We have music for you!

If you missed our last newsletter, here it is. http://www.smallpawsrescue.org/pup3/feb2107.html

If you are missing some of our newsletters,
this link has directions on how to fix this problem, hopefully!

We have a couple of matching challenge donations for you all this morning, to help with some surgeries needed for some special needs Bichons!

Here are our top three medical cases that we are dealing with this week.

As you know
"Bravo", a Bichon who was hit by a car 9 days ago in Irving Texas, is going into surgery (femoral head ostomy) any minute to have his hip repaired by Dr. Skip Tanger in Oklahoma City! (Dr. Tanger is tops in my book. I've seen his work up close and personal you might say!)

"Bravo's" hip is dislocated and he can't put any weight on his back right leg.

And, just call me the geography queen! Baby Daisy is NOT in Florida as I told you yesterday. Our Florida Team Leader about had a cow when she thought she was missing a dog in her team area!

Baby Daisy is being fostered by Susan Keene (skkeene@bellsouth.net) in Charlotte North Carolina!

Hey! Don't listen to me! I'm blonde and I have about 1000 Bichons in my head and they all want OUT at the same time! HA! Carolyn Mclaughlin, stop looking for Daisy. She's not in Florida! She's with Susan Keene in N.C.!

Baby Daisy was born 10/12/06. She is only four months old and needs our help. She has at least one ectopic ureter, a birth defect where the urine is bypassing the bladder altogether, and is spilling out of the body uncontrollably. A urinary infection could kill her. This is of the utmost importance.

Then, we still have the two bonded 8-year old sisters that came into rescue on Valentine’s Day. Maggie and Abby who need at least $800.00 of vetting between them. Brant tells me their teefies are just falling out.:( That has to hurt!

We have the following matching challenge donation to issue!

Our friend from Southern California, Sue Hodges offers a matching challenge for $100.00! Is there anyone who would match her? If so, she will send in $100.00 to Small Paws for these Bichons! Thank you Sue, again!

"Trouble In Paradise"

The second Book in the Cassie Grimes Mystery Series with a special acknowledgement to Small Paws Rescue!

In the book, under "Author's Notes & Acknowledgements", this paragraph appears:

A special thanks to Small Paws Rescue for their tireless devotion to rescuing Bichons from the most unspeakable circumstances. Robin Pressnall and her army of foster parents, volunteers and supporters are amazingly generous with their time and money on behalf of some of the most loving and trusting creatures on earth. They are the embodiment of the idea of "walking the walk."

Her business is in a lull, her husband’s lost his job and her best friend is so depressed she’s talking about suicide. Cassie Grimes is sure that things can only get better as she loads her dogs in the car and heads for Florida to work things out.

Fat chance. Nothing’s ever that simple for this dog-loving woman who seems to be a crap magnet. Shortly after arriving at the condo she’ll soon be forced to sell in the name of solvency, her wealthy best friend is arrested for the disappearance of her much older husband.

What’s a woman to do? Jump into the middle of things, naturally. With the help of her Bichons, Maggie and A.J., her disgruntled hubby and a couple of gun-toting geriatric party girls, Cassie can’t resist being an amateur detective. She’s not making any friends in the local police department because she keeps turning up in the middle of crime scenes. While trying to help her trophy-wife friend, Cassie uncovers a web of fraud, murder and extortion that have the bad guys trying to beat her up or blow her up or just plain shoot her. It gets so bad that Gene even suggests she hire her former boyfriend as extra security. Yikes.

What Cassie goes through in the name of friendship will keep you on the edge of your seat. That is, of course, if you don’t fall off it while laughing out loud. Once again, Pearson proves that everyday life can be not only exciting, but hilarious.

Of course, they are signed from Maggie and A.J. to the buyer's pooch, so please put your fluff's name(s) in the Comments section of the order form!

Your picture turned into a pattern for you to cross stitch!
(Betsy Bunny, Annie (an SPR doggie), Ding-Ding and their Mom Debra have given me permission to use their picture.)

Do you or someone you know like to cross stitch? If so,this item might
be just the thing for you. Have your favorite photos converted into a
pattern that you can cross stitch. It can be a picture of your dog,
cat, child or anything you have a picture of that you would like to
cross stitch. You can support Small Paws Rescue and have fun at the
same time. 100% of the proceeds will go to SPR.
>
This would make a great gift for someone you know that likes to cross
stitch. You can buy the pattern or the pattern and the floss and give
it to them as a gift, or you can stitch it yourself first then give it
as a gift. When you are done, it can be framed or made into a pillow.
You will get a computer generated cross stitch pattern (not a kit). All
patterns are printed out for 16 count, but can be done in any size you
wish. The design is coded for DMC floss and will come on several
sheets of paper. All patterns are done in whole cross stitches.
Included with the pattern is an easy to read symbol key guide and a
color picture of your item. The pattern is printed in black and white
on a laser printer.

Betsy Bunny, Annie (an SPR doggie), Ding-Ding and their Mom Debra have given me permission to use their picture. Above is the digital picture of them and then how it will look after it is stitched. This pattern uses 50
colors and the finished size using 16 count canvas is 8 inches tall by
12 inches wide.

Remember 100% of the sale will go to Small Paws Rescue!
This can be yours for $15.99 includes shipping.

Hi Robin,
I've created a new section in our CafePress shop - The logo is different, lighter, and might appeal to more of our members.

You might want to mention it in the next newsletter you do - people getting ready for Summer events might enjoy some new logo wear.

Also, Buckwheat and Tina are featured on the first two SPR postage stamps, at just $19.99 a sheet.

Prayer Requests

Hi Robin,
My name is Kim and I am from long Island NY. I adopted SPR Cahan (now called connor) In december 2006. Best thing that ever happened to me besides my other Bichon Noah. He has taught me so much! Connor is missing a paw but has shown me and so many other people that it doesn't stop him from doing everything normal puppies do! I know God sent him to me for a reason. He is the most affectionate dog I have owed and I have a bichon!! He wants to be held all the time and sleeps adjacent to me and sometimes with his head on mine. That is all wonderful but my precious Connor seems to have started having small seizures. I cry all the time. The poor baby has had so many bad life issues and he has such love and high spirits! He also has severe allergies which we are keeping pretty tame here in NY with the cold wether. I really need some prayers and any advice from anyone who has experiences seizures. The vet wants me to just observe him for a while since it is very minor and only looses his ability to hold his bladder. I really appreciate any information that can be sent my way to help Connor.
Lots of Love,
Kim, Noah and Connor!>

Subj: Sasha's last days
Date: 2/22/2007 2:18:59 PM Central Standard Time
From: ABichon@aol.com
To: Pup3

Hi Robin,

If you send out another newsletter, could you please send out a prayer request for our dear friend's german shepherd, Sasha. Sasha was rescued as a puppy from the shelter 12 short years ago and has been such an awesome and special member of the family and was like another fluffkid of mine. As their 3 children were born, she was so gentle with them and always watched over them. When they got another dog and then two cats, Sasha welcomed them into the family. Six months ago, Sasha started licking on her foot and Amanda took her to the vets. Turned out she had a cancer which starts in the foot and travels to the lungs which it had already done. Chemo wouldn't have helped so they have just enjoyed each precious day with Sasha. Sasha has now gone downhill quickly and is at the gates of heaven. If the mighty prayers warriors could pray for Sasha that she will not suffer and will just go to sleep and please pray for her family and for me who are all just devastated and aren't ready for her to go. Our sweet pets just don't live long enough and take such a big part of our hearts when they go.
Thanks,
Lori/Andy Foster and

The brother of a friend of our family has fallen off a roof at work and is now paralyzed from the neck down, with very little hope of regaining his ability to move or breath or talk on his own. This is even more tragic in that this same friend lost her other brother years ago as a teenager to a hit-and-run driver while crossing the street. Please pray for her family and especially for a miracle recovery for her brother. Thank you so much!

Also, a close friend of mine has lost her cat when her young son was going in and out of the house "helping" his dad carry from the car. Her cat's name is Elsa and she is just sick about it, especially with the terribly cold weather we've been having recently. She would be relieved even if she knew that she was taken in and warm somewhere. Thank you, again.
Mary>

Always remember.

No matter what you have done, or where you have been, God loves you more than anyone else ever has and more than anyone else ever will.
