Annie was spotted no less than 15 times yesterday and I myself saw her at least 5 times. Thank you God.

She is still staying on White Marsh Lane which is just exactly what we want her to do.

The extra large trapping cage will be arriving today and the husbands from five of the homes on this street will be helping me to assemble and bait it, for tonight!

Last night, as I spoke to neighbors who had gathered out in the street while I was filling them in on the latest efforts, they invited me into one of their homes.

We had 10 neighbors and myself, in a beautiful Florida home with screened in back den with a pool in it, as part of their house.

They were all drinking pina coladas while I told them the story of Annie, why she won't go to anyone, all about puppy mills, and about the rescue efforts of all of you, and of Small Paws Rescue.

Soon the mood changed from party mode to one of love and concern. I learned that the owners of this home, Don and Belinda, started the first Humane Society in the Chicago area that used only foster homes, as opposed to a facility/building, rather like SPR does.

They had a picture that was done in pastels of one of their beloved dogs, up on the wall. She was a white beeshey-poo, and her eyes looked lovingly back at me from deep within the painting.

Last night, 10 more people made a commitment to help us to save this precious life, that is on borrowed time as it is.

As I walked out to my car, Don came out with me and told me that this is the best thing to hit this neighborhood in three years.

People are coming together for a common cause and to save the life of one of God's precious creatures, who has been damaged by one of our own species, a puppy miller.

They listened quietly, as I told them about the God thing that is Small Paws Rescue.

We are going to set some of their trash cans around the trap cage, tonight, and put some trash in it, along with our bait.

Annie loves to go through the trash of the people who live on on this street. She got INTO a trash can last night and was sticking her little head up out of it. We thought she might be stuck but as one of he homeowners approached her, oh noooooooooo, she is not stuck. She has done this before! She can levitate herself into thin air and take off at a dead run, much like a cartoon character of old.

Did I tell you she has been clocked running 18 miles an hour? Please pray that tonight or early in the morning is the night that she comes for a trashy last meal, on the run!

Ok, we have another emergency that's also happening here in Florida. It concerns this little boy who is being fostered by Vickie Ingles. Emergency surgery is going to be needed and judging from what this has run in the past in this area, we are going to be looking at it costing about $2000.00 to save this wee one's life.

I'm not even going to ask if this is what you want us to do. I know it is. BUT, after we got down to $2300.00 left in our account after paying our bills on Monday night, we need your help to save this boy. What do you think? Is he worth it? :)

If we want to try to save this guy with an emergency surgery this morning, we are going to need to raise some funds for him. Him is one sick widdle white doggie.

Bounder Small Paws is 5 pounds underweight.

Attached you will see photo's of the latest guy with the last name of Small Paws. This guy was rescued from the Hillsborough County Shelter. He was an owner turn in because they couldn't afford to take care of him. He is so sweet even in the pain he is in. We knew he had a bladder stone that needed to be removed and my vet preferred that he gain some weight before surgery as he is 5 lbs under weight. His estimated age is between 8 and 10. He was scheduled for surgery April 3 but today he started crashing before our eyes. I won't get graphic but the stuff coming out of his mouth was awful. He has not gained any weight in fact he has lost a 1/2 lb. He became lethargic and couldn't keep any food down and even turned down a turkey meat treat. By the 4th vomiting he was in bad shape. I rushed him to the Emergency Clinic and they are keeping him over night to rehydrate him but the Dr. there says he must have surgery tomorrow. She believes from the blood work and x-rays that he has an intestinal blockage or obstruction and another stone in the urethra(small one). So far tonight (it's almost one in the morning) his charges are $495.00 but that does not include staying the night and one additional x- ray. I will have an estimate tomorrow on the surgery. I will pick him up at 7:00 am to take him to my vet and see if they can do the surgery there. Small Paws gets a 20% discount across the board there. I will stay in touch. My cell number is 727-457-7611.
Say a prayer for this sweet boy!!
Vickie

Ps. When I picked up this boy he was so matted around the face you couldn't see his eyes, his nails were curled under, and he has been chewing his legs because of the pain he is in. My vet said he has had the bladder stone for sometime due to the fact the bladder walls are thickened. He was and is in very bad shape.>

"Trouble In Paradise"

The second Book in the Cassie Grimes Mystery Series with a special acknowledgement to Small Paws Rescue!

In the book, under "Author's Notes & Acknowledgements", this paragraph appears:

A special thanks to Small Paws Rescue for their tireless devotion to rescuing Bichons from the most unspeakable circumstances. Robin Pressnall and her army of foster parents, volunteers and supporters are amazingly generous with their time and money on behalf of some of the most loving and trusting creatures on earth. They are the embodiment of the idea of "walking the walk."

Her business is in a lull, her husband’s lost his job and her best friend is so depressed she’s talking about suicide. Cassie Grimes is sure that things can only get better as she loads her dogs in the car and heads for Florida to work things out.

Fat chance. Nothing’s ever that simple for this dog-loving woman who seems to be a crap magnet. Shortly after arriving at the condo she’ll soon be forced to sell in the name of solvency, her wealthy best friend is arrested for the disappearance of her much older husband.

What’s a woman to do? Jump into the middle of things, naturally. With the help of her Bichons, Maggie and A.J., her disgruntled hubby and a couple of gun-toting geriatric party girls, Cassie can’t resist being an amateur detective. She’s not making any friends in the local police department because she keeps turning up in the middle of crime scenes. While trying to help her trophy-wife friend, Cassie uncovers a web of fraud, murder and extortion that have the bad guys trying to beat her up or blow her up or just plain shoot her. It gets so bad that Gene even suggests she hire her former boyfriend as extra security. Yikes.

What Cassie goes through in the name of friendship will keep you on the edge of your seat. That is, of course, if you don’t fall off it while laughing out loud. Once again, Pearson proves that everyday life can be not only exciting, but hilarious.

Of course, they are signed from Maggie and A.J. to the buyer's pooch, so please put your fluff's name(s) in the Comments section of the order form!

(Betsy Bunny, Annie (an SPR doggie), Ding-Ding and their Mom Debra have given me permission to use their picture.)

Do you or someone you know like to cross stitch? If so,this item might
be just the thing for you. Have your favorite photos converted into a
pattern that you can cross stitch. It can be a picture of your dog,
cat, child or anything you have a picture of that you would like to
cross stitch. You can support Small Paws Rescue and have fun at the
same time. 100% of the proceeds will go to SPR.
>
This would make a great gift for someone you know that likes to cross
stitch. You can buy the pattern or the pattern and the floss and give
it to them as a gift, or you can stitch it yourself first then give it
as a gift. When you are done, it can be framed or made into a pillow.
You will get a computer generated cross stitch pattern (not a kit). All
patterns are printed out for 16 count, but can be done in any size you
wish. The design is coded for DMC floss and will come on several
sheets of paper. All patterns are done in whole cross stitches.
Included with the pattern is an easy to read symbol key guide and a
color picture of your item. The pattern is printed in black and white
on a laser printer.

Betsy Bunny, Annie (an SPR doggie), Ding-Ding and their Mom Debra have given me permission to use their picture. Above is the digital picture of them and then how it will look after it is stitched. This pattern uses 50
colors and the finished size using 16 count canvas is 8 inches tall by
12 inches wide.

Remember 100% of the sale will go to Small Paws Rescue!
This can be yours for $15.99 includes shipping.

Dear Robin

I just wanted to let you know that I wanted to thank everybody for their prayers for my mother. She had surgery last Thursday to remove the mass that was growing behind her right eye. Unfortunately, the mass was larger than expected and right now momma is only seeing shadows and some colors. She can tell her bichons are close to her also. We still do not know if she will regain any more site but hopefully she well. Thank everybody for praying for momma and hopefully she will regain more sight.

Dear Robin,

I am asking for prayers from the Small Paws network for my friends John
and Vivian McCullough. At midnight last night they lost their beloved 10
year old Irish Setter, Shannon. Shannon had several health issues which
eventually took her life. She was the love of their lives and the whole
family is just traumatized by the loss. She will be missed by all of us who
loved her.

Kerry Ruffner
Altoona, PA. >

P.S. Below is a list of everything we have done in our previous attempts to capture Annie, our lost puppy mill rescue down in Florida.

Again, please don't send jokes, or stories to me as we really need to keep my email account open for rescue emergencies. I'm still getting hundreds of emails a day that Bonnie is having to sift through, trying to determine what is about rescue and what is a joke or story. This makes it hard for her to check my email. Thanks for your understanding!
