This is going to have to be written quickly. No time for spell check.

I'm trying to get checked out of the hotel in Irving, Tx. and back to Tulsa before 5, (I have an appointment in Tulsa) and that is going to be cutting it close.

The Irving City Counsel meeting was packed with rescuers last night and there were unbelievable revelations that took place right there in front of God and everybody, but I'll have to tell you about that later on this weekend. ALL FOUR network affiliate local news stations were there, (local news for CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX) as well as a reporter and photographer from the Dallas Morning News. One of the news stations brodcasted the piece live from the parking lot. We couldn't have gotten more press if we had hair-lipped the Governor. I got back to my room well after midnight last night.

Ok. This morning I am in a panic to get this message out to you, our Small Paws members. I know you want me to tell you about these things, even though we seem to have a new emergency with each new sunrise.

I'm just going to blurt it out. There is just no other way to tell you.

We have our 42nd Heart Murmur baby, and he is being fostered near Columbus, Ohio. We have got to get him flown down to Houston, Tx., so he can be driven over to Texas A&M, where the heart dogtors of the world reside.

If any of you can either fly to pick him up, and deliver him down to Houston, or if you can arrange for an airline ticket so that someone else can fly him down, please let Lynda DeHart know immediately at BA DEHART@aol.com

I have no idea how to even ask you to help to pay for his surgery. It will run right at $2700.00. I just have no idea what to say to ask for your help, and I think I am typing on auto-pilot.

I only know his eyes are not looking good and I'm afraid he is going to try to croak on us before we can even get him flown down there, much less before we can raise funds for his surgery.

This is what inhabits my mind in the sleeping hours. HOW CAN I EVEN ASK THEM TO HELP WITH ONE MORE HEART MURMUR SURGERY WHEN WE HAVE HAD THREE IN THE PAST FOUR WEEKS?

We have done this life saving surgery 41 times before.

Columbo is 14 weeks old. I recognize this look in his eyes and I have to tell you, we have GOT to move on this boy and get him flown down there soon. He is not acting sick. Neither was Baby Buttercup and when we got her there we found out she was MORE than an emergency.

I've seen this look in their eyes before. After 42 of them, you learn what to look for. We need to get him there soon.

"It was a dark and stormy night. Columbo had the night watch in the Texas A&M Heart Hospital. A dame. A dame would be the one to fix his broken heart. It's always a dame."

Then as if that wasn't enough, we have this update on baby Elmo, who is THERE now at Texas A&M. We have started his treatments, and we can't go back now.

This is going to run about $4000.00 before all is said and done, in order to save his life. They are doing this surgery on him this morning, to make the opening wider, so that he can eat solid food.

I've always said that you can always make more money, but you can never make more life.

To: Pup3@aol.com, Fuzzalot@aol.com

Dr. Fabrack at Texas A&M attempted to balloon Elmo's esophagus this morning, but she discovered that the stricture is too tight to be ballooned. Instead, they're going to have to make two small incisions in Elmo's esophagus tomorrow and then attempt the balloon procedure again Monday morning. The doctor said she anticipates that it will be necessary to do the procedure only twice after the incisions are made.

According to their estimates of the charges, today's surgery was $1,200 and the three subsequent procedures should cost $600 each. As I mentioned before, these charges are in addition to the fees for the testing earlier this week.

I will issue all matching donation challenges that come in. You may not hear from me until in the morning. There aren't enough hours in the day for me to get everything out to you, lately it seems!

I haven't had one chance to look at e-mail yet. If anyone has an emergency, please call me on Small Paws One at 918-638-5854.

I have a five and a half hour drive ahead of me and I have got to get on the road.

Can you help to save Columbo and Elmo? Marilyn Brewster will foster both in Ft. Worth, if we can get Columbo down there, so that he can come home at the same tine as Elmo does. We need to move fast.

From a Photo

To a cross stitch!

Do you or someone you know like to cross stitch? If so, this item might
be just the thing for you. Have your favorite photos converted into a
pattern that you can cross stitch. It can be a picture of your dog,
cat, child or anything you have a picture of that you would like to
cross stitch. You can support Small Paws Rescue and have fun at the
same time. 100% of the proceeds will go to SPR.
This would make a great gift for someone you know that likes to cross
stitch. You can buy the pattern or the pattern and the floss and give
it to them as a gift, or you can stitch it yourself first then give it
as a gift. When you are done, it can be framed or made into a pillow.
You will get a computer generated cross stitch pattern (not a kit). All
patterns are printed out for 18 count, but can be done in any size you
wish. The design is coded for DMC floss and will come on several
sheets of paper. All patterns are done in whole cross stitches.
Included with the pattern is an easy to read symbol key guide and a
color picture of your item. The pattern is printed in black and white
on a laser printer.
Daisy and Willy and their Mom Sally have given me permission to use
their picture as a sample. Above is the digital picture of them and
then how it will look after it is stitched. This pattern uses 68
colors and the finished size using 18 count canvas is 8 inches tall by
12 inches wide.
Remember 100% of the sale will go to Small Paws Rescue!
This can be yours for $15.99 includes shipping.

Hi Robin,
I've created a new section in our CafePress shop - The logo is different, lighter, and might appeal to more of our members.

You might want to mention it in the next newsletter you do - people getting ready for Summer events might enjoy some new logo wear.

Also, Buckwheat and Tina are featured on the first two SPR postage stamps, at just $19.99 a sheet.

Maybe it will help to raise some funds for when it's raining Bichons.

Diana

Ok, that's all. You are going to love the media coverage from last night's City Counsel meeting. The animal shelter supervisor has already lost her job, and been demoted to "Rescue Liaison". I told them that this isn't going to be acceptable. The Irving citizens don't want her to be allowed to be around anything that is still breathing. More on that later! I am out the door. All My Love, Robin

Always remember.
No matter what you have done, or where you have been, God loves you more than anyone else ever has and more than anyone else ever will.
