Small Paws Rescue Bichon "Lulu" at the emergency hospital in Ohio.
Small Paws Rescue Information About Our Programs
Dear Small Pawsers,
As you know, one of our Bichons has been hit by what the vet thinks was a TRAIN GOOD LORD HAVE MERCY.
Jen just got back home from being at the emergency vet with little Lulu, our miracle survivor of what appears to be a run in with A TRAIN.

Gals-
I Just walked in from emergency. We got the
chest xrays back & THERE ARE NO INTERNAL
INJURIES!!! Talk about a miracle dog!!!
Unfortunately her leg injuries are very serious.
We have to pray her broken leg is operable,
(because Im sure the other leg will have
to be amputated.) They already said it will
never be straight, if they can save it, it
will probably be fused in the bent position.
Since she is now stable &resting, they
didnt want to hurt her by taking the bandages
off till the orthapedic comes in in the morning.
I'm attaching a pic of her when I first got
to the vets. She is just about the sweetest
spirit you'll ever meet! you see the blood
coming through the bandages? and she was
just looking up at me as to say Thank you
for coming to get me! She is filthy &
covered in burs, no doubt she has been outside
this whole time:(
The bill at animal emergency was $400 so
far plus $60.00 at the first vets. Then I
had to leave $500.00 deposit just for the
orthapedic to look at her tomorrow. So were
up to $960.00 so far and that doesnt include
surgery costs.
I know this comes at such a bad time, I am
hoping we can raise whatever we need to give
this girl a chance, she is soo worth it.
When I looked at the first vets notes it
said "recommend orthapedic surgery or
EUTHANASIA", I just about died...........I
dont even wanna think about what would've
happened if we didnt get her back to us.
Thank you everyone soo much! I wouldnt have
left but she was resting comfortably, and
she was receiving fluids &pain meds,
so nothing more I could do tonight. I will
update everyone after I talk to the surgeon
tomorrow ~Jen>
We have a $500.00 matching donation challenge from Sandra Harris at dsharris@starpower.net Just mention Sandra's emergency challenge for Lulu!

Robin--
I know I don't take the time to thank you
for all the hard work you do for Small Paws
Rescue, but please know that all the great
people involved with the organization are
always on my mind (and in my prayers). That
being said, I wanted to let you know that
I just received the first notice from my
company, SBC, that it is time to "re-up"
for our United Way Contributions. Last year,
I doubled the amount I contribute and designated
Small Paws Rescue as the recipient. It took
a little work because Small Paws was not
yet listed in our choices.
Please, in your next email, ask everyone
who already contributes to United Way to
direct some (or all) to Small Paws. The information
needed is on your website. If each of the
5,000 volunteers only designated $5 per month,
just think of the amount of money that would
pour in!!!
Thank you, again, for all you do.

You guys, today has been a whirlwind for Small Paws..one of our blind Iowa mill puppies, Billy Bob, died on the operating table while they were removing his bad eye...the vet called his foster mom to tell her the bad news....the vet said, "I"m so sorry...Billy is gone"...and then...his heart started beating again and now he is alive and well...and no I am not kidding..and then we learned we have 10 owner turn in's coming in in Florida...and then we learned about LULU getting hit by a train of all things, and living to tell about it!
I think I will be glad when this day is over. I'll try to get out an updated newsletter tonight...to let you know what else is going on..the good the bad..and the sometimes ugly! HAHA!
Please pray for this baby....this is not
even begun yet. Love, Robin
