Number 43
"Sadie" needs heart murmur repair surgery. It will
cost right at $2700.00. This is most urgent.
I don't know how long her heart can go on
in this condition.
"Sadie" is 14 weeks old and came
from the puppy mills of Missouri. Her
previous
"owner" was going to hit
her over
the head with a hammer, to euthanize
her.
When he casually told someone he was
going
to do this, thank God that they told
him
about Small Paws Rescue.
Sadie has a grade six heart murmur. It feels
like a PDA to me. It's one of the worst,
if not THE WORST that I have felt.
This will be our 43rd Heart Murmur patient.
We have done this life saving surgery
many
times before.
The Heart Murmur Reunion Page
When we lost MIKEY in New York, after attempting the coil technique there,
I promised myself that with all other
heart
murmur Bichons, I would just get them
down
to Texas A&M where we have had
success
after success.
(Two of our Heart Murmur Babies were
taken
to Texas A&M and were not candidates
for the surgery. They were Chevy and June.)
Can you turn on your heart light once more
for little Sadie? Her surgery will
run right
at $2700.00 in order to save her life.
This is how to use your major credit
card.

Update Tuesday Evening November 28, 2006
Sadie is now safely at Texas A&M. They
say she has a grade six PDA heart murmur,
and they are planning surgery for tomorrow!
More news from Texas A&M as it happens!
Update Wednesday Evening Nov 29, 2006
Ok, Texas A&M finally called late last
night. You are not going to believe this,
but remember, I told you that this was as
bad as I have felt.
Heart Murmur Baby Number 43
(By the way. They tell me she does the Bichon
wave!)
"Baby Sadie"
This will be our 43rd Heart Murmur patient.
We have done this life saving surgery many
times before.
The Heart Murmur Reunion Page
At 5:00 PM last evening, they tried to put
in a plug to plug the hole in her heart.
The hole (the blood leaking out makes the
sound, called "the murmur") was
too big. It didn't work. At 6:00 P.M. , they
tried to coil her. The coil went to her lung
and Dr. Gordon told me she had to go in and
retrieve it. We didn't want any "TEXAS
HEARTWORMS."
They again tried to send another coil up
through her femoral artery, (Sadie's. not
Dr. Gordon's) but the hole in her heart is
just too big.
They decided to send her across the hall
to the soft tissue surgeon on Friday for
ligation. That's the "crack the chest"
open surgery.
This little girl will have had all three
procedures by the time she is done. I don't
look for her to come home before Sunday or
Monday.
That's the bad news.
The good news is that she couldn't be in
better hands. If I ever have a heart problem
I want these dogtors working on me.

Robin,
As we raise money for number 43, Sadie I
thought you might like to share a little
of Bitsie's story. Her name was Buttercup she was to be heart #41, she was put into my arms on Aug. 27Th.
which would have been my Mother's 86Th B'day.
You see mom pasted away on July 31st. in
my sadness God gave me Joy. She weighed only
2.5# but, surgery wouldn't wait. I foster
many of our heart babies because I am close
to A&M but, this baby stole my heart.
The day of surgery I paced like an expectant
parent. When they called that she made it
through surgery, I knew she was to be mine.
I planned to name her Joy for all that she
has done to bring Joy back into my heart.
She had a different idea, when I called her
Itsie Bitsie girl she let me know that is
her name. We now have Bitsie - the dancin'
- laughin' - wavin' - jumpin' girl. To say
these surgeries work is an understatement!
Never be afraid to support this effort and
save these precious babies, they are all
named Joy!
If you are in line for a touch from Sadie,
perhaps I'll be blessed for a few days with
her. I promise to love and spoil her before
she comes to her forever home.
Robin, Bitsie wants to challenge all the
heart babies to give all they can. In saving
their lives with new hearts, they reward
us by healing our hearts. I will never forget
how she came to me to repair my broken heart.
Thought you might enjoy the photo, yes, she
is still Itsie Bitsi - 4.5#s.

Update Decemeber 7, 2006
We have this great video of little Sadie,
out latest heart murmur baby, three days
post-op, just a wavin' to beat the band.
Wanna see?
See the video of baby Sadie at her foster
mom's house, Rosie Welch! It truly is a miracle
what they can do for these otherwise, terminally
ill babies, at Texas A&M University.
Turn up your speakers, too! Thanks to all
who helped to save Sadie's life!

If I Give My Heart to You Lyrics
Sung by Doris Day
If I give my heart to you
Will you handle it with care
Will you always treat me tenderly
And in every way be fair
If I give my heart to you
Will you give me all your love
Will you swear that you'll be true to me
By the light that shines above
And will you sigh with me when I'm sad
Smile with me when I'm glad
And always be as you are with me tonight
Think it over and be sure
Please don't answer till you do
When you promise all those things to me
Then I'll give my heart to you
And will you sigh with me when I'm sad
Smile with me when I'm glad
And always be as you are with me tonight
Think it over and be sure
Please don't answer till you do
When you promise all those things to me
Then I'll give my heart to you
