matted fluffs I have seen. Sara>

We need to raise funds for this girl. She is nine and as you can see has had nothing done for her. Her teeth are atrocious and many will need to come out. She has dry skin from no air being able to get to her skin. She is very uncomfortable.

The estimate for her vetting is going to be around $1200-1500.00 due to her neglected condition.

And Sara has three more new Bichons, as well in her Team.

But that's not all.

We have this from Karla Karter, our South Texas Team Leader.

White fluffies are falling from the sky in South Texas!! If you are able to help foster or transport, PLEASE contact me!! We really need FOSTER homes. Without fosters, we can't save the lives of countless Bichons in South Texas!!

How to Become a Much Needed Small Paws Rescue Foster Parent!

We have saved 20 dogs in the last few of weeks. Here are the latest ones from the last couple of weeks!

Chelsea is a 7 yr old, 14 lb female in Houston. She will be ready for a foster home next week, She was spayed and they found a mammary tumor. The pathology reports showed it was benign! Thank you Dear Lord!!

Clarisse is a 2 yr old, 16 lb female in Austin. She needs out of boarding!! If you can foster Clarisse, please let us know!! She deserves to run and frolic as she prepares for her forever home! She is house trained and a very sweet girl.

Cozy is a 2 yr old male in Houston. He is recovering from upper respiratory and cough, the Vet says he is clear to go to foster. (another need!!)

Tosca is a 1 yr old 11 lb female in Austin. Super friendly and gets along with pups and all people. This little girl needs a foster home as well.

Snowball was owner surrendered to the shelter to be euthanized. The staff there couldn't bare to follow through with this request. They called SPR to help save Snowball. He is an 8 yr old male, approximately 16 lbs. The staff at the shelter even transported him to our Vet!! Now that's dedication!! Snowball was bleeding from his rectum, the Vet found a medium sized polyp/mass on his colon. This could be a surgery that could cost about $2,000 at the Specialty Hospital. Dr, Ping, our wonderful Vet, is going to perform the procedure and send the mass off to the lab to be analyzed for $800.00. Please pray for BENIGN report and complete healing of this sweet boy! Many people have seen value in this little guy and we pray for a great outcome and a LOVING forever home!!

Andre is our 5 yr old, 5.8 lb little male, He was picked up Saturday. He has pretty bad dental disease and needs to be neutered. One of the happiest little guys I've seen in a while! He slept in the car and must have known he was safe with SPR.

AND, we are scheduled to pick up another 2 yr old female in the morning!!

As you can see, we have been busy in South Texas! Freezing temperatures are heading our direction this week. We pray for the pups outside in the freezing rain, and pray a good Samaritan will pick them up and give them shelter!

God bless all of you!!

We need to raise around $12,000.00 for Sophia Rose and the 20 other Bichons that have been rescued recently in South Texas. We are currently in the red and need help. You know that I don't ask for help unless we need it.

I hope someone is able to help these poor dogs.

I am here and will issue all matching challenges.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
