LOST SPR DOG INSTRUCTIONS

If you are a Small Paws Rescue volunteer and one of our foster Bichons has gotten away from you, please follow the following steps. We have recovered each missing rescued Bichon we have ever lost. These directions work if followed immediately!

1. Contact the Small Paws home office immediately by phone. Cell 1-918-638-5854. Next, contact your team leader by phone and e-mail.

2. Call the local newspapers and place a "LOST DOG" ad. You need to do this immediately because many of them have early deadline cut offs. WE WILL PAY FOR THIS. The ad needs to say these words.

3. Contact all animal shelters, animal control and veterinarian clinics within a 30 - 50 mile
radius of where the dog was first lost (use your discretion as to the mileage radius). Contact
these locations A.S.A.P. by FAX with the following flyer:

LOST (describe age and gender) DOG
“(Name of Dog)”
(Date dog was lost)

NEAR XXXXXXX (Major well-known intersection)
(Crossroads of intersection)
(City and State of intersection)

Use one person’s phone number who is in charge of taking all phone calls

Call day or night!

4. Call the local police or sheriff. Your foster dog may have been stolen. File a police report listing Small Paws Rescue as the owner.

5. Call all veterinarians in the area. Tell them that if your foster dog comes
in injured, Small Paws will pay all vet bills and will take whatever measures
are needed to save his/her life. Give them the phone numbers of the home office
in case they need a credit card for treatment. FAX them the "LOST DOG FLYER" you
have been passing out.

6. Put a message on your answering machine/voice mail that says,"If you are calling about our lost Bichon Frise, we are out frantically looking for him! Please call us on our cell phone 1-555-555-5555!"

7. Have friends and family make up posters like the one below and post them on intersections within a five-ten mile radius of your home. Small Paws will reimburse you for materials used. PLEASE DO THIS after contacting the home office and placing the LOST DOG ad.

8. VISIT (in person) the animal shelters/pounds in your area daily. Tell them there is a $500.00 reward which we will pay to a shelter worker if our dog is found and returned to us alive. The shelter will remember your coming in person...and they will remember the reward. They will keep looking for our Bichon!

9. Call the local RADIO STATIONS and ask them to air a “lost dog” info-mericial. Give them all pertinent information.

10. If the lost dog is a male, have a female (PREFERABLY non-altered. You may ask the local breed clubs if they can bring a female in to help us search) urinate in the area where the dog was originally lost or where it has been sighted. If an un-spayed female is unavailable – still have a female urinate in the vicinity where the male dog was lost or has been sighted.
