Well, if you are in the mood for some happy miracle stories and more updates on the Andrew Sisters, (yes still all THREE of them thank God) then stay tuned!

Grab a cup of joe and settle in. I'll have a venti, nonfat, sugar free, orange-mocha, two splendas no whipped, extra hot! Won't you join me?!

Click here to learn more about the REAL Andrew Sisters, Patty, Laverne., and Maxine, who recorded more than 1800 songs beginning back in 1932!

Even though I live right smack dab in the middle this magnificent obsession every day of my life, I am STILL amazed at the gifts and miracles that God bestows on this organization, the Bichons who have been rescued by this organization, and the people who love the Bichons that have been rescued by this organization, and the cat in the hat who lives with the people who love the Bichons, aww, you get it!:)

Laverne the little black Beeshey poo puppy that was mostly dead last Friday morning for we don't know how long,
is now able to stand, walk, eat and drink on her own!

If she continues to improve we will be thinking of getting her down to A&M in 10 days to 2 weeks I would guess. I will go up there to Doc's today and get a NEW video of her to show to you all! I think she is finding her way out of the woods and into our waiting arms! Lavern, hang in there!
You are doing so well at recovering from being mostly dead!

And, Maxine and Patty continue to improve in the messy bottom department. Test revealed extreme and potentially fatal cases of Coccidia (Coccidiosis) which is a microscopic bug, which stems from dirty nesting conditions. (Dirty nesting conditions at a puppy mill? Surely you jest.)

Almost every puppy that we get in from the mills comes in with this and or giardia, so we automatically treat them for both, UNLESS THEY HAVE HEART MURMURS in which case we don't want to give them anything without A&M's blessing.

Thank God they were down at A& and got the care they needed to save their little lives, in order to get the surgery they needed to save their little lives help me help me this is a broken record!

Our little singing trio is going to be expensive. One had three nights in the ER here in Tulsa. TWO had five extra nights at A&M,. some of which was spent in ICU, on Oxygen and on lasix for congestion.

So far, without any heart murmur repair surgeries the bills are as follows.

From Texas A&M for Maxine for ICU since last Sat night, fluids, lasix, distemper testing and isolation, and emergency admission. = $1677.90
From Texas A&M for Patty for ICU since last Sat night, fluids, lasix, distemper testing and isolation, and emergency admission. = $1552.86

If ya gots a busted heart and a tail, Texas A&M is da place to be FOW sure.

We have not gotten the bill for Lavern from the Tulsa ER yet, but going on past experience, I would guess it will be around $700.00 for three nights in ICU.

I tooooooooold ya this trio was going to be expensive!

This is a toal of

The good news is that they are all three alive and kickin!

The distemper tests came back this morning at A&M. NEG-A-TIVE thank you GOD.

Patty is having the crack the chest open surgery today, and Maxine will have it tomorrow. They feel with all of the problems they have had, since both have lost weight, they are on the cusp of being too small to coil.

Last night strange noises were coming from their cages. It alarmed the students who were caring for these babies. They called me late last night to tell me about these strange noises.

Silly kids. They are just to young to understand.

This is what they were hearing. (I told them that this means the girls are feeling better!)

It takes A&M a day for them to let me know that everyone lived, and woke up from surgery and is recouping in ICU. As soon as I know more, I will post it on our home page and I will get a newsletter out to you tomorrow morning. Remember, no news is good news!

The Andrew Sisters Heart Babies

We have raised a total of about $4000.00 for all three surgeries. So far, before any surgeries, we have already spent $3930.76 just to keep them from assuming room temperature in order that they COULD HAVE surgeries!

We do need to raise more funds for these kidlets!

If you want to help us with their vet bills, we have this matching challenge for you! No one met this one yesterday so I want to run it again. We don't want Joe to think no one will match him!

Joe LaBeau, a Bichon Dad at jrsnortie@wowway.com wants to issue a $50.00 matching challenge for the Andrew Sisters' "Above and Beyond Their Heart Murmur Sugeries Fund"! Thank you Joe!

And we have this matching challenge from Wendy Ball! Thank you Wendy!

Hi Auntie Robin,
This is Sammy Ball (aka SPR Ajax and not the famous Baltimore Colts football player), see Auntie last year at this time you rescued me from a puppy mill in MO and I thought it would be a good idea to issue a challenge of $10 each to all those fluffs out there who are getting ready to spend their 1st Summer in FREEDOM. See this is the first time I will get to run and play in the green grass with my new brother (Trooper) and sisters (Lady B and LuLu) and it means so much to me. Talk about taking time to smell the flowers, well believe me I take all the time now I want to and smell every one my Mommy has planted in my huge backyard. See Auntie I lived in a cage for all my life and now I have FREEDOM and with the first day of Summer tomorrow and the 4th of July right around the corner I thought it would be fitting to give back to all the other fluffs i.e. THE ANDREW SISTERS. So my brother and sisters joined in and they are sending in $10 each too for a total of $40 to help THE GIRLS. Please fluffs no matter if you just got out of prison (puppy mill that is) or not, curl up and run and play and enjoy the freedom that God and Auntie Robin has given us, so have your Mommies and Dads open up their wallets and help these poor girls have a life that we now know.

Thanks again and Bichon Kisses,
Sammy Ball, Trooper, Lady B, LuLu and Mommy Wendy too!!>

"Trouble In Paradise"

The second Book in the Cassie Grimes Mystery Series with a special acknowledgement to Small Paws Rescue!vIn the book, under "Author's Notes & Acknowledgements", this paragraph appears:

A special thanks to Small Paws Rescue for their tireless devotion to rescuing Bichons from the most unspeakable circumstances. Robin Pressnall and her army of foster parents, volunteers and supporters are amazingly generous with their time and money on behalf of some of the most loving and trusting creatures on earth. They are the embodiment of the idea of "walking the walk."

Her business is in a lull, her husband’s lost his job and her best friend is so depressed she’s talking about suicide. Cassie Grimes is sure that things can only get better as she loads her dogs in the car and heads for Florida to work things out.

Fat chance. Nothing’s ever that simple for this dog-loving woman who seems to be a crap magnet. Shortly after arriving at the condo she’ll soon be forced to sell in the name of solvency, her wealthy best friend is arrested for the disappearance of her much older husband.

What’s a woman to do? Jump into the middle of things, naturally. With the help of her Bichons, Maggie and A.J., her disgruntled hubby and a couple of gun-toting geriatric party girls, Cassie can’t resist being an amateur detective. She’s not making any friends in the local police department because she keeps turning up in the middle of crime scenes. While trying to help her trophy-wife friend, Cassie uncovers a web of fraud, murder and extortion that have the bad guys trying to beat her up or blow her up or just plain shoot her. It gets so bad that Gene even suggests she hire her former boyfriend as extra security. Yikes.

What Cassie goes through in the name of friendship will keep you on the edge of your seat. That is, of course, if you don’t fall off it while laughing out loud. Once again, Pearson proves that everyday life can be not only exciting, but hilarious.

Of course, they are signed from Maggie and A.J. to the buyer's pooch, so please put your fluff's name(s) in the Comments section of the order form!

We have this update on little Faith in Nevada, the little one with the horrendous ear problem!

Subject: Update on Faith's ear's
Date: 6/19/2007 11:56:00 A.M. Central Daylight Time
From: Renee.Polley@AIG.com
To: Pup3@aol.com, jcrowl@mail2Nevada.com

We went to the Dermatologist yesterday for a recheck. Faith's ears are doing much better, so the Dr. said that we would only have to do the shots for one more week (yeah!). The Dr. said the eardrums appear to be not as thick and are getting back to normal. The Dr. gave me an ear cleaner to reduce the ear wax accumulation and Faith will be on her hypoallergenic diet for another 2 weeks, then I can start re-introducing her old food to see how she does.

Faith will have to go back in three weeks for another re-check and hopefully she will be as good as new. She's been a doll through all of this.

From: mbrewster@eavi.com

Hi Robin,

A dear friend of mine just lost her German Shepherd to liver cancer, and she has some leftover immunity boosting products (for dogs undergoing chemo) that she would like to donate to someone. The pills are called "K-9 Immunity Critical Care" and "K-9 Transfer Factor," and she purchased them from www.dogcancer.net; she has almost a full month's supply.

I thought someone on your list might be interested in them. If so, they can reach my friend via email at riley@anco.com and she will ship the pills to them.

Thanks!

Hi Sharyn-

I've attached a picture of Tanner in his new home--along with Ben and Jerry. He's adjusting very well! The first few days he had a LOT of energy--I think he's just that way, added to a bit of nerves. He slept in his crate for 2 nights--too much to explore to settle down. Now he sleeps in the bed with us. He did mark a bit the first day--no big deal. He hasn't met a stranger yet-human or canine! I took him to my vet monday morning to get checked out and microchipped and they were amazed at how bonded to me he is already. Having said that, he's very friendly to my husband and daughters as well. He's enjoying frequent walks-I take them 2-3 times/day, and I've taken him even more--mostly short walks because it's been so hot here this week. I think he covers 10 times as much ground as I do when we walk! It took my guys a few days to warm up, but now they're taking turns playing with him--lots of chasing and wrestling and tug of war going on.
Just wanted you to know he's doing well and we LOVE having him here!
Thanks so much for looking after him for us!

Robin,
One of my very best friends, Pat, had to make the painful task of helping her beloved cat, Dina, cross the Rainbow Bridge today at 3:30. Pat travels over an hour each Saturday to a cat sanctuary to volunteer the better part of a Saturday and has for about 10 years now. She came across Dina when her other cat (Ditto), was very old had crossed the bridge. Dina was such a help for her broken heart. When she saw Dina she was told she had a disease (I'm not up on cat diseases) and didn't have very much time. She took her regardless, took her to the vet, had extensive testing done, and, lo and behold, was disease free. Dina has been with her now about 15 years and they love each other tremendously. Dina is beginning to really go downhill now and suffer, so today is the day for the crossing. Please everyone, can you send both Pat, her family, and Dina love and strength for a smooth crossing.

Thank you everyone.

YOU are VERY special to God! Yes YOU!

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey&qusot;, I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
Godspeed Humphrey Sisco. Godspeed.
