Dear Robin, Bonnie, Kaye, and all the other
helpers at Small Paws,
I am in my new, forever home in Oklahoma!!
My Mom drove to Texas to get me last Thursday,
and I sat on her lap the whole way home.
It was dark, so we didn't really get a good
look at each other, but we cuddled for 4
hours, & she said I was the softest thing
she had ever felt! (She also played Spanish
music on the radio and talked to me in Spanish.....well,
she called it Spanish, but I don't think
she is a 'native' speaker, like me.) I was
kinda scared of the big trucks we were passing,
but by the time we got to Oklahoma city,
I wasn't scared anymore, and I even helped
her watch the dashboard lights. We saw some
Christmas lights, too.
When we got to my new home, I was really
excited, so we didn't go to sleep until 2
a.m., but she let me sleep with her, so I
knew it was OK. My two human sisters were
curled up on the couch waiting for me to
arrive. I met my big brother, too. He is
a black and white Schnauzer, and is kind
of elderly, but he likes to run around and
play with me anyway. He says its OK to get
on the furniture, and take naps there, too.
My Mommie said she loves me very much, and
will take good care of me. She keeps calling
me her baby, and put a pink collar and pink
heart tag on me, but I am really a big girl
and I'm going potty outside and everything.
She is giving me good treats....chicken,
yum! I had to meet my new groomer the next
day, & even though I was a little scared,
she was really nice, and held me in her lap
for a while before we started. I looked so
cute when we were done, & she even put
pink bows in my hair....Now I am a real fluff-ball.
She told my Mom that it looked like I have
tattos in my ears.....but I don't have to
worry about that kind of thing ever again.
My foster Mama said I was scared of men,
but I really like my Daddy and human big
brother. They play with me and are gentle,
so I'm not scared. Dad even let me sleep
on the big bed first! I'm still adjusting
to their schedule and also the weather. Brrrrrr!
It is cold up here in Oklahoma! They told
me I might get to see snow....I've never
heard of that, but they seemed to think I
would like it.
I saw my other canine big brother, Charlie
the german shepard, too, but only at the
doorway. My mom thinks I need a little bit
more time to get used to him before we can
play together. He is HUGE! Blackie, the schnauzer,
is kind of deaf, so I'm helping him watch
the house at night, & bark when I hear
sounds, so he doesn't have to.
Well, I guess that is all for now,,,,,oh,
yeah, My toys and leash are pink, too. My
Mom says I'm the first girl-dog she has had,
so I figure I'll have to indulge her for
a while. Sometimes she holds me like a baby,
but I don't mind, and I keep her feet warm
at night on the big bed. Thank you so much
Small Paws for helping me find my forever
home. Adios!
Love, Paloma Andrea
